Never though I'd qualify for the large family thing :lol:... hardly anyone I know IRL has more than 3 kids, it wasn't until I got on BB that I realised how many larger families were out there. I keep telling DH 6 is a reasonable number.... ;)
Hi Jasp - I really don't think I qualify to be here as I only have 3 kids, however, my DH works from home so I really do have 4 kids at home lol!!! We are above the average 2.3 kids and we do get large family supplement from Centrelink ($3 something). Plus I love hearing about big families, always have. As a child most of my friends came from 4 plus kids and so loved going to their houses to play...
Lol Bek that $3 supplement is helpful, isn't it :doh:
I should clarify - I don't know anyone IRL with 4 kids, and only a handful with 3. So in my world, you qualify ;)

Hi ladies, just popping in to let you all know I haven't dropped off the face of the earth!! Just been really busy, with a frustrated little one I think he is teething, but he is being such a velcro boy he he he well that's my excuse anyway !!
Mmmm I dont really have a laqrge family, only 3 winkies... Have been TTC our 4th but it looks like that isnt going to happen, so I am now learning to be content with the 3 H&H winkies I have...
I have 5 sisters and a brother, I loved coming from a larger family, I think it was a great way to grow up ( not that I know any other way lol )...
anyway I hope you dont mind me joining in, I was hoping to be able to join in once I was UTD, but as I said that isnt going to happen now, so here I am :lol:
I love Christmas, I am very lucky to say that I still have a 9 yr old who still believes, which I think might be the last year, so I hope to make it speical for him, it will be a sad day when he is no longer a believer, the 1st real step into adulthood...
we use the potato method in my house, I grew up with it, so works well to keep them inline in the lead up to christmas time... ( a potato i like a lump of coal it repersents a present you should have gotten but didnt because you misbehavied ( sp?) so my lot normally get one or two... help for whe you in the shops from now on, I am foreve saying santa is watch you and counting out your spuds... you should see how fast they come back to my side ;) )
we too have everthing on layby and wait to christmas eve to pick up... but this year I have a friend who said I could hide them at her house, so we might be picking them up soon, I hate the shops in dec too busy...plus the one up here is already really cramped, I would hate to see it in dec...
well I guess I have dripbled enough crap for now.... looking forward to getting to know you all, that is if you dont mind me been in here, with only a small family...

Around here where I am 4 is normal - there are so many families with 4 or more children and a few with 3 and even less with one or only 2 children.
2 is the norm in our circle, but the school I have Sara into has a lot of 4 plus families.
I actually can't believe some of the comments we get with having the 3 kiddies. Its like we are a strange phenomenon (sp?)

Nic - We usually get comments like - I see your attempt for a boy didn't work, are you going to temp fate again? or You know it is all your DH's fault that you didn't get a boy!!! or You should should try a special diet if you are going to try again or What happens if you have 4 girls???
it is so frustrating isn't it.. when we had our 3rd boy one comment I had just made me so mad.. Are you disappointed he was a boy? I said yeh sure.. might put him back till his bits fall off.. such comments don't even need to be said..

I have a very very very very annoying 4 yr old. He has been like this since September. I am starting to wonder if he doesn't have a virus or something or maybe he is just being a total.. poop head.
at the moment he is sitting in the hallway crying and yelling. has been doing this for the past 40 mins because................ I dared turned off the kids channel to watch the melbourne cup.. and he does it over everything.. if you don't get him a juice or cordial (no I don't give in) We have a rule. water before any other drink. So frustrating
Nic - My nearly 4 yo has become really emotional lately and she is starting to make smart remarks under her breath lol and listening...whats that???
It must an age thing then.. So frustrating. Niether of my older 2 boys did that at 4.
I do wonder if he is getting bored. it is usually to hot to go out the backyard in the mornings and if Dh isn't home or is asleep after night shift we don't do much ( no license for moi)
Nic if the others are all at school I would say its boredom, I know my youngest is the same if we dont go out ( thank God I did get my license when I found out I was utd with Ds ) ...
I found people always said when I was UTD with my 3rd... why would you you have one of each isnt that enough... now when I say I would love a 4th, I dont get as many comments its almost like its ok because it will make our family even :shakehead:, that said now I am not even sure if we will have 4...
Coming from a large family and even now telling people I am one of 7 with 5 sisters and one brother, they always ask if my parents were trying for the boy... like a boy is all they wanted and us girls werent good enough for them... I was lucky though as my brother came 1st and us girls came after, so even with comments like that we always knew our parents wanted us for us and not for the boy... not that would have been the case even if he did come last, they just wanted a big family, or should I say mum did, Dad always said he only wanted 2 or 3, not that he doesnt love us, its just the number he wanted, mum wanted 8, she lost one so in a way she did...
BHL did a turn around the other day... we have been TTC our 4th for 11mths, about 2 or 3 mths ago BHL started to get 2nd thoughts about the 4th, I was very upset, but understood, so last month I stoped temping, charting started the caffine again, but sisnt go back on anything... then the other day BHL was joking around about maybe he should give up caffine too... I was talking about someone who just had a baby, and that there are 5 woman UTD who I meet up with every week... so he come out with do you really think we could travel australia ( we are planning on this in a few years ) with 4 kids... Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr men always like to give you a curve ball... I am still not getting my hopes up seeing as its been 11mths and nothing has happened, I think I will just leave it as it is for now and see what happen, if its meant to be it will be.... we are young and have plenty of time...
I have to admit 4 is a little tough to begin with but we have settled into a nice little thng now. I can't say routine because we are fairly flexible but we have a flexible routine I guess lol
When I brought up the idea of number 4 with Dh he was adamant 3 was plenty. I used to talk and talk and beg :lol: in the end I had decided ok 3 was enough and later that week Dh turned around and said ok lets go for a 4th haha.. :rolleyes:
so here we are number 4 and we travel Australia :) We did it with 3 kids in 06 and all 4 in July/august this year :) It can be done and is a lot of fun.. Our next trip is to WA
Ahh yeah, men & their curveballs... DH only wanted 2, then we had 3, I was dying for a 4th but he was definite.
I used to dream of babies & wake up crying :(
When I found out I was PG with AR he was more excited than me, I couldn't quite grasp it was real... so anyway he changed his tune in a heartbeat when he found she was on the way.
And when I told him about the dreams I had he said he didn't know, why hadn't I told him... becasue you were so adamant you didn't want more ! :wall:
oh well :)
TBH I haven't (so far) found four any harder than going from two to three, but I have a BIG advantage with the age gap. If I had had it my way, I would have done it earlier but I do think it's turned out for the best as it is. The other kids are such a huge help & pretty well able to look after themselves. Probably teh biggest thing is that we are busy, there's a lot more going on but she fits in pretty well & we have at least 2 days a week just at home, her & I :)
This has been very true in our case too. Plus all three including the 3 year old boy loves their little brother to pieces. We don't make the older two only do babysitting duty and never do anything they want, but they do help out from playing with or keeping an eye on the younger two. It's been a very big help and although dW is not keen on having baby's this late in life, I think it has worked out better this way.:
Now she wants more and all three of the older kids want another baby too.
