    Hi Minnie,

I have used progesterone gel and from what I understand the side effects are pretty much the same. Cramping is the main side effect I had. Sore boobs too. Unfortunately the same kind of symptoms as AF or pregnancy. Your period will also likely be heavier and more painful.
Also, if you get utd, don't stop taking without medical advice as there is a risk of miscarriage if the levels of progesterone drop too quickly.

    Hope this helps!!

I didn't really suffer any side-effects from the Progesterone (besides maybe a slightly heavier period)

They can also be a little bit messy as they melt into a waxy substance, although you shouldn't have too much trouble, maybe wear a liner for the first day or two to see what happens.

I was on a one per day dose from the day of my BFP til about 11/12 weeks. They say you should lay down for awhile afterwards so if you're on once a day best do it before you go to bed.

I also got thrush from them if used vaginally, so I switched to rectally (ew I know but so much better in the long run!). Apparently they're absorbed better rectally as well.

    Good luck!

I dont recall any side effects of pessaries except if you stand up too soon after they run back out ewwwww I always used a panty liner when using them.

Good luck with it and I hope this is YOUR cycle!

    thanks girls for the advice

nothing2lose: thanks my dr said to keep using them until 10 weeks if i get pregnant, although im hoping to convince her to let me do it a bit longer than that as i have had a 9 week m/c in the past

kimmi: thanks for the tip, i'll wear a liner

bugsmum: interesting with the thrush, i'd say that will mean i get it to because it doesn't take much for me to get thrush, i'll keep your alternative suggestion in mind if i must lol

    they are horrid.
I never had any side effects though. Good luck!

ETA - I think you would start weaning from 10 weeks, finish around 12 weeks. By then the placenta has taken over so you don;t need them.
