    Question uni talk

Hello everyone and congrats. I am beginning my second year at uni and will be due to have bub part way through the first semester. Is there anyone in the same boat as I am a bit worried on what i should do. I am studying internally so at uni and am not sure how long up to the due date i should go to uni for.

Hi. I had a few girls in my classes go right up to having baby and then continued to bring baby to class with them for the first month or so afterwards. I however couldnt do that and left uni when I was around 6 months as it fitted in when the semester was finishing. Having said that though..if I could do it over again I probably would have persevered with it and until longer if I could as its sooo much harder taking daycare and everything else into consideration with a baby.

    Hi Betty,
Which uni do you go to? My husband and I are both at UQ. I was planning to start my PhD now but have decided to leave it till a few months after the birth so I can give myself time to adjust. Your situation would probably depend on how you feel, what course you are doing and whether there are health and safety aspects you should consider (eg. working in a lab) and what facilities are available at your campus. Chat to your GP, midwife and the campus councellor. For me, I would hate to have to drop out half way through the semester as that affects your GPA and you still have to pay for the courses that you didn't finish.

Krysalyss - I am studying at QUT and am doing education.
I have another appointment with the midwife tomorrow so I will have a chat to them but I really dont want to have my waters break during a class or while waiting in the lunch line. I think I will just have to think about it longer.
Jo - Did those girls who went right up to having baby ever go into labour whilst at uni?
Its such a hard choice for me but thnks for your thoughts

I'm due just before final exams at end of the year, have no idea what to do. Best bet is to talk to the uni and see what they recommend :-)

    Hi bettyboop,

I am at my 4th year at Uni right now.

I had my first bub 6 weeks into my very first semester - eeek!
She conveniently came in the mid-semester break and I went back when she was 1.5 weeks old. The Uni gave me my own room to breastfeed her in for my exams and extra time. They were really accomodating.

I had my second bub mid-year in my thrid year. Didn't cope well at all, mainly due to lack of motivation. Deferred all my exams semester 2, then ende dup pulling out of all my subjects, hence why I'm back for a 4th year!

Just go with the flow and see how it all goes, but I'd recommend seeing the Uni about what services they can provide fairly soon

Thankyou for your thoughts everyone. I went to uni yesterday and handed in my form for a year of absence. They were very informative at uni and told me that if I was to change my mind before the beginning of the second semester then I could come back.
