Hi,

I am towards the end of my first IVF cycle and this forum kept on coming up whenever I googled one of the million questions I had. So it finally clicked I should join!

I am 41 (soon to be 42) and my partner is 45. He has 3 children from a previous relationship but we have been trying unsuccessfully for 2 years for one of our own.

We are into the 2ww after a blastocyst was transferred 2 days ago. That is the the exciting part. The downside is that out of 8 follicles, 4 fertilized and the one inside me is the only one that made it.

I'm feeling disheartened today - today it seems so much effort for 1 little shot.

Is that a normal ' result' considering my age? If this doesn't work out and we go again can we expect the same or is it more of a lottery?

Would appreciate any advice,

R
