    Ideas for first fathers day pressie

    My DD is only 4mths old, but I want to get something nice for my DH from her for his first Father's Day. We don't have alot of money, at the most I could probably do $40-50. I don't have any ideas of what to buy. But I think making something would be nicer? What did you do for your DH's first father's day?

    Both first fathers day involved a nice poem, foot or handprints and a photo framed Not exxy, but definitely a keepsake.

    As above

    With Matilda I bought some of those flat canvas's from an art shop and did hand & foot prints and that was all as we had no $$.

    Last year we did an artsy hand/foot print in red paint on black paper with a poem & photo framed.

    This year we are sending daddy away for a good nights sleep with handprints & footprints...

    For all of my dh's fathers day I have done foot and hand prints and framed them.. Last year was the best yet though, I scanned the kids hands and feet.. I put their hand/foot on the scanner wrapped a blanket around to make it colourful and to get rid of the black/grey background we would have ended up with.. I then put the 3 hand and foot prints in a line and thier name and the date and printed it out and framed it..

    My DH loves it and said he couldn't ask for anything else for father's day. We do of course buy him a little something.. Usually a packet of his favourite bikkies or something like that..

    Good luck.. I hope you and your DH enjoy your first Father's day

    I did the poem thing too, but Nina was only 2 weeks old and I didn't get time to do the foot/hand prints, so I got their first photo together, and put that in a frame with the poem.

    The poem I used was: (I found it off the net)

    Walk a little slower Daddy, said a little child so small.
    I'm following in your footsteps and I don't want to fall.
    Sometimes your steps are very fast,
    Sometimes they are hard to see;
    So walk a little slower Daddy,
    For you are leading me.
    Someday when I'm all grown up,
    You're what I want to be;
    Then I will have a little child who'll want to follow me.
    And I would want to lead just right,
    and know that I was true;
    So walk a little slower Daddy,
    For I must follow you.

    that was a beautiful poem!
    My dh's first father's day pressie was an "Iron Maiden" DVD as he is not big on "sappy" presents

    I have got DP a south sydney rabbitohs mug for his first fathers day, and I want to frame a photo for his desk at work. The hand and footprint idea sound great too so I might design it using both now!

    I got my DH a Ross Ryan cd that he'd been after, only just re-released a few mths before Fathers Day. As I bought it from his website, it came with a note from Ross Ryan himself. I waited til Jensen was born before I sent off my order, as I wasn't sure if we were having a boy or girl. There was a back order, so he got a few weeks late. The note said : To Andrew! Happy belated Fathers Day From Rhianon. Cheers! with his signature.

    He said it was worth the wait. He put it on for Jensen one afternoon when he wasn't sleeping and it calmed them both down!
    Awesome!
