Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Oh cass you are as beautiful as always and always say such nice things to everyone xx
Jen glad to hear you feel a bit better but don't go doing too much now!
Eenee no point telling you to slow down!!
Meow: when's to repeat blood test?
Phy: I'd do what cass said
Afm: can I have this baby soon?
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Glad to hear you're on the mend Jen. I hope you're okay too Em. Mastitis is awful :(
Cassius- I agree! I am SO glad I switched midwives! This one is wonderful and she is really helping get through this and I can really talk to her about it and not feel like she adds to my stress and makes bizarre high risk claims. This one doesn't white wash it but doesn't sensationalise it either. I'm a little bummed as she was just on her way for an appointment now but got called to a birth. Should see her tomorrow. I'm also going to do another blood test tomorrow. It's only 3 days since the last one but I don't want to wait a full week in case baby comes. I hope I'm not being rash though as I'll be shattered if my platelets have gone down again! They just need to come up 3 more points at the moment. Will have another good sleep dreaming of my bone marrow sending out beautiful platelets tonight.
I also have a hematologist appointment for next Tuesday... the day before my due date. In any case I'm not thinking there will be much time left to get anything out of that appointment but it's worth a shot!

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Our Baby is very head down and low the last week ! And have 1.7 cm between cervix and placenta :-)
Thanks for all the positive vibes !!!!
I think my midwife would like a bit more but i feel better knowing its not an automatic c-section anymore
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Woohoo!!! Surely any distance qualifies as not covering the cervix so it sounds great to me! And you have more time still. Such fantastic news! Too many of us teetering on high risk!
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Kellbell: I am doing a placenta dance for you  move move move! Such great news that it is heading in the right direction and in my mind there is still plenty of time for more stretching of uterus and placenta movement. go you good thing!
Meow: I am going to visualise the number 4 and hope that you get more than the minimum required  i am all for the visualisations man!
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Meow I'll keep cass company and keep the number four dear to me!! Go bone marrow go!
Woohoo love the cervix dance too :)
As for me after 5 years of not gastro...... Two out of the four kids are out with it :( please hope it passes quickly and that the other two and myself miss it!!
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Just had a good appointment with my MW. She said the way my blood results came up so much in the last test she would keep me home if I went into labour now, even though I'm still below 90. And that was with consulting OB in agreement too :) But I've already had another blood test this morning so fingers crossed the results of that are good tomorrow.
Oh yuck Tegam. I hope it passes quickly and you don't get sick xx

Not nice :(
When we all got it bad I was pregnant with DS2 and still recovering when I went into labour.
So much for resting for you! Get some probiotics into them. Hopefully they are the only ones affected!
Meow: yay that's great :)

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
tegam: argh! lots of hydration...gastro usually goes through everyone pretty quick...and no, that is not *just* an euphemism  fingers and toes crossed that you avoid altogether though!
Meow: doin' mah little happy dance  I totally :heartbeat: your midwife!

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Oh meow. How wonderful. I think we all love this new MW of yoursxx
Ahhhh 4 out of the five of us are now sick, DH away so hoping he misses it. Dd8 still looking well.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Oh Tegam... does that mean you're sick? Argh! Hope you get over it quickly and don't get too run down with your husband away.
Phew for the new awesome MW huh? If only I'd picked her from the start. Oh well, it's been a journey this pregnancy. Learning SO much about the journey of homebirth that perhaps I needed to cram in to this last pregnancy?!

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
My latest blood test came back down another 5 points at 82 now. I had a feeling this was going to happen. Will keep planning to retest twice a week but getting closer and closer to resigning to a hospital transfer at this point.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Oh meow meow meow. Naughty platelets. Maybe this is just the dip before the rise you need!
Eenee, I'm still sick but kids are much much better thank goodness. I was awake again all night last night with toilet runs. My poor belly feels like it's gone 50 rounds. Good news is DH hasn't gotten it, better new he has three days and he will be checked out..... No more studying/training. He can come home and help and this can swing to focus on baby and myself. I haven't told him I'm sick, don't want to worry him, he has enough going on. Think I'm over the worst of it too now and feeling much better after a sleep. Thank god for abc iview channel 22. It's kept the kids happy while I die.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Meow-oh no. Sorry for my lack of understanding, what does low platelets mean?
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Platelets help the blood clot ladybug.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
I guess the silver lining Tegam is the kids are okay so at least you don't have to take as much care of them. Go the TV! They can watch as much as you need them to at this point in time. I'm glad your husband will be home soon too xx
Yep- platelets are needed for blood clotting. So low platelets puts me at risk of bleeding that could need controlling in a hospital. I actually do understand the risk of that and I really don't want to die giving birth so if hospital means the safest option then I'll go. But I know hospital also means a less safe option in terms of labour management, newborn baby care etc etc and I'm very reluctant to go!
I spoke to my MW again today and she is looking into me being accepted under a nearby hospital MW program which would mean that I'd have MWs that she knows caring for me and I'd be able to have a waterbirth (the only hospital program in the area where a waterbirth is possible). My MW would still come with me but at least it would be a better care model to get me the birth I'm looking for. Fingers crossed as she said they don't usually take people on this late in their pregnancies so we'll see.
My MW is also planning to come to my hematologist appointment on Tuesday so I hope she can make it- I'd love to have her there to get the most out of it.
I hope everyone else is well! I'm a bit 'all about me' at the moment- so much going on and such a see-saw of emotions.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
massive massive hugs Ren
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Meow it's so totally all about you at the moment. That's what we are here for. The risk on bleeding is over almost as soon as the placenta is birthed. So you and your baby can just run home. Don't worry about after birth new born care xx
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
:hug:I hope it all works out for you - big hugs

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Hi women - I haven't been checking in much...keeping busy and laying pretty low in general - have been feeling really protective/introverted for this whole pregnancy and have been preoccupied dealing with family stuff and keeping DS entertained. Now I'm at 39+2 and feeling in a really good, safe headspace for birth. I'm a bit sore and tired but I've been cleaning like a madwoman...my house has never been so sparkly!! Everything is ready to go...have feeling this babe will be here within the week but won't mind if I'm proven wrong (I say that now....lol)
Meow I spotted your post in the FB group - congratulations!!!! What beautiful news!! :)
Ladybug - how are you going?
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
E_p you sound much more ready than me. I'm getting to the point of wanting to block everyone out, so that must mean something. Sending you lovely birthing vibes, looking forward to your announcement!
