Hello Ladies!
Well, i was feeling a bit down last week for a variety of reasons! Firstly i was spotting and cramping (which has all settled down for now, touch wood!) AND i emailed my midwife who told me she no longer works on the CMP so cannot be my midwife again! :crying:
She also told me that with all the trouble i had after having Archie (PPH, retained placenta, missed m/c, retained product, d&c, another big bleed) that it would be unlikely that i would be accepted into the program again anyway as i am higher risk of bleeding again. So, needless to say, i was feeling a bit lost and the thought of having my baby in a HOSPITAL :jawdrop: terrifies me!
So today i picked myself up and dusted myself off and thought i'd better get onto it so phoned the CMP to get them to send out my application form. I had a good conversation with one of the midwives there who made me feel a bit better about the situation and told me that it is unlikely that the events following the d&c would affect my application as they were not a 'natural' occurence so it's really just the PPH and retained placenta that may be my issue.
I have absolutely EVERYTHING crossed that i can birth at home again but if i can't i am hoping they'll still allow me to go through the program but just birth in the hospital at the end. The midwife said to me today that this may be a possibility so fingers crossed.
Sarah, Glad to hear you have a pool sorted!
Mel, YAY on your house birth!!!
Marcellus, oh i remember that feeling  You definately WILL NOT be pregnant forever, i promise you that! xx
Liz, Sounds like a plan Stan!
Tegam, WELCOME BACK! Must be a good feeling!
xxx
Loving the vibe in here at the moment- lots of good HBing news :D
AE- lots of women who live remote move to have a HB near a major hospital. So they don't HB actually at their home but it's still a HB- I think yours is the same. Saying you are going to a birth centre doesn't really describe it compared to the birth centre I went to. And at least you can go their in early labour and avoid the crappy car ride as they're not going to have you on the clock like a hospital.
SM- SO glad you have your pool. Beautiful birth blessings for you!!
Marc- I know the feeling. This babewas born at 41 weeks and having had the first at 39+5 I hadn't expected to get that far. Baby will come earthside soon. Sending lots of beautiful birth blessings to you too :D
Liz- Welcome!! When I talked to my MWs about transfer I realised I'm so glad I planned a HB regardless of if I had had to transfer. The hospital and postnatal support you would receive by having an IM even with a prem baby is huge. My MW attended a hospital birth at 34 weeks the day after my baby's birth and helped them avoid a c/s and negotiate SCN. Had I had a c/s and baby was taken to SCN for example,my MWs would have split up, one with me in recovery and one with my H and baby at SCN, and SMSed back and forth to keep me informed. I like those extra touches. Have fun planning your birth! :D
Tegam- SOOO thrilled to hear the HB is back on! You've done a beautiful job growing that babe
Stoked- Everything crossed for you with CMP!
PZ- I hired a wooden pool through midwives naturally and I LOVED it. It had a heater in it that could maintain temperature (not heat the water up). One of my MWs suggested hiring one of those benchtop catering urns if you're short on hot water-plus boiling in pots etc. I've also read that you can use heaters from tropical fish tanks- not sure exactly how but could be worth looking into?
Stoked, hope you can get into the programme again. Sounds hopeful.
I ended up being reassigned to Laura, she's new. There are quite a few new ones at the moment. I would have had Melissa as backup if baby had come on time, but now having Angela (will meet her tomorrow) - she just started, has been doing HBs down Bunbury way.
Even a domino birth would be better than just going to hospital so fingers crossed that's your worst-case scenario.
what's a domino birth?
You have your midwives and home appointments but birth at the hospital
stoked i have everything crossed for you that you get your HB :crossfingers:
AE: that is i reckon a pretty awesome outcome! like Meow said, it's not like a normal hospital attached birth centre...can you visit the place a few times to get a sense and feel for it, so that when you do labour there you can 'claim' it IYKWIM?
Marc: i am going to second Meow on this one as she said so well: beautiful birth blessings for you, your baby and family xx
Yeah its the same place where I had Eden, so I'm ok with going there (would prefer to be at home of course) but its the closest I can get... so I'll take it!! I just hope that I won't labour on the toilet for this one though, I'd actually like to get in the shower or the bath this time for pain relief!! lol
Stoked - Hi kymmy!! :D
How are you going marcellus.... Need a pep talk or a vent??
I've decided I'm having my baby tomorrow morning. I wrote it on a piece of paper last night and put it under my pillow and I'll do the same tonight.
Had a really great chat with the backup midwife - she went to a doula conference a few years back and learned about this technique of planning your birthing date and telling your subconscious. She's used it since with clients in her HB practice and reckons it works 80% of the time.
I need to have this baby - I'm knackered and can't sleep and out of room for more notes in my pregnancy book thingy.
Marcellus: hope you are part of the 80% and it works for you! And if so then i'm wanting my baby on Monday! Don't think that's too much to ask!
Em, write it down
Apparently you have to use this language: I see myself clearly birthing my baby on Monday, 20th December [add in any other details you like]
Hey ladies! Just popping back in to say hi. Can't believe how fast time has flown! So many of you almost ready to have your babies! Very exciting. :)
For what it's worth, the night before Seth was born, I was feeling tired and sore and had a very busy day. DH helped me clean up supper and get the kids in bed, and then I put one of my favourite slow songs on YouTube and we just held each other and swayed to the music for a while and I bawled my eyes out. He gave me a great back massage later on, which ended up as many back massages end up..... anyways, I fell asleep feeling totally relaxed and physically and emotionally spent, and woke up with contractions. I think the combination of being ready, relaxed, and having that hormonal rush gave me that nudge into labour. If you're looking to help things along, I can think of worse ways to go! :)
Looking forward to reading a bunch of homebirth announcements and birth stories soon! All the best!
Oh - and things are good with all of us. :) Seth has fit right in, and though he's a lousy sleeper, he's become a very happy, smiley little guy who loves to coo and talk to his mum and dad and big sisters.
Cricket your little man sounds perfect! Thanks for dropping in and saying hi!
Marcellus - Happy birthing tomorrow morning my dear!!!!!! Will be thinking of you!
Em: Oh dear its only 80% right and you and i are both going to be writting the same date!!! Im off to get my paper now....we;ll see if either of us get lucky!
marcellus and Em, do you think it works if i facebook it?? Not sure i can find a pen :P
I could sleep with the laptop under my pillow??
I hope it works Marcellus!! We did induction acupressure points the night before I went into labour.
Great to hear all is well cricket. I have a half written essay of a birth story. Need to finish it...
yes meow you need to finish it!!! i wanna read it :)
Marc: i love that idea! that is so cool.
wow, i have just realised we have like 3 babies due any time now :o that is way cool!
I'm not sure Tegam. does your subconscious have a facebook page...?
Aww, seth sounds lovely!
Please finish Meow :D
Happy Birthing Day Marcellus!
Poos and bum. Still here.
It's definately today Marcellus... That was my guess so it's gonna happen!
poo and bum! i so hoped it would have worked over night for you! Maybe its just waiting for the cooler evening weather.
I wrote it twice on a bit of paper and put it under my last night....so we;ll see how it works by tuesday!
EM: Happy blessing way day!
Darn it Marc- you're still here! I guessed tomorrow so fingers crossed the full moon brings your baby earthside.
Hope your blessingway went well Em! Would love to hear about it :D
Just what i was going to say!
I have OB appointment at the hospital tomorrow....tell me again why i am so against induction:shakehead:?? I am so uncomfy and 8 out of the 15 ladies in my thread have already had theirs?? And a girlfriend just dropped off a lovely capsule for us to use. SO clucky now!
and marcellus looks like there is no way of getting away from the girls from my thread. Three of them popped yesterday....You must hate them all!
I know and while some of us or even most of us that are left in the thread are over it someone pointed out that out of the 8 born, 6or7 of them have ended up in SCN and none hav just gone straight home with mum! There is just no way i want that!
i also just want to add that you girls are doing a beautiful job growing your babies; and although all the important bits are in place your body is giving your baby the most special gift of warmth and love, letting them just chill in your womb and take a breather after 9 incredible months of growing and coming to being  these babies will come and it will be amazing whether they came yesterday, or will come tomorrow or in the weeks to follow: just you, your baby and your loved ones xx
Are any of those Jan girls actually going to birth in January...?
If I get to Jan 1 I'm hooking myself up to that drip!
Tegam and Em were 'planning' to birth today.... Hope your subconsciouses are more obedient than mine.
Had an S&S today - cervix is not favourable... even at 42+ weeks, sheesh. But Laura's still optimistic - it responded well to her 'ministrations' and baby is well down, so we're doing better than we were at this point last time.
Marcellus: nothing happening here my subconsciousness obviously needs some work! But heck I bet you are getting impatient! Maybe you needed to be in our Jan group lol. Hopefully it won't be long and you'll have your baby soon!
Meow: blessingway was lovely! The girls that organised it did a great Job and I really enjoyed myself, had my belly painted (Bub was moving around the whole time, so Bub must have loved it too). Have now got a beautifl birthing necklace to wear made from the beads everyone brought, it's great! Now all I need is to go into labour.
Marcellus: Nope dont think im going to birth today :(
How can you have a S&S if your cervix is unfav?? Dont get it...
I am 1cm yay (not) so they will see them again friday!
So baby before friday would be nice!
Glad the blessingway went so well em! Sounds gorgeous :D
So exciting waiting on all these homebirthed babes!
Just posted my birth story:https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...me-151011.html
Just a low bishop score Tegam, so technically unfavourable. But she sure did manage to sweep... ouch
Hi girls :)
Marcellus - I hope the S&S helps somewhat. I had my midwife visit today, and she was telling me of recent clients that had gone up to 43+4 weeks! LOL. Sorry... probably not what you want to hear... but hey... some babies just wanna keep baking. Been keeping an eye out for your news tho... looking forward to hearing it soon :)
I'm sooo loving having the midwife visits at home. We got to hear the heartbeat today which was cool :) We're also going to change my dates to what the 12 week ultrasound put me at.. which makes me 14 weeks today. Going with the earlier date to increase my likelihood of getting to 37 weeks LOL. Still means we're pretty much aiming for a June baby to be able to birth at home. I'll be getting in touch with my TCM guy about what he can do to help keep this one in to term as well.
We talked about the various tests that can be done throughout pg. I definitely want the morphology scan, but am questioning whether to do the GCT? I don't think I'll bother with the GBS either as I won't opt for antibiotics during labour anyway even if it's positive. But the GCT I just don't know. I haven't had GD in either of my pgs, but Kayla was a big baby (to this day unexplained LOL) and I do have PCOS.. so am unsure whether to just do it or leave it. Ugh.. will have to think about it soon, as I want to get all my referrals from my GP next time I see her. I don't find the test that much of a hassle I guess.. don't find the drink sickening or anything, so I guess there's no harm in just doing it hey. (sorry.. thinking out loud hehe).
Anyway.. sending lots of labour vibes out to those of you that want/need them :) Hope you're all doing well otherwise :)
Hi Liz: Wow sounds so nice your appointment. I too wanted a 20week scan but said no to GTT and GBS. GTT because i havent had it before and if you dont have history and you havent increased your age dramatically since the last pregnancy they say there is no need.
Also GBS, yes a scary thing that can happen to bubs, but the IVABs dont completely cover bubs and you have to have had two lots on board to be covered which is 8 hrs and then you still have to watch baby. You normally have the test 4-6weeks before bubs is born and then that only means that it could clear up or you could get it in those 4-6weeks.
I always just make sure that i do my bubs temps every 4 hrs after birth for 48hrs, easy.
Marcellus: S&S sounds great then...let us know if you lose any plug, So i think its 48hrs now you have to see if it works. You are going with 43weeks now arent you so HEAPS of time:)
It's funny Liz, we're going with a later EDD based on a scan (6 extra days) because I have the opposite problem to you!
So yeah, officially 43 weeks is 1st of January!!!
43weeks! Thats great to buy yourself that extra time. How are you really emotionally, coping or a bit of a mess right now? Is there anything we can do? maybe if we all wrote a note under our pillow for you?? Whats the next best date?
I had a minor breakdown saturday morning, but put my big girl panties on  I'm back to my usual patient, level self... for now. I think the hospital visit may test me, but DH will spend the day with me. And who knows, I might actually get this baby out before then... 48 hours you reckon?
There are birthdays today and wednesday in teh extended family, so mum reckons tomorrow is good, not that it really matters.
In our family & friends guessing pool only dad, DH and I remain - the most pessimistic ones I guess
Nawww marcellus... it's gotta happen one of these days... hang in there. Maybe start a project that HAS to be finished before bub comes... that's bound to make you go in to labour right in the middle of it... things always happen that way for me LOL. Yeah, we totally have the opposite problem with dates LOL. Altho I said today, this will probably be my 42 weeker :/
