My husband and myself have been on the IVF trail for 2.4 years and have tried as far as we know, everything !!!
Our history in a quick nutshell is as follows -
reason on IVF (ICSI) Hubby Low sperm.
I have turned 41and hubby is 36,
11 transfers - no success - never pregnant.
8 transfers, day 3 and all long stim cycles
3 transfers, blast and have done antagonist, boost and the last one we just did was Colorado.
I had a laperoscopy last year - all healthy and I have also had the blood tests, all was good. Hubby and I have great fertilisation rates last cycle out of 10 eggs - 8 fertilised,
2 make it to blast, but somehow we are never getting pregnant.
Firstly we wanted to know whether we have tried it all, or is there some other drugs we could try ? and Secondly any other information or stories would be greatly appreciated - weare at the point of ripping our hair out in frustration as we do not know why we are not getting pregnant, our doctor says if we don't get pregnant soon he will personally jump off a bridge, as he can't tell us why we are not getting pregnant. Has anyone had a similar situation and then been lucky to have a baby ? Is there still hope ?
Sorry you have had to endure such a long road to have a bub, I know how you feel.
I am in a similar situation to you, and the only suggestion I could make is to perhaps freeze your embryo's after fertilization. As one FS suggested to me that my body may be "tired" from the stims.
We tried this, and it did work, unfortunatly it ended in ectopic. I have had every known treatment to man as well, on the first successfull cycle which was a FET, we didn't even have accu or BD the night before transfer.
I wonder whether we have the same FS as mine says a bfp will come our way too, as I am a robust responder like you.
Im sure you have your DH on Menevit, and one FS suggested I take Q10, and I make sure I have a home made protein shake, every other day.
Hope4ababy - I hear you barking big dog!! We have been TTC since 2002 and have just done our 5th stim and about to undertake our 4th FET. We are 'unexplained' however I do have endo although I have never had any symptoms and all of our tests have come back clear.
We always gets heap of eggs which fertilise nicely and we get plenty of blasts. We have seen three different specialists in Qld who all say 'it's a numbers game' 'keep trying' etc. But I just don't understand how they can say that - there must be something wrong.
We have had several chemical pregnancies but for the first time ever we got two positive HPT on the weekend however I miscarried on Monday but my HCG levels were 46. Sounds strange but I am sooo happy because for once we had a positive and my levels were up there.
Anyway I believe the reason for this is because we are now seeing Dr Gavin Sacks at IVF Australia and he diagnosed me with elevated NK cells which he believes are attacking the embryo and not allowing it to grow. I am on prednisolone and clexane and I firmly believe that this treatment will get us our take home bubba.
Google some info on it and perhpaps arrange a test through Dr Sacks - it may be the one thing going wrong.
Hello, for where you find yourself at the moment. My DH and I started IVF for similar reason to you - low and poor sperm quality. We were told that we should fall pg with the embies from our first pick up, but did not. After 5 failed transfers and a lot of tears and grief, I pushed for further tests to see if there were other reasons why we were not falling pg. I was diagnosed with antinuclear antibodies which was preventing the embies from implanting...hence we were never getting a BFP. There have been a few of us here who have similar stories.
If you have already had these tests, then sorry for bringing them up again, but if you have not, it is worth asking your FS about. Dr Gavin Sacks is a bit of a guru in this area and could also be worth researching him and consulting with him if you feel that you need a second opinion. This was going to be our next step if we had not got our BFP. I guess my only advice is to keep pushing your FS for options if you feel that there is something not right. That is what we did, and I know that my FS expected all the tests to come back fine, but they did not. I knew that things were not right and wished that I had spoken up earlier!
Wishing you lots of luck and strenght. Please PM me if you have any questions.
Best wishes.
FG
Hi there, Hope4ABaby.
I'm sure you've done your research, but I have happened upon Dr Sher's blog and found it really useful. It's IVF Authority. You can search for the articles there on the main factors affecting implantation, and this includes possible hidden sperm DNA factors. Has your husband had a sperm DNA integrity test (which tests for DNA fragmentation)? I find this stuff really tricky, but perhaps you know all this already?
It's my next question for my FS.
If you have any more knowledge than I do, I'd love to hear it. Let us know how things go with your next appointment.
