Still bleeding, maybe from the implanon??

    Hi,

I had DD2 7 wks ago via c/sec. I can't have anymore children and had the implanon inserted while I was in hospital. I have been bleeding ever since. It looked like it started to slow down a bit 3 wks post baby but then came back, its pretty much like I have my period on a heavy day and have to wear pads. After I had DD1 I only bled for 2 wks.

Do you think I could still be bleeding because I've had a baby or do you think it may be from the implanon? My GP did tell me the implanon doesn't suit everyone. I like the idea of not having to take the pill everyday but this bleeding is driving me nuts. If it is from the implanon I hope it stops soon. I dont think I can take months of this.

when i had the implanon i had bleeding for three month bafor i told the doc to take it out, i wouldhave a breake for a day or two then the bleeding would start again, it just doesnt agree with everyone, if you have it taken out would you consider an IUD, i had a copper one put it and it was great becouse it has not hormones in it you cycle naturally and i think they last for 5 yrs.
Good luck and ihope it stops soon for you

    Thanks Dasharity,

I go back to my GP next week and I will see what he says. He wont have a problem taking it out if I want him too. I am pretty sure I should've stopped bleeding by now if it was still bleeding from giving birth. Like I said it slowed down at 3 wks to the point where there was hardly anything then came back with full on bleeding.

I got an implanon put in when DD was 6 weeks old. I was still bleeding before I had it inserted, stopped bleeding for 2 days then bled for 2 weeks. Then no bleeding for about 4 months (while I was breast feeding) then got a period about 2 weeks after finishing BF. The only thing I don't like about it is I have irregular cycles which is a shock for me coz I've always been regular as clockwork. When I do have a period I have some bleeding, either medium or light flow for about 2 weeks then I can go for up to 42 days so far with nothing. For me though I like it coz I don't get any period pain with it. I've just started to learn to put up with the 10-14 days of bleeding when I get a period and always being prepared with things JIC I get my period.

I had Implanon inserted when DD2 was 9 months old, and I had well and truly stopped bleeding post-pregnancy. I started bleeding heavily every two weeks for two weeks. As we have completed our family ,and I can't take any other form of contraception DH volunteered to get a vasectomy and I had it removed.

I know that individual results vary, but I would never recommend it.

I had implanon inserted about 6-8 weeks after ds was born. I bled for 8-9 months straight barr a couple of days here & there. Sometimes it would be heavier than others, but it was constant. I also gained weight & developed some serious mood swings. Needless to say i did have it taken out after 9 months. My Dr told me when she put it in that there was a chance of bleeding for up to 3-6 months for some ppl.
If u can stick it out for that long with the bleeding & hope that it stops after a few months then keep it in. I would be asking about other forms of contraceptions if i were u tho. Maybe ask about mirena. It last for 5 years. I was supposed to get that one about a week ago but changed my mind coz ive been reading some stuff on here about it that other ladies have said.

    Hi Girls,

    Thanks for all your responses.

The reason I am unable to have anymore children is because I have had 2 bad c/sections. After my first I was told I would not be able to have a vaginal birth due to the fear of rupturing. With my 2nd pregnancy I was booked in for a caesar at 38 wks but went into labour at 37 wks. The hospital let me labour for 7 hrs because they were flat out and I end up rupturing. I have now been told my uterus would not be able to sustain a pregnancy and therefore I also can't have the mirena put in. My GP said getting my tubes tied would probably be the best solution but I am not sure if I want to have that done.

Ah yes! How quickly you can forget!
I gained about 6kg in about 3 months without doing anything different, and COULDN'T get it off even going to the gm about 4 times a week and cutting my diet RIGHT back. As soon as I took it out, I lost the 6kg in about 2 weeks, again, doing nothing.

And the mood swings!! I was constantly feeling premenstrual and just 'off'.

I have a girlfriend at the moment contemplating having her tubes tied. Her husband doesn't want to get a vasectomy and she just doesn't want more children. Traditional hormone contraceptives play havoc with her skin, and she sees this as the solution.

Whatever you decide to do Leigh, I'm sure that you can get the support that you need either here, or referred through your GP. Good luck.

No wonder I am struggling to lose weight then. I still have 10 kg to lose. I don't want to put on anymore weight.
