Welcome ladybirdf, congratulations on your pregnancy.
Loulabelle, good luck with the u/s. I hope all ur news is good.
I am trying to decide whether to go back and get the u/s they(the hospital, who I haven't seen since 24 weeks) wanted me to get at 34 weeks to check my placenta has moved away from the cervix. It was 2 cm away at 19 weeks. My MW isn't at all concerned whether I do or don't. The OB I spoke to at one point in my preg basically wasn't at all concerned either. I am not concerned. It might be nice to see the baby. DH would really prefer me to go get it done, which for the sake of his mental health might make me go and do itotherwise, very happy over here and other than more aches and pains from carrying relatively big, I am loving this pregnancy.

hi girls! wow, new thread! everytime we get a new one i feel so happy! HB continues!
LadybirdF: Welcome
Bella: i'd get it done. I would want my DH to feel totally cool and confident and if this is the way to eliminate that, then go for it! just keep your ears closed to any off the cuff negativity from the sonographers (and tell your DH that too). they can be insidious.

Congrats Eutra on your baby boy!looking forward to hearing your birth story when you are ready. What a funky name!
I have a few funky wraps that i will use when bub is born. i am going to let DH choose which ones we will use. I figure one or two might get messy but it will wash off, and then we will wrap bub in a clean one.
Jennifer, when are you having your morning tea?
Bella, your set-up sounds good. mmm, might have to think some more and see what my midwife reckons.
Is Brogeybear around still?
Congratulations Eutra!
HotI, my birthing pool came with about a kilometer of hose! We used it from the laundry sink to the spare room about 10m away but it would have reached heaps further. You shouldn't need to pump out - put a hose all the way into the water so it is filled, the put your thumb over one end and throw it out the window and it will siphon. My midwife says it is great for the garden. I liked having mine in the spare room because it was set up weeks in advance so the was no mucking around on the day. It was a carpeted room, we had an old sheet under the bath and a couple of towels on the floor where I got in and out. Wasn't that messy anyway.
Jen, I kept bub warm just by keeping her in the water as much as possible and the room was very heated. When I needed to deliver the placenta she was wrapped in a towel and given to DH.
Ash, we are so lucky here in NZ! One of the MG ladies had her second baby the other week and had planned to go to the birth center but the midwife said since all was going well they may as well just stay at home - I doubt that would ever happen in Australia!
CONGRATULATIONS Eutra on the birth of precious Caspar. And congratulations on a joyful homebirth. I cannot wait to hear more.

HotI, there is a bit of talk about transfers around here, because we are 1.5 hours from a half-arsed hospital and 2 hours from a decent one. If there is a need to transfer, either from the birth center or from home it is either a long and uncomfortable ambulance ride or the helicopter comes if it is more urgent. Quite a few of the ladies around here go directly to the hospital in early labour so they don't need to transfer later when it is more uncomfortable if there were any problems. Most of the comments are based around the dread of doing the very windy road to the city while in labour.
Nice that you are getting your birth space sorted. It is nice to be able to picture where it is going to happen.

Congrats Jen!So happy your little girl was born at home into your arms.
I had things starting for about 12 hours, but everything settled down again. Was exciting and scary. Started worrying if i am ready and if i can do this. Have a midwife appt this morning so hopefully will get back to excited.

welcome ladybird and congrats on your pregnancy.
bella, I'm with cass, its important that our partners feel comfortable too. Ask your mw to recommend a good place to get it done. They often know which places are more prone to scare tactics etc. I'm sure you're placenta will have moved anyway, it didn't have far it had to go to be considered safe.
Eutra- thinking of you xx

Thanks girls. I think I will too. If only to keep him happy. We talked properly about it and whilst I could see that he would bend to my wishes if I pushed it, but I don't want to push him on a "non" important issue iykwim?
In other news, I went and had some blood tests done with my GP on Monday and he called me today to say that my B12 was really low and that my ferritin(one of the forms of iron that we use) was really low too. So I had a B12 shot this morning to kick start it and am now on some tablets to up my levels. He says it is why I have been feeling to exhausted lately. I just thought it was because I am in my third tri, with a busy toddler, trying to be a good wife and mum. Apparently that doesn't help lol, but it has more to do with the other stuff. So looking forward to feeling more perkyHe was pretty cheeky tho and asked my DH if I had been pretty grumpy lately... our GP is a friend of DH's so I let him get away with it
DH came away saying he wasn't sure what answer to give that wouldn't get him an elbow to the stomach
cheeky buggers both of them! Mind u it is nice to have a GP who doesn't bat an eye when I ask for synto scripts or even when we discuss things needed for the HB. His wife had 4 hb's so he is pretty well kept in line at home I think.
Anyway I needed to have a whinge to someone about all that today, so thanks for listening. Made me realise when I reacted badly to the news this morning, that I am not well prepared mentally for the "if something goes wrong" scenerio of this birth. I need to get my head in a good place to cope with complications and negative outcomes, without losing my positive outlook. Any ideas are welcomed if you have strategies ladies.
xx Bella
