    Phone companies question.

Im moving house on the 16th to Katunga Victoria. Problem is.. i cant stay with optus (who i love) as they dont service out in the middle of no where. So.. i ask, for those who are classed as pretty much living out in the middle of nowhere, who are you through for your phone and internet and why?

sadly the rip off merchants telstra can only be used for phone and internet , believe it or not we are olny just out of a small city (ipswich ) yet we are "rural" and 3/voda and all the cheaper dealers like dodo and TPG cant be used as the coverage is so bad ...

so we have telstra wireless and a telstra home phone, but optus mobiles . we love optus too and even though our mobiles have poor reception at home , it doesnt matter as we are at home and use the home line if we need to .

saying that , we are happy to go with telstra as we have never had an issue (well after setting it all up ) with signal .

they may be the most exxy , but they work , my mum lives in the sticks and has had noting but issues with internet , some companies ripping her off by installing the net then saying its not thier falult that she has no reception where she lives ... so she is with telstra now too and has good coverage .

    GL with the move

Hollye if you are able to get ADSL in that area get that instead of wireless, because wireless is SOOOOOO exxy!! If your mobile is what signal you need then look at all of the websites for coverage maps. In some areas I have stronger coverage on Voda than I had with Telstra, but in others I dont. When my signal shows as SOS signal that tells me that the only signal available is Telstra and whatever is available is used for SOS calls (000 and 112)

It really does suck that they have the monopoly on rural areas for mobiles but most land lines can go through any carrier as the land line is leased by the other carrier from Telstra. If you do need to go with Telstra and need more than 1 service with them, get it all onto a single bill and make sure you get the bonuses for doing that.
