Colarado Treatment ?

I have been on the IVF trail for 2 years now and have tried to get pregnant for nearly 4 years (2 natural). I Have done day 3's on long stim cycle, and last two cycles antagonist. Have had good egg collection and hubby and I get 63% fertilisation rates. Last time we tried a Blast and we did not get pregnant. Have heard from other people on IVF to only continue blasts due to higher chances. Have decided to continue with blasts and Iam doing the next drug cycle - the boost cycle and see what happens, doctor suggested try a different regime and hope for different results. Last August I had a laperoscopy to make sure I had no problems, all fine, Doctor said there is no reason that is stopping me form getting pregnant. I have also had all the blood tests known to woman - also no problems. The reason we are on IVF is hubby has low sperm, so we are doing IVF (ICSI) to assist that situation and as I have said we are having good fertilisation. Like most of you I am also taking Chinese herbs and doing accupuncture. I am getting really frustrated with our situation as I am sure you all understand, and sadly time is clicking away and I turned 41 last september. I am thinking that if the next cycle doesn't take I might try the Colorado treatment as I have heard alot of successful stories from this treatment, has anyone got any information on this or has tried it would apprecite any extra information or anything thing else I haven't tried that might help - thnaks so much.

I know the feeling of wanting to try every new procedure, anything that may get a BFP

I too, am in Melb and went to see a new fertility specialist to arrange the Colorado. I decided to not go ahead with it, as the thought of adding a steroid to my basket of IVF meds, really didn't appeal to me. I even spoke with a FS in Brisbane on Wed to travel up there, as he is willing to add different meds to the mix.

I dont personally think the Colorado, is the answer, I think you need too, if you are able, to keep trying and hopefully the right egg will appear

Hi hope4ababy - Not sure if I can be of help, but I hear you!...I know exactly what you mean with the worry of the age thing. I've just started doing Emotional Freedom Technique as a way to ease my anxiety. I seriously was fearing that it will never work. Not only that, Dr Google got me some wonderful lists of people who got preggie 40yrs + - both natural and IVF so don't give up!!..is a numbers game.
As with the Colorado - I'm in the beginning of a cycle at the moment - been stimming only for 5 days. In regards to the steriod meds - yes I too was ofcourse extremley worried - read alot of the horrible side affects & did not want to go down that path - I told my FS my concerns & with the weight gain, anyway I was pleasantly surprised that my script was only for 1mg of Dexamethasene (spelling?)...and I truly haven't had any side affects from it. I read people were taking 50mg?..I think its suppose to help with the NK Cells and I'm on the borderline.
The only other meds with the Colorado are the blood thinning clexane, antibiotics & then the progesterone injects.

So I'm relieved to say my main worry of the Steriod has relaxed immensley. There is alot to remember & do but so far doesn't feel any different from my last 4 flare cycles. I heard its got good success rates for us youngungs. I like the way the FS is 'throwing everything at me'. Its the most $$$ cycle though!!! for the meds.

Hi everyone,

If you google Colorado Protocol, you will get quite a few discussion topics on this. Here is a summary anyway:

THE COLORADO

The Colorado is a treatment to improve the lining of the Uterus to aid implantation of the embryo.

STAGE ONE
1. Commence Baby Asprin (Astrix, Cartia, Cardiprin) when you commence the Syneral or Lucrin. This can be purchased over the counter at your pharmacy.


STAGE TWO
2. Your husband commences Doryx 100mg twice a day for 7 days when you commence Gonal F or Puregon.
3. Cease the Asprin on the day of your first ultrasound.


STAGE THREE
4. Commence Prednisolone 25mg at night on the day after the Profasi/Pregnyl injection (trigger) and take for 5 nights.
5. Commence Augmentin 500mg orally twice a day on the day after the Profasi/Pregnyl injection and take for 5 days.


STAGE FOUR
6. The day after the egg pickup commence:-

a) Crinone (Progresterone gel) one application each morning. (old protocol was proluton injections).

b) Estraderm mx patches 100mcgm two applied to the buttock (one on each buttock). Change alternative days.

7. The day after the egg pickup, recommence the Baby Asprin.
8. Have intercourse the night before embryo transfer.


OTHER

* Asprin, Crinone/Estraderm Patches Continue until the pregnancy test.
* If the test is positive treatment continues to 6 weeks.
* If the ultrasound shows a viable pregnancy all the treatments continue until 13 weeks are completed.
* The Asprin continues to the 34th week of the pregnancy.


I tried this protocol for my 4th stim cycle/5th ET, which was not successful. My FS had previously given me BTs for all the immunological/genetic issues, and nothing had come up positive, so we tried this as a just in case meaure. I did google Prednisone and made a bit of an excutive decision to stay on it at a very low dose between cycles, and up the dose as per above from trigger and until BT. Also, when I changed FSs, my new FS felt that as I had no side effects, she was happy for me to stay on. So I ended up being on Prednisone for approx 5 months before I got my BFP. I did later test positive for MTHFR (my original FS missed this one) and was put on Clexane injections from EPU, and finally got a BFP on my 7th transfer, I personally think it was a combination of Prednisone and Clexane that got me there.

Please make sure you have had ALL your blood tests, there are a few good threads on here that list them all, also see this site http://infertilitylabtest.com/ it lists all the tests under each area.

In saying all of the above, I do believe it is worth a try, and as long as your FS is looking at new options as you move forward, rather than the same old same old.
