Thanks for sharing. I do miss DS when he sleeps through and admit it freely! Although I'd be happy with just one wake up very briefly instead of hours and hours. I love just one little wake-up, especially when DH isn't around as that usually means we can cuddle for hours in bed.

I was crying in the first two lines!! I was up at 1am and didnt get DD back to sleep for more than twenty mins till just now (9.30am) so im right there with you on the sleep deprevasion. i came on here for some inspiration to get me through the day!! this has done the job nicely!! Thanks.

that is a really sweet poem!

and you know what? at the time when DD was waking constantly in those first 6 months or so, i didnt have the strength to fully appreciate those moments where the two of us were cocooned under a blanket together sharing in eachothers quiet and loving company.

it is only now, when the wake-ups are such a rarity that I catch myself smiling as i walk towards her door knowing that i'll get a precious moment to breath in her sleepy baby smell and cuddle her with all my heart.

Thanks Marlene! It is beautiful. It brings a tear to my eye - 1) because it is gorgeous and 2) because I am sleep deprived after DS suddenly deciding to wake for the past few nights after many, many months of sleeping so well. May the words give me strength tonight

Im so glad this poem appeared on here and facebook at this time.
My little man has been waking sometimes through the night and lately very early in the morning. I was up on the chair with him at 4am this morning. I enjoyed our feed and cuddle under a blanket as we both dozed back of to sleep while everyone else was fast asleep.
I think it means so much too me as he has always slept through the night from 8 weeks . gee its hard to get up again after all this time.

I feel for all who do this every night for months on end.

That was so beautiful - and quite remarkable that you wrote it in the midst of sleep deprivation!! My boy has been sleeping through for many months now but I still sneak into his room at least once per night just to watch him sleeping. They really look like angels on loan from heaven don't they?
I'm going to get a tissue now.....

I'm glad you like the poem Jellybean, but I can't take the credit for writing it. (I'm not that clever, LOL). I found it on the net when searching for poems to read at my DS's first birthday/naming day. There was no author name on it, that's why I haven't posted the author.
