IVF with PGD #3

Thank you everyone for the wishes - you all are so kind and so supportive. and, yes - we are doing ICSI. Didn't need it the first time, but have since, so my FS has already "ordered" it.

I use a mug for the wheatgrass (just a silly habit) - 2 teaspoon full and filled half up with water - it tastes fine.

Busy day at work here - and I won't be in tomorrow because of the retrieval, so better get back to it - will check in tonight from home.

Buliej - good luck tomorrow, fingers crossed to healthy eggs.

AFM: One result has come back, my full chromosone test is all good normal xx's.
The geneticist is expecting Brendans results to be to her within a couple of weeks. Luck I'm a patient person.......

Lisa - good to hear from you, hun. Great to know your chromosones have been given the "all clear". I still do not understand why these tests were not available to you here in Australia. It is ridiculous how tedious this tyranny of distance has been for you. Unlike you, I am very impatient and cannot believe how long this has dragged on for you. I look forward to hearing your future results and hope it will answer the questions you are longing to understand.

Sara, currently I am doing 1 and half teaspoon with 3/4 of a glass of water...but I will be increasing it to 2teaspoon soon. They say you have to start gradually otherwise you get naucious from wheatgrass, so far I am feeling fine and I feel really healthy of drinking those green water...

Julie, best of luck for tomorrow, I hope those two eggs are with the best quality.

I'm quite anxious this time. Not so much about the retrieval tomorrow but Friday. For the last 2 cycles, I've gotten the call on the day after retrieval to say none made it overnight. I held it together the most recent time, but the time before I lost it and had to run into the bathroom at work and I think I will be the same this time.

Lisa K - glad your results are good - it is amazing how long they take

Hi Everyone - back from my egg pick up - and long nap - I was the first patient this morning - had to be there at 7am. Anyway, we got 2 eggs! very exciting as this is the best possible outcome on clomid. Of course, they know nothing about the quality - but at least there's a chance. I told my FS that I didn't want to hear from her tomorrow! My embryo transfer will be on Saturday if all goes well - just have to coordinate acupuncture once I know the time.

AFM - it's 11:55am - and no call YET from the dr canceling the transfer - fingers crossed that at least 1 made it. I'm so anxious to know if both made it - I called my FS' rooms - but she's away and a dr is covering. I wish she had told me this -not that it would matter, but I think it would have been nice to be informed. Apparently this is common for weekend procedures, but as I've never had one on the weekend, I didn't know. Also, and I know this is laughable, I've never been to a male doctor other than a GP - and even then, that was only out of desperation, I'm really much more comfortable with female drs - now I will have a male for this most delicate of procedures. I know, silly...

Buliej - WAY TO GO :dance: One more sleep until potential transfer. My :crossfingers: for you ;)

Bullie: Good luck for tommorow, a g/f and I had the same chat yesterday about male docs, she does brazillians, and said "she doesnt even look" .. A fresh transfer FS is like seeing a new FS, I hope he is the one for you

AFM: Scan went well, 13 follies ranging from 12-15 .. so all being well, EPU next Wed. We have decided to go for Prog Support in the LP, which is $94.00 for 5 days :o
So when I get my bfp (positive thinking) I will have to stay on it I guess .......... ?? Oh why cant all this stuff be for free, we should get a TTC Pre Baby Bonus ...

WLAB - sounds like great results! very happy for you. I keep telling myself that I must be helping the economy with all we are spending on this fertility stuff!

I am feeling a bit crampy today and headache, so I guess AF is not far away. I need to do b.t on Day 1 and start FSH on Day 2, so getting there slooowly....

DH has finally finished his VERY LAST exam yesterday, so that is a big woo hoo!!!! I am hoping now some of his brain cells will contribute to the sperm-making, may they be strong and smart for this cycle....:lol:

Everyone gets Progesterone Support after a ET in a stim cycle. I have used the crinone before for my last two cycles, this cycle we have decided to use a stronger progesterone support with the prog suppositries, which I believe they give you after mult m/c and mult cycle's ??? We are trying to up the anty with my LP support, as I always get af before BT, so my LP needs extra support

Hi everyone - back from my ET and another round of acupuncture. We had 1 good embryo - they said it was excellent - so fingers crossed - the other one didn't even fertilize even with ICSI. Of course, I thought the embryo fell out right after the put it in because when I stood up I felt a bit of liquid. I think they think I'm nuts (I probably am - but it's this TTC that has made me a member of the loony bin).

I will probably try to stay away from posting much on bellybelly during the 2 week wait as I find it makes it harder for me...but I'll be lurking and following everyone's progress.

WLAB - good luck next week (I too have wondered why we seem to have so many fewer tests during the cycle than girls at other clinics).

wth - you are absolutely right this distance thing sucks. There are only 2 labs in the world that are equiped to test for X Linked Hyrdocephalus one in France which we are using and the other one is just outside Washington DC. Royal Brisbane Hospital genetics department use the lab in France as they have found them to be quicker????? I would hate to imagine how long the one in the USA takes.

I'm a newbie, dipping my toe in this thread for the first time.

I had an appt with the FS yesterday, and was told that I would need IVF with PGD as I am a carrier of an inherited disease. Once I heard this, my mind starting racing at a million miles a minute, and I couldn't really concentrate on the rest of what was said. As you can imagine, I am very anxious and nervous and want to find out as much info as possible before my next appt.

Could somebody please tell me what the associated costs with this are. I would really like to know what the upfront cost of a full stimulated cycle is, and what the additional cost is of PGD.

Welcome to this thread.

The best place to ask about the costs is your clinic (I am with SIVF), they are different depending on where you go. For me I had to first get done a DNA Mark-up for myself and my partner (it took three months to do that), the costs where $1500 without any Medicare rebate, then there are extra costs for each cycle, I am not sure how much these are.

Manhattan - welcome, you will find an enormous amount of help and support here, the ladies are wonderful. The prices do vary from clinic to clinic so you are best to talk to them. What condition are you trying to avoid, if you don't mind me asking?
