    Question Baby massage help

    Hi everyone.

I tried infant massage on DD when she was a newborn, but she didn't seem to like it. She would cry as soon as I took her clothes off, or if I tried after I took her out of the bath, she just wouldn't stop crying until I dressed and nursed her (she cried through her baths as a newborn). Eventually when she was a few months old she started to enjoy massage (I used olive oil because I dislike mineral oil) but it never helped her sleep unless she was already really tired . . . in which case she would get cranky anyway!

So basically, I had success with this when DD was older but gave up when she was a newborn. I'd like to use infant massage consistently with this next bub but I don't know whether to wait until he stops getting upset about it or to persist.

    What should I do?

I found that when Ds was tiny a massage beofre bed would get him too stimulated so I would incorporate it into play time!
any touch is good so dont worry if you have to do the massage with babys clothes on! I would have a bath wiht DH sometimes and do it then! He loved it! Or out in the sun.

Another great oil to use is organic sesame oil perfect for baby massage!

Good luck, this baby may be the total opposite and love being naked and getting massaged

I hope so lol! DD was (and still is) a very intense baby. From the time she was 4 weeks old I couldn't even sit down holding her, she always wanted me to be walking around so she could look at everything. She got to a point too where I had to walk around outside cos she got bored of being inside lol! I have a feeling this bub is going to be a more easy-going one though. I'm going to get a proper bath set up, with one of those bath slings so hopefully I can massage bub in the bath if he (yes I think it's a he XD) gets upset coming out of it.
