i just got my implanon implant today, i have never had one before. is it supposed to feel a little stingy/ slightly painful afterwards? i only got it in about 2 hours ago. GP said it wouldnt hurt so i am just wondering if it is all ok. also, i havent had my peroid back after giving birth so do you think it is likely that i wont get it at all now?
My implanon hurt like the blazers for a couple of days. Did you see the size of the needle on it?
I think your GP told you that so you wouldn't be scared
I had it put in before the return of AF and I didn't get one till it was removed about 12mths later.
Depends. Some women bleed constantly on it (like me) others don't bleed at all (like Sam) I had the most massive bruise for ages when mine went in. The needle is a couple of mm diameter and was almost enough to make me pass out when I saw it.
I agree the sight of the needle was enough to make me nearly faint!! I got mine from the chemist and opened it at home so I could check it out (left everything in wrappers) The insertion thingy was in a clear wrapper and oh boy I thought I was going to faint!!! Anyway I have survived two now. Yeah it hurts for a few days. Mine even bleed for a bit but once the bruising goes it should be all good.
hey guys, what does it actually feel like? i am meant to be able to feel it or i have to go back in 24hours! i couldnt really feel it at doctors cause my arm was all numb and spongy. but i just had a feel now and i still cant really feel it. also it is more on the underside of my inner arm i thought it was mean to be more in the middle of inner arm. cause i didnt look at it, i dont really know what shape, how big or thick or pronounced i am meant to be feeling. any help?
You will still have a bit of swelling there so that may be why you cant feel it. It is about 5 cm long. Make sure you leave the pressure bandage on probably for the rest of the night to reduce swelling too.
Feels like you've got a match under your skin Maybe after the initial swelling goes down you'll be able to feel it there.
If you can't then go back to the Dr before you DTD as there was some controversy with it a few years ago with Dr's not making sure the implant ejected from the applicator and it didn't go in the arm.
I didn't watch mine go in, I looked away when the doctor was getting it out as I has already had a peak at the size of the thing when I bought it. My arm hurt for a few days from memory. If you keep it tightly bandaged for 48 hours you shouldn't get a big bruise though
well, day 2.. it still hurts a bit. i *think* i can feel it. i can feel a bit of it anyway, cant feel a whole 5cm long thing. is the problem with not being able to feel it just aht you arent protected or is there another reason that they worry about it not bieng in the right spot for some other health reason?
