How Much Does IVF Cost (In Vic)

I want to prepare myself if we can't conceive naturally - we've only seriously been trying for about three months so it's early stages but at my age I'm probably only going to keep trying for another few months before I get checked out etc.

So ... if we need to go down the IVF route, how much does it cost? We have private health insurance, not sure if that makes a difference.

One of the other girls should be able to provide you with a link to a thread with IVF costs. If you look under long term trying to concieve you will find it. I don't know how to link it to this reply. Someone did it for me when I was asking the exact same question.

    Hi Fiona,
The cost of IVF will vary depending on the type of treatment that you require, so it is hard to give you an answer that is meaningful to you. Check out http://forums.bellybelly.com.au/foru...ed-ivf-10.html to get an idea. Private health insurance, depending on your policy, will help to pay for cost associated with egg retrival during a stim cycle when you are a day patient in hospital (generally), and some policies can help with the cost of some medications not always included in a cycle fee - but again it will depend on the clinic and the health fund. Also confusing matters is the medicare safety net. It is also important to know that if you are $1500 out of pocket (I think) during a financial year for medical expenses (inc scripts, optical, dental etc) you can do something through the tax system...I'm not sure of the details but if you look at the ATO web site under 'net medial expenses tax offset' it will provide you with more info.

The IVF clinic that I am with have an accounts dept who are very helpful. I'm sure that other clinics would have a similar situation, so it might be worth give the clinics that are convenient to you a call to see if they can send out any pricing info to you.

Good luck and hope that you dont need to go down the IVF pathway.

The costs structure are also about to change - and most will end up being higher.

Also check out the websites of a couple of places that you are contemplating visiting. And then add a few hundred for drugs.

Wishing you a very speedy BFP and hoping that you don't need to go down this path.
