Yes, about gentle parenting! I almost died of shock! I have been away for a few days with family and it was from my Aunty who has always been vocal about how she thinks things I do like BLS, not letting DD CIO, using a sling, etc are ridiculous! Well, she hasn't seen her for ages anyway but this is what she said to me!!
DD: (talking away about stuff)
Her: She's very bright isn't she?!
Me: Yep! (lol)
Her: You should be very proud, you're doing a really good job.
Me: Well it's only been 19 months, haha
Her: No, seriously. I mean you've done some stuff that we all thought was crazy and out there but it's obviously working, you should be really proud of yourselves.
Me:
Wow! Then later I had my Nan tell me I was doing a good job too and that I should be proud!! Really made my day. I was disappointed because I thought that they thought I wasn't doing a good job. But I'm glad that I had time to spend with them and they could see DD for a few days and see how awesome she is and that what I'm doing works for me!
Woohoo!!! That's awesome! It's great that your family acknowledge your parenting.
There is a really interesting article on the attachment parenting website today about a mum that went against the grain and her family thought she was crazy but followed her instincts anyway. I might see if I can find a link for you
THanks guys! It was just nice to hear that, after always feeling like I have to defend my decisions to them because they think I'm some crazy hippy, LOL.
