Welcome Sherie :)
Sally- i read your vent post, i hope your ok
Thanks Joanne... I'm ok. Poor lil Brendan is suffering though :(
No problem Sally, to Brendan also. I hope you can get through to your XP about what Brendan should and shouldnt be playing with and that he will respect your wishes.
Argh, im a twit. I went to sort out a bunch of sunscribed thread and i accidentally deleted nearly all of them. :(
But yay i finally had my long whining vent about real estate agents, now i just need things to happen about it. Sally and Joanne - thanks for your cards, i got them from mum on the weekend, mine are in the mail today (i didnt realise how darn close it had gotten to christmas).
Hope everyone else is well...
Ash- Oh that would annoy you, glad you've gotten your vent off your chest with regards to the real estate agents, :crossfingers: something comes up soon. No problem about the card, always nice to recieve chrissy cards. I look forward to recieving yours, we're headed to Sydney on Friday so if it doesnt arrive before i leave thanks in advance :)
Thanks Joanne, Well today has been great :D I went down and visited my friend who is 12wks pg with TWINS!! Last week she was threatned with a M/C so i went down today for some hugs and a milo :P She is on bed rest now and has a check up this week.
Brendan is back into his routine, YAY! little bugger didn't want to go to bed last night on time, but hopefully as the rest of today has gone well i get get him to bed on time tonight.....
I'm glad you received my card Ash... I look forward to getting yours :)
Take Care :)
No problem Sally, glad that today has been better and Brendan is settling back into his routine, fingers crossed that he goes to bed on time.
Wow congratulations to your friend, wishing her a H & H rest of her pregnancy. I hope she is coping ok with the threat of the m/c. I hope she can get the rest she needs, is this her 1st?.
Completely irrelevant but, mum's just had a show, so accompanying the contractions she's been having since friday evening we're a guessing i might have sisters by the morning :)
Bit of a nice surprise as it's Mum and Wayne's 3yr wedding anniversary tomorrow too :)
Wow Ash, did your mum have you young or are these twins a surprise? Didn't know your mum was expecting.
Oh wow Ash how exciting, all the best for your mum and her partner. Fingers crossed its not a false alarm.
Ash, how exciting :D :D All the best!
Thanks Joanne, She is doing very well, getting lots of rest her DP is great :D he's going to be an excellent dad... he sits and plays with B when i visit. This is her first yes, so all very exciting :D
Take care, oh btw.... B is in bed and aslepp only 30 mins late, so i can deal with that!
Ash, wow goodluck to ur mum!!
PAGE 6 already!! hehe lol
Sally- Thats good that your friend DP is great, he sounds like he's going to be a fantastic dad. Very exciting time ahead for your friend & her DP.
30mins late isnt too bad, i'm sure he'll settle properly into the routine in no time.
page 6 already wow!!
it's funny, my friends DP is more of a "dad" to Brendan that what Nigel is. He shows interest in B and plays with him ect it's so nice to see, and gives me a few mins to relax :D
I'm not too fussed if he goes to bed 30 mins late, it's the day routine that was ****ing me off before :) lol....
take care girls :D
Hi everyone,
I only just found this thread... and i thought i might join :D
My name is Katie and I'm 23. Married for 3 years (together for 6), we have a gorgeous son, Ben, who is almost 2.
I'm from country Vic, but have been living in Germany for the past 3 years (Dh is German... LONG story). Missing home terribly, but I'm doing okay here.
It's especially difficult in Germany. Young mums are a rare breed, VERY rare. In Ben's playgroup all the mums are in their mid to late 30s. It can be frustrating some times. no matter how hard you try to fit in, you feel like you will never be "one of them". Plus, the language barrier plays a huge part too.
Anyhow, I will read the whole thread when i have the time (i just skimmed through it this time!), i can (hopefully) get to know a bit more about you all.
Take Care,
Katie
Sally- Fair enough, i'm sure he'll settle into the day routine :).
Hi Katie- your more than welcome to join in, the more the merrier. Congratulations on your son & marriage. Look forward to getting to know you better. Would be hard living in a "foreign" country. I'm living in a "foreign" state that being QLD i'm originally from NSW.
I'm off to bed
Oh Sally, thats awful that you can't trust them with Brendan! My best friend had a similar experience, when her little girl was about that age she'd found that her MIL had been giving her pieces of chicken still on the bone from KFC. As you can imagine she was furious... also she'd been giving her mash potato and gravey from KFC which has HEAPS of salt in it, you're not supposed to give kids under 1 anything with added salt because they're little kidneys can't handle it yet.
We don't trust anyone with our kids either, the only person is my MIL but even she seems to be brainless at times. It used to be ok with her but lately she's been letting DS1 (who's almost 4) go and not watching him as closely, thing is her other grandkids are 5-6 and are girls so they don't need as much watching and i think she forgets that Dylan is still a bit younger and is so much more active and inquisitive.... and doesn't listen to "no" as much as the girls.
Welcome Katie :) you'll love it here if there's not really anyone to talk to where you are. Everyone here is so nice and supportive.
Ash, best of luck!! very exciting stuff!
Welcome Katie :D
Jade, you'd think that being mothers themselves they'd remember how their kiddies where at that age. But as you said having the older ones and girls... oh well. I guess MIL will be MIL lol....
I'm totally not thinking properly today. I went to bed earlier than usual and i've woken up very tired, Brendan is back on track today... so far. lol. i'm staying home today and tomorrow. I have mothers group on thurs and dr and nurse appt fri. Too much too close to chrissy. I'm also going into the City Fri night, that'll be interesting for Brendans routine...... maybe my mum will look after him? have to ask.....
Take care girls :D
Cate - Mum had me just before she turned 19, i have a 15yo and a 10yo old brother also.
She just tells everyone she's onto her second family!! They went through IVF for about 18 months and then conceived on the time doctors had considered most unlikely (they only ended up with one egg from the entire tranfer) and it split and wa-lah identical twins.
She's only two weeks ahead of me (so when i found out i was highly amused) so at 32 weeks, they should still be fairly okay if they do make an appearance.
Hospital gave her an injection to stop contractions and a steroid booster for twins lung development. She also had a test (?) done that determined she definitely will not make it until the end of the year. - So for now all is back to 'normal' but for how long?!?~ (we already know that her cervix is pretty much fully thinned too...)
She's being confined to the hospital, as the Geelong Hosp told her they refused to let her try to birth naturally (because of the TTTS - long story), but the specialists she's seen all pregnancy said that it's possible and the only necessary c/s may be for the second twin, depending on her position. So she's come to Melbourne to let them 'take care of her'. Because of mum's quick labours its unsafe for her to be anywhere other than within ten mins to the hospital she'll be birthing at, and hence she has been admitted.
Am so tired, am quitting my job, even though i shouldn't, but it literally drives me to tears - and normally it is a job i could handle and power on with, but at the moment my hormones are so up down all over the place that i really can't stick to it. It's really detrimental to my mental state and i think im stressed out enough as it is. It'll just be sad to wave goodbye to that extra $1000 a fortnight. Now if only C'link will stop screwing me around.
Welcome Katie, hope you enjoy joining in on our chit chat!
I didn't realise she was only 32 wks... how is she holding up? It's a very scary experience...PTL. If they babies do arrive, I think they have 98% chance of survival and if shes got the steroids in even better!! They hurt the steroid injections... I hope she can hang on longer. Every one day inside is 3 days less in the SCN.
Hugs Darl a fingers crossed she makes it into Jan.
Hi ladies, hope you all doing well.
I'm just getting ready to go house hunting.. YAY! I dunno why, but I love doing it!
Ash - I didn't realise they were that early either. I've heard twins are always a bit early but yeah 32 weeks, they're gonna be so tiny if they come out now. At least like you say they've got a damn good chance with modern medicine pretty good these days. Would certainly be nice to hang on a bit though and have them come out a little plumper, all the best to your mum!
I think you're pretty justified in wanting to quit your job, 30 weeks pregnant and working isn't easy. I remember when i was pregnant with #1 Centrelink were gonna make me work for the dole at 30 weeks... stupid centrelink, also the way it worked out, DH was earning a fair bit so i was only getting $20 a fortnight from centrelink, the only reason i didn't want to come off of it is i had an advance payment i couldn't afford to pay off in one hit, so basically they wanted me to work for the dole for $20 a fortnight. Luckily i managed to stall the work for the dole people for a couple of weeks till i could officially say 'bugger off i'm pregnant' I had put on almost 30kg that pregnancy aswell so i was just too tired to do any kind of work.
Sally - I hope things go well friday night with Brendan!
I can't believe the only give you a six week leway. I figure, im thirty weeks now, i dont have their stupid first appointment until thirty two and then no doubt by the time they organise themselves ill be thirty four anyway... so stalling seems like the best option...
And i mean, ive been into my doctors four times in the last ten days, enough for them to make a medical decision that says 'she's too damn exhausted to work, go to hell'. If that needs be the case.. least i hope anyway...
Mum's on bedrest and whatnot so hopefully less stress should keep them in a little longer. Is going to be an odd christmas though, that's for sure.
Ash- i remember you saying your mum was due before you but couldnt remember how far along she is. Twins are common to come early i've heard of alot of twins coming from 32weeks onwards, so i'm guessing your mum will be a mum again before 2008. I hope that whenever they are born that they are healthy, as Sally said 1 extra day inside the womb is 3 less days in SCN. I dont blame you for quitting your job either, you have to make the best decision for you and bub.
Liz- I hope the house hunting went well.
Jade- Centrelink make you work up until 6 weeks before your EDD from what a friend has told me.
Yeah it is six weeks, she told me on the phone yesterday - and apparently seven weeks after?? whats the go with that? I didnt ask but does that mean you onyl have seven weeks before you have to start looking for work again?
hey everyone, just found this thread so i thought i might join!!
im 19 and single !! to cut a long story short, baby's dad decided to be a a$$hole when i told him i was preg, and i didnt want to get rid of bubs so here i am!! we dont talk anymore and thats the way i want it. SOO happy! couldnt have made a better decision!
read the 1st few pages and this page... centrelink annoys me too, have to go in there 2morrow to tell them AGAIN that i have 6 weeks to go... so i dont have to look for work anymore ect.... they have just treated me like $hit my whole pregnancy, i was workin part time and they were still making me look for work, like anyone was going to give me a job 8 weeks b4 im due... losers lol
Ashlea the 7 weeks after thing is only if u dont go on the baby/parenting payment after u give birth which everyone does lol so i dunno why they say it...
well hello everyone else, good thread to have, younger people understand each other better i think :) !!
I keep forgetting to poke my head in here!!
I'm Ali, 21, DH, 22, and I have been together since March 2002 and married since April 2005. We have 2 gorgeous girls, April 06 and August 07. I currently have implanon and will have it removed when Em is about 18 months old. We want to have a boy next and will do all the swaying methods we can find. We often get strange looks coz we r young and hae 2 kids. ppl have asked if it was a shotgun wedding :O NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS!!! I have had some battles with Em's weight and there is plenty of that in my blog, which i need to update, will do that in a moment, Any way hope to get 2 know u all better soon!
Hi Ali - wow i never noticed you were a youngin' and ive been following a few of your posts for a while. What a twit! Good luck with TTC a boy next time, look forward to hearing/seeing/etc your journey.
Jess, i know how ridiculous is Centrelink! As if ANYONE will hire you when you already know you're pregnant... i didn't feel right lying to employers when i was interviewing and i know damn well pregnancy was what had me turned away... and i didnt start showing until six months. Besides, AWA's are so crap these daysi swear if you have a casual position they'd find a reason to sack you on the spot the minute you told them anyway. Gosh C'Link are right dumba$$'s i swear.
Thanks for the info, i was a little confused...
Welcome Jess :) Good on you for standing up to your ex! Just because he wants to be useless doesn't mean baby shouldn't have a chance at life.
I think they must say the whole 7 week thing for women who are giving their babies up maybe? like if you've been a surrogate mother for example and wont actually be looking after the child. Still stupid to tell you, how many mothers don't end up keeping their babys, can't be that many...
Yeah centrelink are totally useless, i've had enough of updating my yearly income to them so they'll pay me correct family tax benefit, i just way over estimate now and get whatever they owe me at tax time, ends up being so much easier. The less contact with them the better...
Yay Ali, goodluck on trying for a boy! we were hoping for a girl this time around but fate gave us another boy hehe oh wells, i'll just have to put DS2 in pigtails or something, he's sweet enough to be a girl LOL.
I should put some pics up, I seem to be the only person on these forums who has no pics.
Welcome Jess and Ali!!! :D
Well girls sorry to say but centrelink are not going to stop stuffing you around once you've had bubs..... it's just a fact of life i suppose! LOL oh and it's even worse for those claiming parenting payment single :(
When i was 16wks pg with Brendan i had a threatned mc and was unable to work, had drs cert's and all. CL wouldny pay me the sickness benefit, they were going to make me look for work, and i said to them i'll go into the shop/workplace and say....
" hi i'm sally and i'm 17wks pg centrelink has made me come and look for a job, even though drs have told me i am unable to work, can you please sign this"
you know what the chic and cl said, "that's fine" LOL. Losers.
Well Brendan is much better, back into his routine... well as much as possible for a teething 10 month old.... his bottom 2 came through 2 days ago and hes cross-cutting another 2.... 4 teeth in 4 days, poor baby. and poor mummy, stinky poos....just gross!
Ash, hows is your mum keeping?? hope all is well... hugs.
take care girls
hugs
Sally and Brendan xxx
Welcome Katie, Liz, Jess & Ali.
I agree centrelink is horrible, there is this one lady at my centrelink she makes life so much harder for everyone & i hate waiting in line so much harder when you have a screaming newborn/baby.
jade - they were my exact words!!!! just cuz the babies dad is an idiot, didnt mean i had to get rid of my lil man! hes still going to have a great life, better to live i think! :)
sally - yer i have said the same thing to centrelink, they just dont care... not looking forward to going in there with a week old baby trying to get the baby money!
mo - yer theres this one lady at my centrelink that is a complete cow, back when i was all emotional and stuff lol, she wasnt going to pay me for some reason so i was screaming at her and then went out into the car and cried lol, then rang mum, went back in there and started crying to the other person i was talkin to lol... they just dont care
well im off to do some shopping, and go to damn centrelink, if they want me to get ANOTHER docs cert to say im preg, they can shove it where it fits, i have given them 3 already! :p
Hello & welcome Ali, good luck with TTC a boy next time around look forward to getting to know you better.
Welcome Jess- my d@mn PG brain didnt even think to tell you about this thread *d'oh*, glad you found it. Glad you gave bub's dad the boot, he doesnt sound like anyone you want to have around and your right just because he wasnt ready to step up and be a dad didnt mean you had to get of your little man.
Ash- How is your mum?.
haha thats ok jo :p
centrelink was fine 2day thank god, its so hot here, i just couldnt be bothered with their $hit !! but i dont have to do my form anymore so thats good...
i have decided im not leaving the house in the last 4 weeks :p i just felt so blaaaa 2day, yukky
hehe sounds good, i'm getting so tired of having things to do, i barely get a day at the moment where there's nothing to do, don't think i've relaxed properly in about a month.. or longer. It'll be tons better when christmas is over though, and i'll get DH to try and roster as few days as possible at work for the last few weeks so i can lock myself in the bedroom and chill while he watches the kids.
sally - good to hear Brendan is better. Hopefully it'll keep up.
Joanne and Jess - It's all getting really close for you guys!!! Good luck with the impending birth!!
Thanks everyone for asking - mum is good. It's not exactly necessary for her to be there, but as i said, GH refuse to let her attempt a natural birth so Royal WOmen's were more than happy to have her stay. She hasn't had any further contractions, but she swears she will have them on the 21st (her tarot cards said so -!)
So... I went house hunting again today, and in the process spent fifty bucks on taxis. God i hope one of the apps gets accepted just to make the fifty well spent. If you want to know more, follow my vent thread in the buying/selling/etc forum. It's long and confusing, but easier to update all in one thread.
Need to have a whinge about by soon becoming non-existent christmas...
Also worried about leaking amnio waters???? But that's a whole other thread...
Anyhow!
SALLLLY... I just wanted to ask, how are you coping? I know everything happened at once, and im not sure if there was another thread about it, so im just checking up... to you.
Hey all I thought I might pop in. I started reading the posts... got to page 4 and couldn't be botheres, lol. I'm 20 (21 in Feb WooHOo) DP is 25. We have a 3 1/2 year old DS and a 15 month old DD. I think I might of finally found the thread where i belong lol. I don't really know what to say so I'll leave it at that for now.
Ellie
Welcome Ellie :)
Yeah no need to catch up, we had another random thread before this as well so there's be a lot of catching up to do. Good to have you on board.
I have found that the easiest people to talk to, and the most responsive, and the ones willing to put up with hearing my crap over and over are the ones in this thread - especially Sally, Joanne and Nina, i couldn't have survived the last couple of months without you guys to talk to and keep me sane - so good move on joining us all here!
eta - and tali!!! i couldnt for the likes of me remember who was in the old thread with all the newbies now!!!
It's good that we have this thread as I know too well about those days where you just need to tget things out, whether it's about kids playing up all day of DP. lol. Which it's normally DP like tonight for instance. I just looked at your due date. That's my brothers b'day. is your bubba comes 10 days earlier he'll land on my b'day:P
