    egg quality

    Hello everyone,
Just a quick query which hasn't responded to googling - does anyone know why you would have poor egg quality (not ovarian reserve, not abnorma eggsl, just fragile) at age 33? Is there a reason? Past illness? Since you're born with your eggs ... can some harm come to them in some way?
    Any knowledge appreciated.
    Best wishes to all,
    WW

    Hi worrywart

My FS tells me that eggs are selected by the body 8 months prior to the cycle they are produced in for ovulation/fertilisation. Therefore, if you have been ill say with the flu 8 months before then your eggs are likely to be poor quality and your FSH will be high to try improve them. I also believe that stress can play a role in egg quality and it makes sense when you consider that when we are stressed our bodies produce hormones to deal with that due to the 'flight or fight' response. When this happens it puts a lot of strain on our adrenal gland which is responsible for producing the good hormones we need for making babies through oestrogen and progesterone production.

I find the AP helps me a lot with stress, I just wish I could do it more often. I take my ipod in with me and listen to meditation music while having AP and I come away feeling much more relaxed. I find yoga helps as well but finding a yoga class that focuses on relaxation has been impossible since we moved even though there are lots of yoga studios about.

Have you considered any dietary influences? There is some thought that a low-GI diet can help with the egg quality and conception in general. I understand where you are at. I hope you manage to find some answers. Good luck with TTC.
