What would you do? Start on next period or wait until after Christmas?

I just spoke to the nurse from my FC. I was going to pay for our FET today but we don’t pay until I start the drugs (on day 1 of the start of my period).

A cycle will take around a month. So, if for example (going by my last period) I started my period on 18 November I would commence the drugs. Then on day 10 (27 November) I would have a blood test and ultrasound at Canberra IVF. If all was good I would start on the pessaries. Then we could do the transfer anywhere from 3 December - I would probably wait until 10 December as I'll be on leave. The first blood test is two days later then the pregnancy test would most likely be on Christmas eve.

So, I’m wondering, should we wait until my period after this one and start in December for a transfer in January? What do you think?

We are having a lot of people over for Christmas and, in all honesty, I could probably do without the added stress.

Also, we have to fly to WA for the transfer as our frosty is currently residing there and we are in ACT.

I would wait. The reason being that if you need to go again with a stim (and I really hope you don't!) then you will have to pay the threshold amount again in the new year. Better to try to keep all treatment in one calendar year.

You know what....I didn't think of that! Doh!

We are going to play it by ear.... that is I will put in my script and get the drugs then wait for my period to turn up. If it looks like it's too close to Christmas I'll wait until after. Thanks!
