when did your co-sleeping child wean from breastfeeding?

Hi, just curious/interested for those co-sleepers, when did your child night wean from the breast. Did they do it themselves or did you encourage them in other ways? My DD is a co-sleeper and breastfeeds LOTS during the night, i was just wondering what others have experienced. thanks!

My DD and DS1 night weaned at about 2 years of age. Both times I was pregnant and I encouraged them to stop night feeding so that I could have more sleep. I started to tell them that 'you don't have milky at night anymore'. I still BF them during the day, and I would tell them that they could have a BF as soon as morning came. As they were both 2 yrs, it was easy to communicate with them about it.

Sometimes, DS1 was quite sad about it, and I would hug him and he would cry. Sometimes I would BF him because I felt guilty and mean if i denied him. Eventually, he stopped asking at night. It really wasn't too traumatic in the long run.

15 months with DS. I was 3 months pregnant and decided to night wean. We offered water instead, and I don't recall it being that difficult. He still woke frequently but as long as he could lie all over me at night he'd resettle

DD is still feeding through the night.. altho she did actually sleep through from 11.30 til 6am last night! (mini woohoo for me!!) so it would be nice if she just keeps that up! hehe. That was in her bed too. I put her in her bed initially now, but she usually wakes and comes into us still and then we cosleep for the rest of the night.

Around 16-18 mths I night weaned DD. But she only started frequently waking for bfs overnight not long before this (previously slept through). And she doesn't co-sleep full time, but we had already removed the sides from her cot at this age and she comes in whenever she wants, mostly just from 3-4am onwards, sometimes for the whole night.

We night-weaned by using a sippy cup of water and lots of cuddles. She wasn't impressed at first, but then, I wasn't particularly impressed with the 2, 3 and 4 am wake up calls when I had to get up for work the next day!
