Cool Who Doesnt Like Vegemite ?

I absolutely love vegemite and always have i dont know any australian who doesnt love it. I have it on crumpets, jatz, toast etc my twins love it aswell. I know from tv that anyone who wasnt born in Aus absolutely hates vegemite. So if theres anyone out there who doesnt like vegemite id love to know why ?

I'm going to put my hand up and say I don't actually LOVE vegemite, though everynow and then I'll just want to try it again, so I'll have a little bit on a slice of toast- then thats usually my little fix done and thats it for a couple of months. So I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate it, but I definitely don't love it

sorry, forgot you also asked why - I find it a little too salty for me and a rather strong taste. Occassionally when I've had that little craving, I'll more likely put some avocado with it also to 'tone' it down.

oh im not a fan of avocado but that does sound nice... i love vegemite and cheese. When i think about it, it is salty and very strong but i guess ive eaten it so much i dont notice it now im just used to it.

I HATE it. I think it's the most repulsive substance known to humans and I can't believe anyone buys it.

Disclaimer: I was born in Canada and am also half-American so that could be why but I think it's like ingesting a glop-full of the most salty, tar-like stuff packaged as edible food. I was tricked into eating it the 2nd day I moved to Australia 4yrs ago and I literally vomited the toast right back up into the sink!

Oh - and my running joke whenever I hear on tv or read in the newspaper that Australian children are suffering an obesity problem is that Aussie kids really aren't overweight at all. It's just all the water retention from consuming too much salt thanks to Vegemite. I actually wouldn't be surprised if that were true!!

omg i thort my DS was the only one in Australia allegic to it...doc advised me to just keep gving it to him every now and then as his reaction wasnt to bad and his body would build up an immune to it...he eats it all the time now with just a tiny reaction...

my self i do like it but i have to be craving it to eat it!!

Gingerly raises hand - it's not even in my house! Occasionally I might like a very, very thin scrape on a cruskit. But it's rare.

I can't stand vegemite. My husband calls me un-Australian because I don't like vegemite and I don't like tomato sauce!

My DD loves it at the moment (she's 14 months). She's been eating it now and then since about 10 months.

^ Eh, I'm not big on tomato sauce either. But then, I hate footy, cricket and tennis so I guess the only Aussie thing about me is my love for Vegemite

Im not overly fussed on vegeimite, I wouldnt eat it eveyday but I dont hate it! Ds loves the stuff! But it spread very thinly!

Isnt great we all have different tastes the world would be pretty boring if we all liked the same stuff

Neither my husband (Dutch) or myself eat Vegemite. He has never liked it and I think I don't like as it was mainly all we had for lunches when young.
I think we must have had the record for the smallest jar kept for the longest time. When my DD2 was living in Qld we had a small jar here for when she came home during the year. She eats it on toast with honey. Shudder

On the other hand my brother LOVES the stuff and cannot have breakfast without it spread on his toast like he is tarring the road. He even has a small scraper he uses to make sure he leaves nothing in the jar. A LARGE jar does go down well for Christmas & birthdays
