i found toysrus had scary postage costs for lego last time they had it on sale. :(
Wow that's a much better range! There's no toys r us near me. The nearest one's an hour trip just to get there!

I bought DD1 the Lego Creative Tower from Kmart with her bday money and DH said now she has enough Lego. :confused:. She has more coming at Xmas though. LOL.
Now I need to get some containers to separate bits. I was thinking of having a container of small bits and one with the bigger bits, plus containers for sets. How do others store their Lego?
Moi, we have a big trolley, which has about 12 big draws in it, the lego is colour coded and stored in the draws. DS1 has a lot of lego though...
Sooooo much we want here too it's a matter of $$$$, kids attitude & DP saying no :(

The lego challenges are just various blogs who post a different theme weekly/whenever they want or list of themes. Non specific type stuff that allows the kids to think at their own level.
I'm sure if you googled lego challenge you'd come up with heaps.
We store most of our in a Hipkids art table. All together. I'm lazy and I have 30 years of lego stored in there. Not the best system, and I did try to sort once but after a month of regular sorting I gave up. A bit tedious though as I have been searching for some tiny bits for an older model DS wants me to build for a few days now :wall:
You know you've been playing this game a long time when you can sort through a box of many kilos of lego and find pieces and almost immediately identify which set they go with, or sort through even though you haven't seen the instructions for a few decades and pull out most of the pieces you need lol.

DD1 - Showed me a pic of the Lego Pool & asked for it for Xmas. It does look fun. :-)

Dh and dd have a "work in progress". Building a rainbow layered house. Every time dd gets too difficult to work with, dh takes a break to "think about design". The roof is making him think hard lol
Agree BG! I just went into target. What a nightmare! And the coastguard patrol boat had sold out :( I did pick up a few friends things - I got the last camper set, olivia's treehouse & stephanies soccer practise. Also got my 18mo nephew some duplo for xmas. I have now completely used up my gift cards. (Except the myer one - I can never find anything I want at decent value in myer but people insist on buying plain myer cards rather than the coles myer ones :wall:. I know I know I should just be greatful to get one at all.) I actually considered buying the boat beforehand then returning it & re-buying it but I haven't had a car at work this week until today. Maybe it will be on sale again before or after xmas. I was wanting it for DS's birthday. He has enough for xmas. Anyway I need to stop buying lego. Stop. Like right now!

I'm such a Lego nerd! Mum isn't allowed flowers on ward at the moment - so I went to Lego shop and asked if he had a hospital ish mini fig. He found a surgeon in scrubs with X-ray in hand. So we had that to mum today. She said when she come a home dd can have it. Told her dd isn't having it for many years. The doctor is going to look after her. We will one day claim it back. But not for a long time.

We had lego failure this afternoon. DS wanted to do lego. DD wanted to watch TV. DS kept watching the TV instead of paying attention so I cracked and packed it away. No more until tomorrow. Poor kid was devastated. But hopefully learnt his lesson. There's only so many times I can say - DS pay attention, look at the instructions, is that where it goes? etc etc repeat repeat. :wall: I even gave him a chance to move into the bedroom and he still kept watching the TV.
i guess we are lucky only having one kidlet - we don't have to completely pack up if she isn't focussing - we just put them up - not easy with two kids
After all the Lego Challenge talk, I spent a couple of hours making Lego Challenge cards for DS this arvo....just wrote an idea on a card with a picture underneath so DS can pick a card a day and 'use his imagination' to make something that fits. I haven't cut or laminated them yet. We'll take a picture of what he's made at the end of the day. He decided he wanted to do 'car' today, but also liked the idea of 'party' and 'wearable Lego' ;)
Rowellen - That's part of the reason why I'm doing the Lego Challenge cards - I get mentally exhausted looking at pictures and instructions for hours and hours (and being told 'that's not right!'). At least this way there's no right or wrong and I can mentally tune out ;)
Apparently Mum's lego minifig present has been quite popular - a few nurses have asked where she got it so they can go and get one :)
Soooo scholastics is right on target with lego being big again... Ordered a set of I think 3 books & the ice cream cart lego for $20 then also the 2014 lego friends annual (comes with bricks but not sure what) for $8 so it better be here for x-mas then got to find time to go do x-mas shopping.... Argh!

DS just got his third Lego reward for filling his third sticker chart in less than a month...a Creator 3 in 1 plane/helicopter/boat. He's already made the plane and is currently pulling it apart to make the helicopter next. I just love seeing the massive smile on his face when he gets new Lego :)
We'll have to negotiate how many stickers he needs for his next reward - he's starting to ask for BIG sets! On the plus side, he'll now do a heck load more by himself!
Thanks to Coles the girls now have the Lego Ninjago DVD - selling them for $5 so I snuck in without them and bought 2 more for that series to go in their stockings.
I have the picnic set & the letterbox set off BG for stockings, got DD2 the magician friends set and found a quad bike police set in woollies.
Have order 2 friends things from scholaastics and thinking DD2 will get the coast guard set for her, DD1 will get the fire station then thinking about getting the summer riding camp as a joint present.
FIL normally gives us cash for them so might get Olivia's tree house and the excavator set - there is so much they want.. they both want the one with the working light but not sure DP would agree so easily.
the creator houses (the one with the working light is the family house i think) are great value - they have three books in them with three completely different designs to make - If i had to pick between getting Olivias house and getting a creator house, I would probably choose the creator one just for the versatility
and i'd choose the one with a working light over the one with a working doorbell ANY day! damn that thing is annoying
Catch of the day have a lego sale (not a great deal) but I just ordered the lego farm box and got it for $15 delivered because we had a $15cr.
Going to put it aside for DD2's birthday in Jan so she has a little box set that's just hers!
Got the lego today so now the task of hiding it til early jan... But I really want to make the tractor ;)
DD1 has discovered the lego friends app & lego friends website, printed her some coloring pages.
Big w have an awesome range of lego AND lego friends stationary, I will be going back minus kids to get some for sticking fillers.

For anyone not on my FB the girls & I have painted our own scenes for our lego.
First was a beach, which will be redone on mdf then we painted paddocks & a moto-x track on mdf yesterday.
Next is a car park & skate park ;)
We so need something to so something like that. I am seriously artistically challenged though

ZF, that's a great idea. Your pics looked great. There are some things on sale at Big W & Myer according to the catalogues that arrived in my mailbox yesterday. I think they start on Thursday.
DD got hold of a pen and the myer catalogue and was marking items saying "I want this, DS want this, I want this, DS want this". So cute. I don't know where she got that idea from! DS now wants the big City Airport/Plane set :doh: I didn't get him that one and I really shouldn't get anymore! The creator house with the working light was in there too. I can't remember how much it was but I thought it looked good.
