Have I given it long enough - implanon?

    Hi,

I had DD2 4 months ago and had the implanon inserted in hospital when she was 4 days old. I bled for 9 wks straight then stopped for almost a month, then bled a further 16 days, then stopped for 12 days and have now been bleeding on and off for 2 wks. Hope that all makes sense.

I am sick of bleeding all the time and not knowing when it is going to start and stop etc. My GP said the implanon doesnt agree with everyone and if the bleeding is still bugging me in 2 months then he'll remove it. Do you think I have given it long enough for my body to get used to it?

    Thanks

Implanon didnt agree with me twice! First time I persisted and kept it in for the 3 years but second time I had it taken out after 5 months because of the same problem as you.

implanon is evil!!!! Ok maybe i'm being a drama queen, but it certainly didn't agree with me. I do have a couple of friends who love it though, so i think it's either great or 'orrible.
I think you have given it a decent go, 3 months is long enough imo!

Sometimes they can put you on the minipill with it to try and regulate it. I had mine in for 6 months and tried everything to regulate it, so when I said I wanted it out the doctor said I had given it a decent go and it just wasn't the best thing for me.

Thanks girls, I am going to make an appointment in a few days to get it taken out. Now I just have to decide what other contraception I am going to use.
