DS is doing so much better now, thanks for asking Turledove. Your so right about hospital been the last place to want to be after a wonderful birthing experience. DS has spent more time in hospital than all my kids combined.
We still don't know what happened to DS. We were very lucky to get him to the hospital when we did, we could have faced a very different outcome even by waiting a couple of hours. His sodium levels were so high they were worried about brain damage and his blood sugar were so low and he was classed as septic. He had milk jaundice that was not to bad but treated too. He had urates in his urine even though he kept weeing. He also lost a lot of weight very quickly. Thankfully all testing they have done has come back clear, even though I would have liked answers the main thing is he is getting better. Our biggest issue is getting weight on him now. It has been a very slow road with steps forward followed by steps back. This week has been good though so I am hoping we are over the hurdle and from here on out his weight goes up.

I'm so sorry to hear that Kazzo. That's almost exactly what happened to our little guy. Amazing homebirth, then by day 3 constant screaming, didn't sleep more than 20 mins at a time. Lots of wet nappies, urinates. By day 5 lost 16%. Transferred to hospital. My milk hasn't come in (I was so proud if managed to pump 1.5mL... No one told me babies need more than that!) they have him a BIG bottle, he went into shock and they couldn't arouse him. IV, feeding tube, a million blood tests and ultra sounds and a CT scan (torture chamber). High sodium, low sugar. They thought it was diabetes insipidus, in the end they put it down to a leaky kidney that "healed up on its own." We're thanking God for the miracle.

But yeah, it's hard. I hope you had a great support network, someone to help with the big kids, cook meals and do laundry. Hugs!

Hello again all! I'm nervous to say it, but I think I'm joining you again. :) BFP earlier this week, but it's been crazy here with sick kids, sick DH, and I was sick last week too. :( I'm pretty apprehensive about how this will go, after two losses in a row, but I'm really hoping and praying this one is staying with us.

Also - what has happened to the forum? It's so quiet here!

And I guess it's goodbye again now. I was just starting to wrap my mind around the idea of being pregnant again and getting excited about it and I started to cramp and bleed. :(

Thanks ladies. My GP has referred me to an ObGyn to see if we can figure out what's up. She's hoping that a little bit of progesterone will set things right, but if this ends up being a complicated or unsolvable issue, then maybe we'll have to resign ourselves to not having another one. We aren't going to keep trying and losing babies. Keeping our minds open to the idea of adopting.

Wow Turtledove, what happened to your LO is so similar. MIL was a big help for DH while we were in hospital and although noone could come in and see Ds I had lots of people visit me and bring food and coffee. It is times like that when you realise who really is there for you.
DS is still a tiny little boy, specially compaired to my other 3. He is just over four months now and while his weight gain has been really slow he is growing and is the most delightful baby. He still really loves his sleep and if I wrap him up I can just put him down and he goes off to sleep. Never had that before :)

I have a question for all you home birthers. Did you remain friends with your midwives after? I loved my midwife. I thought we got on great. After her final appointment I said I will keep you updated and that she could come by anytime for a visit and she said that would be great. She sent the final paper work a couple of weeks later and I have not heard from her since. I have messaged updates, sent her an invite to DS Christening but nothing. Bit sad and dissapointed not to even get a reply. I know she is probably busy and can't be close friends with all her clients but I don't know.

So sorry to hear that your baby was sick Kazzo. After a beautiful birth you just want to stay in your bubble don't you.

I'm not sure why I'm here, I'm worried a little that I'm pregnant. We had unprotected sex on cd 17 this month. Yesterday I felt so fatigued I could barely cope. It is very hot in the house we are staying in at the moment, so maybe it is that. But then last night ds outright refused to nurse. I should probably just go with it, because I am nearly ready to be done, but I just can't help wondering if I am up the duff. Today would be 8dpo if I had ovulated on the 17th. We were planning a pregnancy next year. With Christmas nearly here and a planned trip to Thailand in early Jan, I don't want to be pregnant! I want to feel good and be able to enjoy a few drinks and indulge a little before coming back home and conceiving. I guess I have to go and get a test today....

It's hard not to get caught up in all the what if's and just wait (or test) it out... I hope you get some answers soon. Trust that you will adjust no matter what the result is xxx

Hi bella. Sounds exactly how I was when DS1 stopped breastfeeding and then two weeks later I realised I was pregnant again. My Christmas drinks are still on ice ��. Sometimes plans get laid out for us and we just go with it. Goodluck ��

Is it just me, or is conception sex the best sex ever?

So we got a lovely bfp today. We are on the beginning of the last of our firsts. This is our fifth pregnancy, we have three children so we are expecting our fourth child in October. I stoaked! There has been a bit of nerves. I'm not sure if I am enough for four children but I know I would regret not havin this baby, and the sense of peace that I feel now carrying the final member of our family is amazing. Feeling blessed, slightly nervous because I know it will be hard at times, but also joyous. Yay for me!

I'm having issues with BB both on my computer and my phone. Anyone else?
We are also expecting again. 7 1/2 weeks. Saw a heartbeat on ultrasound just over a week ago, so we are very hopeful that this one will stick. I'm taking progesterone this time too. This will also likely be our last pregnancy. During the nauseous times, that's a comforting thought. Other times, I hate to think of this being the last little bundle to snuggle, and the last adorable first steps, and last cute babbling from a toddler, etc.

Congrats cricket! That's awesome. So happy for you. I feel you on the lasts. This is our last baby and I am treasuring the last of everything. Not looking forward to the morning sickness you poor thing. Hope it gets better soon. Xx

What gestation did your last Angel fly free cricket? It must be very hard after a loss. I've had one but at 5.5 weeks and since hubby and I are super fertile and barely look at each other and we fall pregnant, whilst it was sad, it was def not devastating like I think it would be even for people who have to struggle to fall pregnant or who lose a baby further along. Anyway, I hope this pregnancy is very uneventful. Fingers crossed. The more morning sickness the stronger the baby I used to get told.

We lost one at 7 weeks, one at 10 weeks, and one at 5 weeks. DH and I did conceive very quickly, but after those losses, it was really starting to feel like I couldn't carry a baby anymore. The first ob I talked to said I was probably just getting too old. (I was 34!). Anyways thankfully I have a great gp who encouraged me to try the progesterone and found me a new ob to see, and it looks like it's working, so far. :)

And this must be a good strong baby. ;)

I'm popping in to announce the birth of my baby girl! Born at home on Saturday night at 9.30pm, 39 weeks 1 day gestation & posterior presentation!
I hemorrhaged after birthing her so had to get jabs to get placenta out quickly. Ambos came but thank God placenta was already out by then so didn't have to transfer.

Overall recovery is going well, better than with my first assisted-vaginal birth in hospital, despite having lost more blood. Praise God for everything!

Cricket- how ridiculous of that ob. 34 is not old. And I'm glad you ended up changing. Good idea. How much longer r u on progesterone?

Are people following the midwife rules changing? When do we have to birth by to be able to have support at home (without fear for them or us)?

Well Hello!!

Something called me to come back in here today and I see its been very quiet in here over the last year!

I also see I didn't update you all on my birth!!

Charley Ruth came Earthside at 40+5 on the 28 January 2015. Born unassisted at home into her Daddy's hands weighing in at 5140g (11lb 5oz). Her birth was my most empowering and spiritually awakening birth to date. It didn't come without drama and I had quite a large bleed.

Charley is now 17 months old and is the apple our families eye.

I am now working as a Midwife and am still debating whether to go back for another lol

Sorry its taken me so long to update! Life is busy with 4 kids!!
