Hey all,

Hi Jo, how are you? I just looked at Storm's website, which brought on tears. We lost our first DD at 18 weeks also. 7 months for you now...HUGS.
We are all well here. Just trying to cope with the usual school dramas. Books not brought home, hockey sticks that "vanish", etc! The little ones are a joy. DD was one two weeks ago. DS no 2 will be 11 in October. He was trying to tell me yesterday that his birthday was in four weeks.
"No, eight weeks."
"No, four weeks Mum, don't you know when I was born?!"
"Yes, and you forgot about September."
"Oh yeah...."
we are te same, organising homework times around sport and designating jobs. Running to and from Kinder and school, and about to go to storytime at the library.
Ok guys, just a quick question (and don't get any ideas.... please!)
If I were to have five kids (which has always been my wish) what car would you recommend? I would like to avoid Taragos/Carnivals/vans if at all possible. What do you think?
Hey Div,
How about a Pajero or a Land Cruiser?
You could always get a BUS like me :p
we are thinking about getting a prado or a nisson patrol when and if we have a 5 th as well .
Opps sorry I forgot about you all!!
Can't catch up properly now but just wanted to say HI!!
Castle, is there something wrong with my website? (if you were referring to me that is ;) )
No Storm, I was looking at Jo's (JLK) website for her little 18 weeker, who was named Storm.
Divvy, there have been some other postings about cars/transport over the past few months! We have 4 & it depends on their age spread. Would have loved to keep the Pajero :) but since we had to have 2 car seats tethered, we had to get something with 2 seats in the middle, 2/3 in the rear. If the Pajero had had an aft-facing back seat (like the old volvo estate wagons?) so that the big ones could get in & out the back--then we probably would have stuck with that.
The other issue for us was that our big two are at the point of needing a full sized seat--not the knees up by the chest back seat that is in so many cars.
In fact, because of that, we are probably going to swap our current Hyundai Trajet for a Volkswagen van. I KNOW how you feel about the van thing...my big problem with the vans is that they're vans...but unfortunately that's what works best for us now.
We talked with several different car sales people & they all said, basically, there are no other options. Other than a bus like Tiggy's!!
We have a trajet & we are gonna trade it in for a Prado.
We have a trajet & are looking at trading for a prado.
Hey All, We are about to get a new van - YEH!!! We have at present an old 8 seater Nissan Nomad which is a bit squashy and doesn't have room for the buggy and wheelchair which is a real pain. My hubby is buying an ex childcare van that has 12 seats (I just hope he doesn't want me to fill all those seats in a hurry!!!) and room for all the kids gear. It also has the little extra luxury of retractable seatbelts! Most people don't think how much of a time saver that is with heaps of kids! This van only just fits into our carport and I am sure we will get stared at more when we go out but hubby is thinking of tinting the rear windows!!! Well gotta run - seeya.
Thanks guys. Will keep you updated (might take a few years though!)
hey guys are the vans really better than the 4wds i hate to go and buy a 4wd as their so expensive only to find out in a couple of years we need to get a van.i always thought the van wasnt for me but if its more pratical maybe when we have our 5th i should look at the vans instead
We used to have a starwagon, & it was really "vanny" but it was awesome too! I loved it. But not as much as the trajet, but it is really too small, there is no room for baggage & it is full now were don't have a spare seat, it's only a 7 seater.
Hi guys, its been a while ! I guess ya just tend to get caught up some days... especially once they get involved in different sports. We have swimming 4 afternoons a week here and Mitchie has just started mums and bubs yesterday and loved it so we actually go to the pool everyday now. Plus the girls just signed on for little athletics on a wed afternoon, so thats every week day taken care of, plus running DS to work a few evenings a week. I think i need an assistant :cryinglaugh::cryinglaugh::cryinglaugh:
Anyway on the car issue........ i know you are not really into vans Divvy but they have gotten better over the years.
We have 6 kiddies and some big teenagers so we needed the leg room and unfortunately most 4wd just don't allow for that! So we were looking at getting a tarago and then hubby came across the Mitsubishi Delica..
Let me tell you this is a great van, it has a nose on the front ( which was a issue for me) i like having that bit of room in front of me. You can get either a 7 seater with captain chairs in the middle row or a n 8 seater. By getting this you have the van advantage of leg room and its also a 4wd too:clap:
This was our compromise vehicle as hubby really wanted a 4wd and all i cared about was knowing that the kids were not sitting with their knees around their ears. If anybody is looking for a new vehicle i highly recommend these, basicly they are a pajero base ona starwagon shell. THey will go pretty much anywhere any other 4wd will go if you know how to drive a 4wd.
So thats my little input but seriously have a look on the net at them they are great!
Have a great day :D
Oh wow I think we looked at them too!I don't like the idea of the bigger kids with no leg room either. Wonder if Dh would compromise too
Hi ladies,
I am not sure if its ok to join as you all have a connection with each other and know each other well, so would make for a lil uncomfortable for me, but I would love to get to know everyone if that is ok. I tried once before but barley anyone would respond to me as no one knew me so I just stopped joining in. BUT I am really wanting to be able to have some adult conversation as I am not able to leave house very often as my pelvis has not fully healed and I still cannot move too well some days. Anyway hope I can become part of the "Group" this time and have a laugh, cry whatever with you all.
:D Of course you can join us Soul!!The more the merrier!!
What is wrong with your pelvis?
Hey storm
Thanks for the reply sweetie. When I was pregnant with Pheeny I had alot of trouble with my pelvis, not sure if you remember it or not but I could barley walk with carrying him. And it still has not settled yet doc said it is called pelvis something, lol, cant remember dys something! Oh I am stuffed if I know what its called! I still cant sleep in my bed because of it and so have been sleeping on the lounge chair for almost five months now. Driving me mad to be honest. I am looking forward to it settling down so we can start ttc number 7.
How are you sweetie?
Hi Soul! Sorry you're STILL not feeling back to normal. How is Phoenix going?
Babysitters--this is driving me made atm. I have to take DS to an eisteddfod tomorrow afternoon (in Abermain for all you HV girls). DH was supposed to be off so that a) he could sleep/rest at home while the babies slept in the afternoon and b) so I could spend some 1 on 1 time with my oldest. NOW dh has to travel for work and can't do it. So I am supposed to load the two little ones in the car, give them a quick car nap & then amuse them for a couple of hours while we wait for all the speech & drama performances which somehow never happen on time.
I rang my usual babysitter, who is a grandmother, but she cannot come b/c she has a family event on that afternoon. It is SO HARD to find someone who is happy to watch older children and babies, and someone who can come during the day.
I also need her next week...once again dh is suddenly going away for work...and she has jury duty!! OK I can't complain too much about that....but again the big two have an afternoon event, planned for a long time, that I have to attend (at least part of it). We don't have any family nearby, unlike everyone else in this city, it seems.
OK, vent is over! Hope you are all having a decent day.
Hi storm, yeah well tell him they are awesome my Dh is addicted to ours!!! Tell him t look online at the delica website ( do a search) and then he will see what other delica owners have to say bout them. It is a great compramise vehicle.
Hi and welcome soul, i am relatively new on here too and everyone has made me feel apart of the group, so i am sure you will feel welcome.
I had probs with my pelvis with my girls, my body was producing too much progesterone? adn made all muscles soften and therefore not supporting anything properly. My pelvis was always sore and use to crack when i walked and rolled over in bed! It was very painful, so i really feel for you hun.
Hi Castle, darl i really feel for you . We have the same prob, no family to rely on ( some close but not willing) and DH is very rarely able to help so i feel like i have to split myself to keep up! I hope you can find someone to help ease the load.
hi guys welcome soul im new as well and everyone has made me feel welcome as well .sorry to hear about your pelvis i had alot of trouble with mine when i was pg with jess but now its ok thank god for months after i had jess it used to .affect my back and if i uesd to stand for a long time it used to kill.sorry about your trouble with your babysitter castle hope everyone having a great week bye
I love our Kia carnival, it is a van but i DON'T FEEL LIKE i AM DRIVing a van at all. The 4wd would be greeat to tow our boat, so one day we may get one but will have a van for the everyday car
Ouchies on the pelvis Ladies!!
Castle is I lived a little closer I would offer to babysit, but grrr I know what you mean, it is so hard & Zaccie will not sit still for 5 mins.
Soul number 7???? wow, we are thinking of #6 soonish, good for you!!
I will get DH to look at some tonight! Thanks Katstribe ( or can I say Kat?)
HI to everybody else, gotta dash to pick the bigger kidlings up now
yeah of course you can storm, much easier and most call me kat or kath so whatever you put is cool with me. ;)
Mmmmmm number 7 !!!! I have thought seriously about that but DH isn't too keen, loves having a big family and would be keen to have as many more as i want if money wasn't an issue. So i guess i will be stopping now! Unsless fate says otherwise:pray::pray::pray: :cryinglaugh:
Anyway best go get tea and baths done and then all the other wonderful things that must be done
Its funny because its more that I know #7 is going to come more so than I am going to ttc for He/She does that make sense? I feel I know that there is another one waiting in the wings to join our family. Do any of you feel like this?
I feel like that Soul, whether we TTC or not I just know !!
He he I like your thought Kath, they are just like ours!
We are al lback together now, Dylan came home last Mon, he was gone for 1 month & 2 days.
I guess I just believe I am not given anymore I cant handle.Mind you there is no more after 7! He's getting the chop!
i think you know when youre done and you know when you want more .i think i want more not too many just one would be enough .im the same as u katsribe money is an issue kids are expensive
LOL! Mine would never get the chop & I would never get my tubes done again, & the pill makes me depressed & anti dtd, so I wonder what we will do ??????? LOL have lots & lots of kiddies?
I find it hard to say 'I don't want more kids.' It just seems too negative iykwim? My rational mind tells me that things are good as they are, and another would be stretching it....
Well i would love one more for many reasons (mainly just cause i love kids ) but also for Mitchie so he has someone at home as he will be at home all day every day with me for 5 years. My last two girls were close (21mths apart) and they adore each other and i would love that for mitchie too.
As for getting anything chopped or snipped not likely!!! DH and i have both said we came with all our bits and we will go with them too.:cryinglaugh: I can take the pill no worries, but i am not taking anything whilst i am BF though. I figure we were trying for our second last one whilst i was BF our third last and i couldnt concieve and as soon as i stoppped BF i fell straight away.
So if i am meant to have another then it will happen
I think you are right jessabell you know deep down (but sometimes you have to help DH to see the light:whip:) but unfortunately money does come into it ( if only it grew on trees like our kids seem to think)!!!!
I must admit castle that i have this tiny voice that says hey Kath you have 6 beautiful healthy children ( no :angel:MC or anything like that) so be greatful and don't push too far!!! But then i think but hey obviosuly i can carry no worries and well maybe?????
SO i just figure if it is meant to be it will be :D
Yep money is always a problem in this day and age so I guess its about being happy and affordable. We do not live above our means we have to budget and we dont buy anything we dont "Have" to have. We do not have any credit cards at all and we do not owe anyone any loans. If we cant pay cash ourselves we go without. We budget like crazy and we like the op shops and we buy the specials and we are a large happy family without worrying about who we owe this week lmao.
We are only getting the chop because we realise we cant go on having kids forever and we do not want any surprises later on when there is more chance of things going wrong when I am in my 40's. Stopping sperm coming is not the end of the world and we wont go to hell for it lol, well I hope not! I'm sure he will still function just great without sperm. Better safe than sorry I say but each to there own. I may change my mind if i decide on a 8th child!!! We dont need two cars, mobile phone bills, and all the other things that are not nessasary in life, we are happy with each other because at the end of the day when i look around the room its my family i want to see not a pile of un-nessasary bills! My kids dont miss out on anything they may just not own 30 tops from pumkin patch or have every toy on the market. ok ramberling!!!
I think all you women are amazing!
LMAO at the going to hell for it!!!!!! I totally agree, different strokes for different folks!!!! Man could you imagine how boring this world would be if we were all the same!!!!
Our kids don't have all the fancy clothes and stuff either , they each have some nice clothes but mainly run about stuff (its way more practical).
 Love this fab group of supportive mums!
I agree castle, its great to be involved with a group who you can talk so freely to.
Well said Castle!!
Your all such great easy to talk to women! I already feel comfy! lol I sure know I dont want as many as the duggers! Cripes I would hate to see her insides. But I think she is so brave to have so many.
How do you go in your home for chores? Also my teenages have this real atitude about them, and I wonder if others are like this as well?
Do you feel over whelmed when you have those moments of "wow they are all myn and so beautuful"?
Hi soul, i'm reasonably new to this site, and like you, feel a little daunted by how well the other ladies get along. I've been reading back through all the old threads so i can find out about everyone, feel a bit more like i know them now !!
It's great to be able to talk to other mum's that understand. Hope your pelvis feels better soon, and good on you for trying for #7 if you know that's what you want, i'm sure there have been people who have tries to talk you out of it or tell you your mad!!!
