    Newbie questions to ivf

    Hi girls,

This is my first IVF cycle, not sure if I should call it that or not? We're doing ovulation induction but the sex part ourselves to start. Does that count? We've been trying to conceive our 2nd bub for just over 2 years. 3 ops for various reasons and a m/c later here I am!

I'm in the 2ww and going totally insane!!!!!!! I made the mistake of telling friends I was doing IVF, big, brave me "it doesn't matter who knows, it's no secret"!!! I'm an idiot!!!! Should have kept my big mouth shut coz this waiting is driving me nuts and having people ask is sending me to total insanity!!! hahaha!!!

Anyway, I'm not too sure yet of how everything works, I had the trigger injection on the 20/5 (pregnyl 5000), then further pregnyl 1500's scheduled for the 24/5, 27/5, 30/5 and 2/6. Does that sound like total overkill? Reading other posts, sounds like most people only have them for 2-3 times?

I also had a blood test on 27/5 (1 week after injection) to check my levels and my estrogen is 523, and progesterone is 100. I asked her what these meant, if she could give me any indication or not if it's worked and all the nurse told me was that I have a 'welcoming environment'!!! I almost wet my pants laughing! Images of red carpets and brass bands went running through my head!!!

I have another blood test on the 6/6 to see if everything went the way it should have and I'm pg. Damn 2 weeks have never seemed so long!!!!

Stupid Pregnyl injections pretending to be pg symptoms and hormones in your body! I want to poas and cheat but know if I did and got a + I'd be devastated if the blood test came back negative.

Does what I'm doing sound right in terms of injections?

Sorry for the massive essay, I don't really know anyone else who's been through ivf of any sort and feel like my mind is whirling and going to explode with questions!

    Hi Sharron

    Welcome to BellyBelly!

We have just the place for you in our Long Term TTC two week wait thread and LT TTC Assisted Conceptions general chat threads where you can share your experiences and learn with others doing IVF either for the first or more times. Jump on in, you don't have to be alone on this journey to be a parent.

I am glad you are providing a 'welcoming environment' for your embryos
One other thing you are PUPO (pregnant until proven otherwise) - this may help you a bit for the rest of your TWW.

    xx

    Hi Sharon,

Congrats on making it to your two week wait and welcome to BellyBelly!

Technically ovulation induction (OI) isn't "IVF" as IVF is in-vitro (which means "in glass" eg in a lab) fertilisation. However all those injections and things are still just as stressful as in a full IVF cycle!

It can be hard to keep assisted reproduction a secret, especially as I'm sure you often get asked "when are you having another one?". It's nice to be able to vent and discuss things with close friends, and perhaps try not to tell everyone else a step-by-step update hee hee. That way you're protecting yourself no matter what the outcome is!

There's plenty of great threads on this forum so be sure to browse around!
