Hi everyone
I'll call my clinic today (though they're often on lunch when I am so it's a bit tricky speaking to them at the moment!) before then I thought I'd ask you all- Does anyone know if I can use cold and flu tablets while I'm on Synarel? My nurse told me I wasn't meant to use nurofen so I'm not sure about the codiene etc. Down reg scan is tomorrow and I'd rather have a headaches and a blocked nose than mess with it!
Can't answer on the cold and flu tablets, but codeine and paracetamol ARE ok.
Thing with synarel is that if it can't contact the mucus membranes in your nose, it won't work. I had the problem that synarel caused major stuffiness and so I had to use lucrin instead. I have a sneaking suspicion the clinic will say no, so definitely best to wait until you hear from them.
Updating-
The clinic did indeed say no- due to the cold and flu tablets actions on the mucous membranes they can therefore interfere with the Synarel's absorption.
And the second way you were right BW, was that I can only have paracetamol and codeine for my cold. On the plus side, I was down-regged and am now jabbing (eek!)
Extrapolating from the recent info about sensitivity to rhinoviruses being oestrogen dependent- perhaps Synarel's suppression of oestrogen will increase the likelihood of getting colds. Unreal!
