I have done cross stitch ones for mine, the girls I have finished but Lindsay's is still a work in progress (I did them all back to front and started with Paige first).
Paiges has some little mice and flowers and stuff and Erin's is a toy room with an old english style pram and toys etc on a shelf. Lindsay's is a bear sitting in a half moon with stars.
Bath, have you ever checked out the Fox Collection site? they have some absolutely adorable ones - both birth samplers and general ones.
I'll be doing a Witzy and Boof one when the time comes (Little Suzie's Zoo). Yesterday I spotted the Jungle Babies afghan and sampler set in the Fox Collection catalogue which I'll probably be getting - Mum will do that sampler and I'll do the afghan. I'm already running out of walls in the nursery so now we just need a baby....
Well I've not made one for mine but for my GF's daughter I made a Gumnut Babies sampler. It's a bit girly which is prolly why I didn't do one for the boys I must admit. It took me YEARS to do and I didn't finish it till I was home on mat leave with Mason so she was almost 4 by the time she got it PMSL!
I have a marine themed abc sampler which I've started a while ago when my PC crashed and I was without it for a week. DH loves to mock me about taking 4 years to do it like the Gumnut Babies one
I make a self-designed ABC sampler for my first nephew - each letter took on average of 4-6 hours to complete (A for apple all the way to Z for zebra). It looks beautiful, but there is no way I will ever finish Flynn's Australian Animals ABC sampler, or even the baby parakeet one I started for him when I realised the ABC one would take too long. At this rate they will all end up like the sampler I started for DH's grandparent's Golden Wedding Anniversary - "Ron and Irene - 50 Happy Ye..." Poor Grandad died before I had the chance to finish it (blush)
I love cross-stitching and this one took me 12 months to do! It's not exactly a birth sampler per se, but was made specifically to go in bub's nursery. It is my labour of love! It was a free giant pull-out chart in a monthly cross-stitch magazine that comes from England.
Oh Fran it's lovely! I left a comment on your baby's site. What a gorgeous addition to your beautiful nursery! I have also done a fairy cross-stitch... just a single large fairy on a large letter "V" for my DD.
Thanks Bath! I would have loved to decorate the rest of the nursery with fairy related things but couldn't find anything at the shops! Ah well...now to find my next project!
Bath I'll have to take photos of our cause I just havent' got that far yet.
However, I did a Possum Magic cross stitch birth sampler for Vivienne - one of my favourite stories. For Blake I've done a Tom Kitten - Beatrix Potter - one. I've gone totally different for #3 with it being a pair of babies feet, which are soooo cute. I got this at the Stitches and Craft Show in March, so better get my act into gear cause I havne't started it yet.
What a lovely idea. Fran the fairy cross stitch is beautiful.....if only I had the time and the energy to do something when I have the time. Maybe I'll get one done for the grandchildren!
