Thought I'd put this here, cos I'm not using more 'conventional' TTing ideas for this one.
Recently I started reading about EC, in preparation for the next baby (which, to date, hasn't been conceived, I just want to have a real head start on this!) and decided that it wouldn't hurt to implement some of it for DS for night-continence.
Well, I started in early December and already DS has been night-dry for a whole week. Well, he had a small leak on Tue night, but it wasn't the whole wee and he did the rest in the potty. This week, even, he has spent more nights without even needing the potty in the middle of the night and waking up bone dry! He's between his own bed and ours now - I love when he wants to come back into me. I never redirect him to his own bed at bedtime if he chooses ours. DP has and I asked him not to - I don't want him to think he's unwelcome
He refuses a nappy at night, and that's why I got brave enough to try it. I know I'm doing it arse-ways (EC-ing night-continence after he's fully day-continent, when EC babies tend to be night-dry first!), but it's been so damn effective.
The thing I'm particularly proud of is that I'm not dehydrating him to achieve night-dryness so it really IS him holding on and wanting to stay dry. He is BFing through the night at least twice.
I have even more confidence to use EC with the next baby from the word go now, because I have used the principles and can see them in action! It also means far, far less washing without the night nappies (using boosted peapods) and less waste when all three night boosters are still wet and I reverted to the 'training pants' sposies...which I now consider to be a big waste of money and completely unnecessary since reading up on EC!
Anyway, there it is. EC for the older child!
