3 MC's. Starting IVF & PGD, any advice?

Cuddlepie - where I am located we have to ring the clinic between 2.30 and 4.30 pm those weekdays we have BT's or US for further instructions. The FS comes in before then and tells the nurses what to instruct the patients. I have asked about the follicle number and been told there is no "cut off" number as such. Each patient is judged individually. Because I have (sorta) done two cycles they already have an idea of how many follicles I might produce. He was happy with 8 the other day, so am hoping he is happy with my potential 6... As for PGD, I have been told that they do like a few to biopsy. My thoughts are even if we get just one day 5 blast I would want it biopsied. That is, after all, the whole point of our doing this.

Me update: E2 now 4200. Much nicer level. One more night of Orgulutron and one more BT then EPU forecast for Saturday (still will not know until tomorrow afternoon). As I already had a couple of follicles that were 21mm am a bit concerned they will not be around by Saturday :rolleyes:. Just how big do follies get? Anyone know?

Saturday is not too far away, so hang in there! I find the day after trigger is absolute a bless, no drugs, no jabbing or b/t...just like a normal person :D

Not sure about the size of the follicles, maybe 22mm, but really not sure so don't let me scare you...

WTH: Keeping fingers crossed for you for Saturday hang in there think your DH is really good try to go with what he says. When I had my first consultation with the nurse I did ask her what follice numbers I could expect and she said that at my age 6 would be good. I did the same that you did and calculated that this means if all goes well one embryo to transfer or none depending on the PGD result and if I am incredibly lucky there may be two. But even if there is no transfer just going through the process will tell you a lot about the next time. Thinking of you: go follies go!

Cuddlepie: Have you started the jabbing yet? I started yesterday night but did something really stupid I read the syringe wrong and only injected half the amount, realised that this morning and injected the other half. Have now talked to the nurse and she said that should be okay as the first day wouldn't be so important as long as I do the right amount tonight, very relieved after talking to her.

Meredith: hope all is well with you - do you already know when you're starting? Would be really nice if we're cycle buddies too.

Have done lots of bush walking in the last few days we did over 20km on the first two days and then shorter but more stenous walks the next few days. Taking it easy today to relax. There is lots of wildlife here, saw a whole koala family - mother with baby!- in a tree - it's koala mating season and we can hear them grunting through the night over the claming waves of the ocean, also realised it's full moon - so taking all of this as really good signs.

Glad to hear from you Sara, so pleased that you are enjoying the holiday, yeah, I was going to say about 'seeing the Koala family', very good sign! You know I am supersticious! :redface:

I think the nurse is right, 1st day is only to start things up, so as far as you do the righ dose from then on should be fine and best to inject same time each day so your body get used to it.

I will start Lucrin on 15th (Saturday) so will pick it up this Friday from Birken heads...kind of looking forward to it....

Lisa - I don't know what to say expect I am so, so, so sorry for you. I hope you have supportive friends and family around you right now. YOu may never have actually been pg but I think the loss is certainly as tragic. I think you have brought home howscary this whole process is for all of us. The thought of no embies to transer terrifies me but I guess I should prepare myself as a real possibility.

Sara - glad you are having a great time in or beautiful Victorian bush! Jabbing already... yeh for you!! I am taking my last OCP tommorrow so expecting AF Mon/Tues and then straight onto FSH jabbing as we are doing sort cycle.

WTH - praying you got the all GO today and EPU still scheduled for Sat. 6 eggies could be plenty if they are good ones . You might get a pleasant suprise at how many make it through PGD!
Not sure ow big follies could get and still be ok for IVF but i know that in a natural cycle, you won't get LH surge until they are 22-24mm

CP - I totally get you on the lack of interest in day-to-day life. I feel like my life has been on hold for over 12mths. Just waiting for the day when I can hold another baby and BREATHE again. Not long to go until you start up again and at least it all brings hope back.

Me - just counting the days until I start jabbing next week. Got to pick up some of the other meds I will be on in addition to IVF stuff so starting to feel more real

Hi everyone.

Well, triggered last night. EPU scheduled for 10.15am tomorrow. Most people seem to have EPU quite early in the morning so I am hoping this late time does not affect anything.

Being my panicky self :rolleyes:, my latest worry is I will ovulate before EPU and blow $3.5K on empty follicles. I have heard of other women ovulating early and missing out.

I really had no idea about how the IVF rollercoaster starts during stims. I thought it all started from EPU onwards. Already feeling emotionally taxed and having trouble washing away all this damn pessimism. As you guys can appreciate, DH and I have had such a difficult year (and a bit) and we just want to know when things are going to start getting better! I think my negative frame of mind may be a protection sorta thing. If I have no expectations then I am less likely to get hurt (again).

Will let you all know the eggie outcome in the days to come :pray:

WTH, the EPU time should be around 36 hours after trigger, so I assumed that you trigged at 1015pm last night, there shouldn't be an incident that you Oed early then.

Yeah, I can definitely relate to your 'negative frame of mind', it is self-preservation and protection. I am already not having high hopes for this cycle, I just want to get some decent embies to freeze.

Meredith, we will be so close in the cycle then. I just got Lucrin today and will be jabbing tomorrow....:D I got a bit fright when picked up Lurcin, before the syringe was in individual plastic bag, now they are all neatly standing up in a box and packed in separate plastic little tube, gee, its getting more sleek. I truly wish this will be my last possession of Lucrin though as much as I like designer product...

As soon as I picked up the needle I got a bit nervous...I don't know, in the past few days, although days has been drawn closer but like its not that real, now it is all starting again. I hope I will keep anxiety at bay...keep sleep walking CP...:shhh:

WTH, 7 is a great number, lucky No. 7 too! Woo hoo! I hope EPU went ok and you are feeling alright, must be relived! Now you've done the hardest part, I am so looking forward when this step is over, this is the part I am most nervous of the whole process!

Got the result...

The swimmers managed to penetrate all 7 eggies (God bless DH), but only 4 fertilised. No idea if we will get to blast. There is a big drop off in numbers from Day 3-5. Will be updated next on Tuesday avo with numbers and grading of the embryos :pray:

I am a carrier of Haemophilia and just about to start PGD IVF at Syd IVF.

The whole process sounds and feels a bit scary.
