    Thrush Questions

    Hi,
I just have a few questions about thrush, I have never had it before so I dont know much about it.
This week the health nurse said it looked as though Georgia had oral thrush so I have been treating her with Daktarin and also my nipples. I have noticed that down stairs (me) is a bit itchy on the outer lips and a little bit burny but there is no discharge or anything like that. Is it possible that I could have vaginal thrush aswell. I had to take antibiotics when georgia was a few weeks old.
I have been taking yachult for the last three days but today I have brought some inner health plus capsules for me and some inner health plus powder for Georgia.
I was told to put it on my nipples for Georgia how do I do this exactly, do I just express some milk onto them and then put the powder on them????
Can probiotics clear vaginal thrush up by itself or will I need something else. If I need something else what do you suggest that I get??

Yep it sounds like you have vaginal thrush as well.

I have the flu at the moment and that was enough to tip my internal chemistry (despite probiotics) and give me thrush too.

I never notice a lot of discharge on the outside of things, just the burning and itching first.

I'd say it's probably best to get a thrush treatment to clear it up 100% as you don't want to be passing it between the both of you forever :-)

I am on a Canesten cream/pessary 6 day treatent at the moment. I noticed the difference after day one, it's clearing it up very fast.

thanks for your reply, sorry to hear you have the flu the last thing you need is this on top of that.
Do you know if the canestan can be used when breastfeeding.

just use the cream....and dont put it anywhere near your nipples. Dont use the tablets either....you should be fine. Hope it clears up for you.
You should prob try taking a probiotic too - yakkult, inner health plus, or inliven....

Yes the chemist said to me too that the cream was no problem at all, but don't use the tablets.

You can put the cream both on the inside of your vagina (it comes with single use applicators) and on the outside to relieve the itch.

She also suggested I do it just before going to bed and wear a pantyliner. :-)
