    ATO question

I have done my tax return. DP hasn't.

Can I lodge mine just using his taxable income as stated on his group certificate (before deductions)?

Will the ATO reconcile it automatically when he lodges? Or just use the figure i give?

Am I better off waiting for him to do his and lodge at the same time?

    Thanks

I *think* unless there is low income dependent or like, the partner's income doesn't really matter. If you are concerned in regards to Centrelink, they will take the taxable incomes as lodged with the ATO once both have been lodged
Hope that makes sense, and helps a little

You don't need to lodge at the same time, the details from his PAYG summary should be fine

    Thanks Untold Angel and Keike

No, no Centrelink or Family Assistance so I might just go ahead and lodge.

You can definitely lodge using his group certificate

it's more to do with medicare surcharges and things - so if you put the amount per group cert, that will be the MAX, so it shouldn't be a drama - unless the combined income is really close to thresholds, then i'd do them both at same time just to be sure
