Start booking in fun things to do for the next few weeks, seriously! Take your partner or best mate (or child) to the movies, or dinner, or the playground. Get a massage or your toes painted. Have your own pre-mummy moon organised. It gives you things to do, and if plans change you won't mind.
oohhh not long for you either Aimz!!!
*mwah* baking babies is so wonderful!! many many birth blessings xx

hmmm I am ONLY posting twice in this thread. and it is always asking me if i really want to leave this page?? weird...apologies.
okay, so while i am here might I ask if anyone has had the (dis)pleasure of reading the HB debate in the herald sun today? it was full of the usual derision (apparently all of us that HB outside of the hospital pilot programs only do so because we want to hang off a chandelier with one arm and one leg while birthing....I am NOT kidding. that is what the chick running the HB program out of sunshine actually said
i was reading it in a cafe and was so angry at all the crap (even though the article for the inarticulate...namely HS readers lol was trying to cast it in a sort of positive light) that that i was going off like a frog in a sock lol..felt sorry (momentarily) for the other patrons at the cafe lol. it was total BS. I mean i totally support the HB programs but do not appreciate the attitude that if you choose not to go through the hospital program it's because you are a radical rogue woman who just wants to show off. stuff that.
and dont even get me started on RANZCOG and the lies that they had to say. arghhhhhhhh!!!!! WHY ON EARTH do they not ask for other expert opinions? WTF would an OB organisation even KNOW about HB??? ARRRGHHHH!
Do you have a link?
I couldn't read it. I'm too ragey right now. I've been in the sunshine HB program and with independent midwives...and guess which time I actually birthed at home
Well haven't told my midwife yet but hoping to ring her next week. Depending whether I can hold out that long or not. But anyways given my history don't want to get my hopes up too much but better add me to the list. Have no idea when I'm due.
And the obvious shhh on FB lol
I mean, i think that the pilot programs are letting so many more families achieve a shot at a HB and is a powerful way to start changing thinking, but boy it is a slow process and i just dont see why there needs to so much derision - especially from the midwives running the program. i guess i made a naive assumption that they were pro-HB. but instead they are pro-system and follow the system whereever it takes them (even if at home ITMS). (Oh and i am talking about VIC programs here - they tend to be the most stringent in terms of what they dont allow from what i am gathering...for example other states are now piloting 'all risk' instead of 'low risk' HB programs).
and yes, they even drew the dead baby card (a poor family lost a baby when it was born at home - before the hossy midwives could get there. NOT AT ALL related to the where the baby was born...but that was only mentioned in brief 6 paragraphs after initially mentioning it).
they went onto say that all HBACs and breech births performed at home end up only at the coroners!!! they actually said that!!! LIES DAMN LIES. the fact is that study after study has shown the there is NO difference to maternal OR neonate rates of death or injury between HB and hospital. the ONLY difference being that a baby (and the mother) born to a family at home has MUCH better outcomes in terms of lower intervention, BF and bonding postnatally. I know that i am preaching to the converted and women that have done their research ('cause most ppl that do the research come to the conclusion that HB is a great option) but i am (in PZs term ) ragey lol.
I'll hunt down a link...i read it in hardcopy at the cafe.
Yeah in definitely not knocking hospital HB programs. But having experienced both, I would choose a midwife independent to our current healthcare system every time.
Omg em!!!!!!!!!!
Ooooooo Em! Congrats!
This HBAC was perfect, so :p to sensationalist journalism.
Thanks :)
 Yay Em, congrats!!

Aimz I didn't realise you were so close to baby time... how wonderful, enjoy the next few weeks. What a wonderful journey!
Hi to everyone else!!
All good here, waiting for my next midwife appointment on Tuesday, then it will be fornightly!!! We bought "hello baby' for our youngest daughter and changed the names to perfectly with all of our family. She is loving it, it's so amazing watching the whole family prepare to meet our new baby. Each child has such a different process going on. The big girls are writing a journal to the baby it is hysterical the things they write!!!
Have a great day!! xxx
My kids have all been reading and re-reading "Hello Baby" too. It's a favourite. :) They are pretty excited about this new little one!
Welcome Em! Congratulations!
Doing pretty well here these days. Had another dating scan last week, which might bump my due date up a little bit. We'll see what the midwife says. Feeling quite a bit more energetic and a lot less nauseated, which is wonderful. Starting to feel little kicks too. :)
Hope everyone is doing well....
