I just thought I would see if there was anyone in the same boat.
We are now trying for our second child & so far have had no luck in using the last of the two frozen embryos we had. One was a FET with a BFN and the other FET cycle, the embryo did not survive the thaw.
We now have to take a months break before going down the whole fresh cycle journey again. The reason for this post is that I was devestated that we did not end up with a positive result but then I had to check myself as we have a beautiful daughter & in a way I feel that I don't have a right to be too upset as I know the heartache that so many members are going through to achieve their baby dreams & we have that now.
Is there anyone else trying for number two & how do you go emotionally are you finding it just as hard???
Hi Littlemissmoo
Our stories are very similar.
DH and I are currently trying for bub #2.
After TTC for 18 months we were blessed with our DS on our first fresh IVF attempt. We had 5 blasts frozen from that cycle.
First FET unsucessful, second FET first 2 didn't survive the thaw but still transferred one which I found out yesterday was unsuccessful.
So we are left with one blast on ice.
Since our thaw rate is 50/50 we have decided to take a month off and start a fresh cycle next month. So just waiting for AF to arrive to book my day 21 scan.
I am finding this time TTC just as emotional as the first time and have been devastated with the awful BFNs but like you I remind myself how very lucky we are to have our DS.
I'm also in Perth, which clinic are you with ?? I'm with Hollywood.
Wow, it does sound like we're in a similiar situation!
I'm with Hollywood as well, though we live in Mandurah. Since trying for number two, we have been seeing Dr Barton but we previously saw Dr Perkins. Looks like we'll be starting our fresh cycle in October, I have a day 21 appt made for 29th Sept so hopefully it'll be all systems go. I'm just hoping we can squeeze it all in, in October as our Dr is going away for holidays in Nov & I'm very particular about which FS I have so looks like she'll be able to do the cycle from start to finsih (fingers crossed!!)
My FS is Turner - not everyone's cup of tea but I really like him. I have never met with Barton but hear she is very nice.
Must be a bit of a trudge from Mandurah with the morning appointments. I am only 10 minutes away from Hollywood and sometimes struggle to get there in the mornings.
Still waiting on AF which hopefully will arrive soon so looks like we will be about 1 week apart.
FX for you (and me !!).
Let's hope that things go well for both of us! I don't think I've met Dr Turner yet. One of my good friends has him as her FS & they got a BFP first go. How old is your DS now? Our daughter turns one next Thursday.
We were going to give a go all by ourselves & go down the IVF road next year, but with the funding cuts coming in next JAn, we have decided to move things forward a little bit. Living an hour away is a pain in the bum, with the FET it wasn't too bad as I generally needed only one scan & the blood tests I get done in Rockingham. But with a fresh cycle being so muh more invasive, we have also had to arrange it so my husband can take some time off in Oct as well. Keep me posted as to your progress if you can, fingers & toes crossed for the coming month,
As we fall into the 'unexplained' category, we were going to try naturally until the end of the year but the proposed budget cuts have pushed us straight into IVF treatment again. I'm so sorry about your recent MC, I hope that your next round of treatment brings you the joy of looking at another 'double line' on those dreaded POAS!! It's such a hard journey but I keep telling myself if we've done it once, we can do it again!!
