My girls didn't want to play with the gifts they were given tonight.
DD1 was given a Raggedy Ann & Andy Boxed 95th Anniversary Edition Doll set - i LOVED my Raggedy Ann doll when i was little, the box it comes in is so cute and i just WISH i could tell her NO YOU CAN'T PLAY WITH IT....
DD2 was given a Noah's Arc wooden play set... it's got this gorgeous wooden Arc along with some gorgeous wooden animals, noah and his wife.
It's the kind of thing i would LOVE to just put up on a shelf as it looks so cute but she will enjoy playing with it i'm sure.
Am i mean for wishing they didn't want to play with them????
I said to DP's cousin is it mean if i hide it from her.. she said NO I BOUGHT IT TO BE PLAYED WITH....
Googled and the set is roughly worth like $40.... imagine in years to come if it's mint and unopened... gahhhh.
Hmm that wasn't her only present from them either... pumpkin patch stuff, fairy costume, dvd, books... very spoilt little girl... she wouldn't notice it missing ....
I'd go buy myself my own to put on the cupboard and let them play with theirs. Its one of those toys they can look back on when they're older and remember how much fun it was
For J's first Christmas, my mum bought her a $100 golliwog doll. The lady asked if she'd like the stage & mum laughed saying, no this is for a 7 month old baby to play with, the lady was horrified because they were supposed to be displayed! We're just not the displaying type, toys are made to be played with
The girls are playing with them this morning.. i know toys are to be played with and there are things i was supposed to 'collect' when i was younger that i opened the minute i got them they just looked so warm and cosy in their special little box.
If i had the $$ i would go and buy another set to hide away
