completely OTT but likely the current saying under your username - it's very apt for my life at the moment.
I thought I was done at 3 as well lol. My now XH had the snip and everything so that was good but the marriage didn't last and I still thought 3 was ok until I met my current DF lol. He didn't have any children and he worked on the rest of the kids to harass me into having another one :) well we had the 4th one and she was a sickly baby too with silent reflux and colic but she was about 6 months old when we started trying for another one so she would have someone closer in age to play with. Hello number 5 and she is a blessing. Well here we are now about to start ttc number 6. I'm hoping that I won't feel the urge anymore after this next one lol.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but from the small bit of school resaerch that I've been doing - 4th + children are often free. However, I'm not sure if that is only valid when 4 or more children are in the enrolled in the same school at the same time, or if it just applies to the 4th child to be enrolled in the same school full stop. IYKWIM? Can any of you ladies confirm this for me?

Of course, this is not reason alone to have a 4th child - but it does make it more appealing if you are already seriously condidering it!
JellyBean - I've always read it as 4 at the same school at the same time - haven't had to test it yet though so can't actually confirm it.
ok so I think I am done at 3.
The more time that passes the less I feel the urge for #4.
And also I think I have made the decision to apply for uni and do nursing/midwifery. By the time I do the 4 years at deakin my youngest will be starting school. If I don't get in then maybe I'll go #4 :p

Hannahbanana - I have 3 girls and although DD3 is a gem I've really struggled at times with having 4 and under 3. DD3 is 13 months now and for at least 3 months I have considered number 4. There are a lot of reasons not to have another baby, mostly practical ones. I constantly question if I can handle anymore and I am getting to the stage of choosing some study path and I am keen to get into shape and gain some of pre baby self back. Another reason is that all my friends kids are a bit older and they are doing social things that I haven't been able to do up until now. DD1 starts school next year and I am looking forward to doing some school help and spending more quality time with DD2 and DD3.....

I still have a fire in my heart for one more. I am actually in tears some days thinking that number 4 may not ever happen. So I have decided to wait 6 to 12 months to make the final decision. And this may sound strange but I had a dream about 2/3 weeks ago about my little boy. I don't know if it was a spirit of one of my angel babies or if it was my 4th child. All I can is that my heart was filled with pure love and I can shake the dream..to this day

I just wanted to say that I know how you feel. I have 3 boys, my eldest starts school next year and my baby is about to turn 16 months. Since about his 1st birthday I have been constantly swinging between wanting another baby and sticking with just 3.
As you said practically 3 is far easier but that earning for 4. I too wonder is it partly because I am still hoping for that elusive girl. Anyway just wanted to say hugs, and I have days where I cry over it too.

I currently have 2 close girlfriends who are weeks away from giving birth. They both have 2 girls and are hoping for a boy. I guess it will be interesting to see what they get and how I feel.
I would have always loved 4 children, in an ideal world I would have had 2 and 2 but wasn't meant to be.
How does your DH feel about going for a 4th?

It is hard when others around you are pregnant. I also find it hard when ppl have little boys, although I know I am very blessed with 3 healthy and vibrant girls.
My DH is swinging like me atm. He is not ready to make a final decision but he also knows that financially we are better off if we stay at 3. There is more chance that I can go to work in a couple of years etc. How about your DH?
My DH is happy with the 3 boys. As much as he would love to have a daughter he doesn't want another baby. Where as I'm different I know that I would cope with another one. I find it hard in as much as I don't want to force him into something he doesn't want but then I don't want to live the rest of my life regretting not having another baby. I worry that I would then resent him for that. It is that real catch 22 situation where no one wins. I'm lucky in that I have really good pregnancies and easy births, so far I have had babies that have been decent sleepes etc so I'm not really concerned about that whole baby stage again.
I want a decision in the next month because I really want to start trying in December, but as I said my DH and I have been discussing this since May and still haven't come to a resolution cos when he says no I just start crying
Megs - It is hard when your partner is not on the same page. On days when the kids are hard work my DH vows never again and I guess I do too lol. I have found number 3 quite difficult because she just wasn't a good sleeper, plus I really persisted with bfing which I did not do with my older girls. All up the last year has been rough on me and I am only just feeling human again. If we went for number 4 I'd be trying from December onwards too.
I guess I was lucky, my number 3 has been a dream, easiest birth by far, was sleeping from 11pm til 7am at 6 weeks, we had a little bump with sleeping around 4 months, then he started solids and within a couple of months was back to normal. Even now he sleeps from 8pm til 7.30am every morning, only when he is really unwell is he sometimes unsettled. I think if he was more hardwork I may have been satisfied.
DH other concern is that we live on a farm so we are quite isolated in some respects. Town is a 30min trip for me, but I cope with it quite well and just have to be organised to co-ordinate my appts etc. I think it is more DH knows he will be getting busier with his commitments to golf e.g they want him to go in as President, so I think that's why I'm sticking to my guns because if we don't have another bub and then in 2 years time he is president of the golf club I just know I will turn into the wife from hell.
