    Booked IVF appt!

    Hi ladies,
I was wondering if someone can give me some advice & (apologies in advance for the repeated questions)

My husband & I have been ttc for 3.5 with no BFP. Nothing. We had an appt for IVF 2yrs ago & was told I was too young & to just wait a bit longer. Nothing happened in that time.

So I have finally booked my IVF appt for late nov but as I havent had tests etc done since just before I went last time, I am thinking that it probably wont start til Jan/Feb? Would that be right? Obviously that is if all the tests etc are all ok - which they were last time. Apparently we are 'unexplained'.. in saying that - His sperm count was fine & I have PCOS.

I have emailed the clinic who told me apart from Christmas & NYD they dont close down at all over the Christmas period which is nice. But i would love if someone could give me a rough time frame of when I could expect to start?

Another question I have is diet. Any foods we should be avoiding in the lead up/during?

    Thanks ladies!

I'm a little saddened your FS told you you were to young originally, that's crappy We started IVF when I was 21, with unexplained infertility. I am sorry to hear your journey hasnt been a quick one

So time frame for us was FS appointment in May, Laparoscopy end of June, sent to try for 3 months, FS appointment end September to confirm I still was pregnant and started a cycle in November. Other than a healthy well balanced diet, lots of water and general 'well being' we didnt do any diet things. Usual TTC vitamins/ folate would of course be beneficial.

Since you've already had the tests, your FS may just jump in, if you guys are ready and willing. They may retest the basic things eg bloods, sperm count etc. What tests have you had done?

Here's hoping your IVF journey is short and sweet

I agree with Lily Dust that it's crap that your Dr sent you away before. 27 is not too young to try IVF. The younger you are, the better your chances. Did they at least treat/manage your PCOS while you waited?

I'm not sure about timelines. We didn't jump straight to IVF; we did 6x IUI first. As you say, there'd be testing to get through, but it's possible you could finish that in one cycle and be ready to start suppression in the following cycle. That said, it's probably best to go to your appt without expectations and see what they say.

Feel free to join us on the LT TTC thread, either now or when you start IVF. There's a few of us doing cycles now, but plenty of us waiting as well. https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ion-Oct-2-2012

I can't believe you were sent away being told you were too young! Just a quick thought - have you already got your police checks etc done as that can hold you up... If you haven't sent away for that yet I would do that straight away. Good luck with it all.

Those are only required in Victoria.
