    Question Breast friendly bottle teats?

    Hi All

Just wondering if you might be able to help. The lactation consultant I saw recently mentioned a brand of bottle teat that is better then some of the others out there as it supports a similar sucking action to breast feeding. I think the brand began with 'i' but I can't remember the name. I do know it's not a common brand and is not that easy to get a holds of them. She did mention that they were available in Melbourne? Also she mentioned that the teat was longer then most others and softer then say an Avent teat.

If you happen to know please drop me a line as DH and I would like to get one so Nana is able to feed DS next week when we got out as she is not too confident using a cup with him.

    Thanks a bunch
    Jen

    Hey Jen -

This is not the one your after is TT is a popular brand, but I find the Tommee Tippee ones to be excellent.
The whole teat is like a boob and alex has no trouble going from one to the other if need be.
The only issues i had is that it can often make him lazy at the boob after a bottle, BUT that's a bub dependent thing.

    HTH.

This probably isn't the one either that she was talking about, but Pigeon Perilstatic (sp?) teats are supposed to be the ones closest to the shape and feel of a nipple (apparently!!)
DS liked these ones more than the avent teats, which he would just sorta play with instead of drinking.

i just moved to tommee tippee closer to nature and this seems to be better for DS, who is mainly BF but has bottles when in care... i used to use avent but they were nowhere near as good.

I highly reccommend Tommee Tippee closer to nature bottles and teats!
DS and I struggled for ages with breastfeeding, and we used these when required. He still likes to suck on them on the very rare occasion that he has a bottle.

I was also reccomended the Pigeon ones for Kane..

Which still amazes me... If my cleft lip and palate baby had no suction and couldn't use the breast, how was a teat like the breast going to help???!!! Lucky I had prepared my self with special bottles....
