Talking I've fulfilled the WHO recommendations

Woohoo! Random thoughts on this follow...

Its DS's 2nd birthday, which means I've fulfilled the WHO recommendations! DS feeds to sleep at night and then if he comes into our bed during the night, or when he wakes in the morning. So where to from here? I'm trying to stop him feeding to sleep at night - been slowly trying to take him off before he's fully asleep per the No-cry sleep solution, but didn't want him to wean before 2, so I guess I'll try in earnest now. I don't mind if he keeps feeding, but don't know that I want to tandem feed. I think I'll just continue what I've been doing for the past 2 years and go with the flow.

I just wanted to say CONGRAGULATIONS with b/f for 2 years

I don't really have any advice about the weaning but have read that they sometimes self-wean when you are pregnant so that this happens

Congratulations on reaching 2 years! Fantastic effort

My DS fed to sleep forever. Pretty much right through the pg. I weaned him off night feeds earlier in the pg by offering water, but still welcoming him to our bed for cuddles. He was fine with this. And the feeding to sleep slowly transitioned to feeding, followed by me sitting with him and stroking his arm while he went off to sleep. He fully weaned at 26 months after tandem feeding for about 6/7 months. He was making me sore while feeding, so I told him it was making mummy sore, and he was ok with this.. and weaned really easily, so I guess he was ready too!

You might find if you can cut him back to just a couple of feeds, you might be happy to tandem feed. It's a lovely experience if you feel you can manage it

    Congrats again!

Well done!!!! Great feeling isn't it? (My DD and I just reached the same milestone on Saturday ) I'm still playing it by ear, was considering weaning, but haven't made a definite decision yet.

Good luck with the rest of your breastfeeding journey

Yay! Remember, the WHO says 2 years and beyond, so they're all for continued feeding
I say give tandem feeding a shot if he's still feeding throughout the pg! I'm hoping DS is still BFing the next time I'm pg so that he can help me with my oversupply when my milk comes in lol!

I reckon go with the flow. Children naturally move away from breastfeeding as they grow older and use food for hunger and develop emotional maturity. That's great you made it to two years old! Have you asked your son how he feels about less breastfeeding? Night breastfeeding is usually the last one to go. My older DD doesn't breastfeed during the day now, but will probably have one or two feeds at night.
