Advice for a male.

My wife and I have been trying to conceive for a while now over 3+ years. Being Male I don?t understand all the terms on this forum but I have read many pages for many months now.
We have just completed our second cycle of IBF. Again we got 10+ eggs but again the same story that none will last past day 3 and none could be frozen. So we had 2 eggs places back in, one at 8 cells and one at 6 cells. He is my question.
29th May had eggs put back in, two weeks later 12th June blood test came back as a Positive Low Pregnancy? We have been advised to come back in after 21 days this Thursday. My wife has experienced some pain, she thinks she is getting her period and she said she has some spotting and without getting into details with me, she just said it?s not normal.
For the ladies who have had success does any of the above sound normal. Low Pregnancy result and spotting for about 2-3 days but not full on after 15 from transfer?

what i have learnt with pregnancy is it is common for some light spotting in early pregnancy its called implantation bleeding u could maybe google it? if your concerned i would go to dr or re test.

Yeh thanks, due for that this Thursday re second test. Just trying to get some advice and prepare for the fall out of a negative result if that is going to be the case, my fear is that she has had a miscarriage as for one she has started spotting and no 2 she had a Low Positive Pregnancy test to which I googled and got very little back in terms of information.

not being a dr and every case being so different all i can say is try not to worry yet i know u will I would! I would if me go to chemist and re test at home rather than waiting a few days altho the result may not be good. Hard call hey!

I think its really hard to say until your wife has the repeat test. They will be re-testing her HCG to see how much it has risen by, if it has not risen by much then it will possibly be an early miscarriage. However, having said all of that, my HCG started off rising slowly, then came good and now I am 32 weeks pregnant. I also had some spotting at about 6.5 weeks and 9 weeks as well.

So to answer your question, I would say that there isn't really a "normal" for early pregnancy at all There is an "ideal" which obviously is no bleeding or spotting, and a perfectly rising HCG, but things can still work out even these are not "normal" too. Not much help really am I?! But wishing you and your wife heaps of good luck

Thanks anyway. I guess even before I posted I knew there wasn?t a clear answer, there never is!!
I read a lot of these posts and I guess like me there are many people out there that just want some certainty or hope which cannot be given that it may have finally worked for them, at the end of the day we will roll the dice again and see what the tests show on Thursday.
I feel for all the people on this forum that are trying for kids, there is no correct answer. Thanks for the responses and I will post back on Thursday and share the result which may just help someone else out there with similar symptoms.

Droche, first of all, congratulations of getting a positive pregnancy result! I know this is trying time but try not to worry until the second blood test is done. Some people do have cramps or light spottings during the time they normally would have period, and went on having healthy pregnancies. And appearantly it is very common for people have these sympotoms during early pregnancies.

Best of luck for this Thursday and I hope the HCG will be nice and high!

After nagging the wife she just rang and spoke to the Nurse, she is going back in tomorrow for a blood test again. Either its working and attaching or it has failed.

I must admit, this forum is very useful to the people out there that have no idea.
As I said before I have read so many posts for over a year so I could understand and gain some sort of understanding of the process and offer support to my wife.
Like many people out there you start this process with no clues as to what is right or wrong.
Side effects to the different drugs, Blast Transfer, the knowledge helps when speaking to the Doctors, eg one of two eggs, 3 days and 5 day transfer.
The worst thing you can do is to just go with the flow. After trying Pre IBF (pregnol???) with just the drugs we finally went to a different Doc who kindly told us that with the dosage that we were on that we had been wasting 2 years of our time. That was good to hear. Like any sort of operation do your research and dont take anyones word as gospel.
We are all paying a lot of money to do this, so don?t take no as an answer and ask plenty of questions, thats our right..

Anyway better go and make some money to pay for this. Will post tomorrow with hopefully a positive result.

Just read your first post again regarding 10 eggs but none go pass Day3, I thought to let you know that when there is a big drop off from Day 3-Day5, this is when sperm DNA start to kick in, so it is worthwhile to get a test called SCSA done on the sperm. It shows the % of DNA fragmentation in the sperm. Anything over 30% is hard to result a live birth.

I didn't mean to add another thing for you to worry about, but I wish I'd know this earlier before I wasted a two cycles to find this out, especially this is quiet easily fixed just by taking some vitamins.

Hope tomorrow b/t will show some positive result and you don't even need to think of this...
