OMG Cassius!!! Congratulations!! Cant wait for you to start planning!!!
Congrats Cassius!!! 2012 is a fab year for a HB. ;) Will you have the same m/w?
How are you doing, Loulabelle and Ash?
Hot1 I'd love to read your birth story!
We had our HB get together yesterday and covered babywearing. I have to convert my soul sisters Bella and Hot1 so we can follow each other around another FB group. ;) I've become the proud owner of a couple of beautiful wraps and I'm hooked. Not as much as some of my other HBing friends though!
And I got my ticket to the movie premiere. I'm def going to buy the DVD set on the night and loan it to my sisters. Also buying the Spiritual Midwifery and Rediscovering Birth books to loan to them. I want them for my library as they were my faves.
Cassius, your birth story keeps on giving btw. I modified it for myself and now my sister is going to do the same (she's booked in for a hospital birth). She told me yesterday that she's so glad she's had me to talk to because she now knows she can refuse things and stand up for herself. She shocked her private ob by declining the ABs in labour although she's strep B positive. ;) I'm proud of her, it's her first baby and it takes guts to make a decision yourself and swim against the system. I feel like my HB is a gift to my whole family, not just me.
I'm so envious, Cassius! Does the surprise become that little bit more exciting knowing you're planning another wonderful birth?
Jen, what level of cover do you need with AU to have homebirth covered?
I had a few hours work today and DS happily slept for most of it snuggled up on my chest in my Close Carrier.
Huge Congrats Cas!!! How truly wonderful!!!
And Jen I actually make wraps :) they are super easy. Although they aren't as lovely as the one you bought :) I started making them as a fund raiser for friends of the birth center townsville, then started a small buisness that I essentially have ignored for 12 months, but have also made them for friends of the birth centre sunshine coast. I got dinner made with my baby wrapped against my chest today too..... See I told ya we are all soul sisters ;)
Cassius! Hooray!!!! I'm so excited for you
:happyforyou:
It seems to be the year for unexpected babies! It's a very special year in the Chinese calendar- the water dragon!
So happy to hear all about these home birthed bubbas!!!
Congrats Cassius! Do you have a date yet? All the best for the rest of the pregnancy, and a lovely birth. :)
I'm not a "hard-core" babywearer by any stretch, but I've got a ring sling, (which I made - they're really easy too) a pouch sling, a stretchy wrap (SOOOO cozy for newborns!) and a gauze wrap, which I haven't tried out yet. I think that the ring sling is probably one of my favourites.
Can't wait to read the rest of the homebirth stories, especially as we get closer to May..... :)
Aww thanks girls xx
We are pretty shocked lol. But TOTALLY stoked that we know our midwives, so unlike last time there is no stress trying to find the right match ITMS. Baby is due early November! So we will get back to Oz mid august...
Oh Cass. That's the best news. I'm totally green with envy in the best possible way. I can't wait to read all about your journey ;)

Being away, it is just perfect that your little nest has already been created from last time. You'll be able to slot back in with your midwives and settle right ready for another wonderful birth.
I have to say, after your comments on your contraception recently I was kind of expecting this one day soon!
Oh Cass, that is truly wonderful. A massive congratulations! I am thrilled for you. Now you have somewhere to direct all your cluckiness- you won't need to join the poultry keeping thread after all
Sorry I haven't popped in lately. I have been recovering from a bout of mastitis :( I feel much better this morning- I only have a little bit of discomfort when feeding (one breast only) and I am still getting hot sweats. I wake in the night to wet sheets and pillow, I am sweating so much. But that is a big improvement to how I was on Thurs and Fri.
Hello to everyone else.
Ash: urgh! mastitis is no fun  hope that it clears ASAP for you!
I have found a midwife clinic run out of UCLA campus which is a 5 minute walk from our place, so i am hoping that they can take us on for the bloodwork and NT scan. I am so scared that our insurance may not cover it :o. but if that is the case, there might be a good chance that there are HB midwife places that take you on with no insurance and their costs are much cheaper :crossfingers:
Oh Bella and Hot1, I should have known! We've just moved the baby wearing section so I'll find you there!
Ash - unfortunately I can empathise. I'm feeling better today but have had two very dodgy sick days with my poor bbs. One side only just stopped having that hurty feeling while feeding this afternoon. So far I'm managing with homeopathic remedies and ibuprofen. Sucks though. Hope you feel better soon. In my case, DD2 sleeps too long during the night. I know, who thought you'd complain about that.
GP appt today for DD2's 2 mth vax. :( GP was delighted to hear the HB all went so well, thought H was beautiful and I was looking very calm. She said she'd seen a couple of frazzled Mums with little bubs before me. So her first HBing patient is a good advertisement!
Looking fwd to the movie on Sat night. My Mum, who was at the birth, is coming down to surprise DD1 for her bday so I got her a ticket as well.
I ordered Ina May's book and Rediscovering Birth by Sheila Kitzinger for my library today. I'm going to lend them to my sisters to help them prepare, if they want them. I also got two of the kids' books because DD1 has misplaced the ones from my m/w. :wall: can't wait to reread mine after our birth!
Cassius, how's early pg treating you? Have you spoken to your m/w yet?
How's everyone else?
