Post Taking the IVF Road.....I think???

    Hello Ladies

I have only been TTC for 6 months and I know its not long but we have been having unprotected sex for a few years and nothing.

Sooo since seriously trying we have been getting BFN.....

I just had my DH tested and he had a 6.0 million sperm count and 20% motility. We just had our first FS appointment with a professor in male infertility at the IVF clinic yesterday as I had all of my tests done prior which shows I am ovulating and very healthy. We did have more blood tests taken yesterday and are due back again next Tuesday for another SA then an visit with the FS in the afternoon. I guess for a review of tests again. My FS did say we could still fall pregnant naturally but thinks it will take a long time (that I dont understand ). What I also dont understand is how long does IVF take? I mean from when we see him next week do we you start taking tablets straight away do you have to wait 3 months. I dont know if I would need to take anything as I have been given the all clear with falling pregnant. Its all soooo confusing.

One thing is good though my DH doesnt seem at all worried that he has a low sperm count which is good after reading some of these threads. I also wanted to wish all the ladies lots of baby dust for their endurance is this emotional roller coaster.

Im just lost at the moment and feel cheated but that's another story.
    Good luck to all

    Hi,

From start to finish (ie preg test time) on a typical IVF cycle you'd probably be looking at about 6 weeks. Even though the fertility issue isn't yours, unfortuantely you still have to endure the treatments to allow you to produce a number of eggs for the cycle so that your chances are maximised. The bloke gets out of things very lightly! Start time is up to your Dr and your cycle - could be a couple of weeks could be a couple of months.

His SA isn't altogether that bad and like your Dr says, you'd probably get pregnant at some point anyway, but your chances each month are quite diminished meaning that statistically it takes longer. Given you are 35 you may wish to progress the IVF option sooner than if you were 25.

    Hope this helps.

PS - This thread will be useful to you I reckon: https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...f-dummies.html

I don't know which state you're in or if it's an Australia wide thing, but we had to have a compulsory
counselling session before starting ivf. They explain how the whole thing works etc, and give you a chance
to talk about how you're holding up if you feel like it! I remember that slowed us down a bit as we had to
wait for an appointment. My specialist also made me have a rubella shot, as my immunity was on the low
side, which meant we weren't allowed to ttc for a month after that.

    Good luck!

Hi Kyleep, just wanted to say goodluck with your journey and welcome!! Your partner is in the same boat as my DH, my DH has low sperm count and 1% motility. The specialists would probably recomend ICSI like us. It is very frustrating and you do feel very cheated but the IVF procedure isnt as bad as you think it will be, the nurses are very helpful and they help you along the way. Once we saw our specialist and got our IVF clinic appointment everything was pretty quick, i was lucky i started my period the following week of our appointment. You start your injections for a STIM cycle on day 21 of your cycle, so depending on where you are on your cycle its pretty quick. I hope this helps xx

    ME 23 & DH 25
    ICSI
    STIM CYCLE 3/10= BFN
    FET 5/10=BFN
    FET 6/10=?????
