AFM, had FS appt this morning, BT, and first shot. Minor change in plan, I'm on 100IU of Puregon instead of Gonal-F this cycle, simply because the Puregon pen is easier to dial to 100. Just when you start thinking that this is all so complicated... Next appt is next Friday, and it looks like if everything runs smoothly my EPU is going to be on Wednesday 01Apr09, which is coincidentally my dad's birthday and the day my mum arrives for a four day visit. DH leaves tomorrow for his two month trip away, but we've had good news with his frozen samples. The fresh sample was 100 M/ml with 80% motility (up from 70 M/ml and 70% motility last cycle), we got eight vials/samples frozen out of the fresh sample, and the sample they froze and thawed maintained virtually all motility. FS still wants to do ICSI just to be on the safe side. I was trying to think this morning just how much more advanced IVF can get than the cycle we're doing without going to TESA or MESA; we're doing fully stimulated IVF, with frozen sperm, ICSI, and PGD (God willing). For goodness sake! Natural process my ass!
Kel81 - Sounds like you are all set with a good, well thought out plan. My FS is also now using ICSI to be on the safe side - I can't imagine what it would be like to be able to have a baby the normal way - or even what it's like to wake up one day and realize out of the blue that AF is a week late. Oh well, got to focus on the end result and not the means.

my BT is the 27th - but the last BFN cycle, AF arrived prior to test date -- and last BFP cycle, POAS tested positive fairly early - so we shall see - trying not to POAS until at least Monday

AFM Nothing to report, impatiently waiting for AF which I'll hope will arrive soon as it was due on Sunday, very nervous about FSH BT.Strange thing is I haven't yet had any cramps, since being off the pill I had really bad cramps a few days before AF, so either it's way out or it's different this time. I was mentioning it to my acupuncturist yesterday and she seemed to think it's a good sign....who knows.

Sara - I stopped getting AF cramps about 2 months into accupuncture (mine were never that bad - just the first day, and pretty mild). My acupuncturist also said that's a good sign - that you shouldn't really get cramps to begin with.
Morning everyone, sorry feel really bummed and not in the most positive space, so gonna keep this short...but I am so excited for Julie, I hope the lines are getting darker and darker...
I had my second b/t and u/s today and seems to have 7-8 follicles altogether, which for me is not stunning just fairly normal. I am a bit worried about the sizes varies so much and I won't be ended up as much as I wish, like the biggest one is 20mm and smaller ones are 10mm.
Anyway, just things you wonder along the way really to make it not much fun... Maybe its my expectation of this being a short cycle, but I really feel that I've been on this forever and my estimate is still have another 3 days to go, ahhhhh.....

Sara, hope AF will show up soon and praying for a good FSH level to start. I also think less cramp is a good sign and that your body is more in-tune now. Good luck hun!
CP - That number of follies sounds decent. I know you want a good number for PGD, but remember, it only takes 1 good one. It can get annoying when people say that to you, but it is true - this is coming from someone who barely gets 1 good egg out of a cycle - this is the one thought that gives me hope. Please keep us posted - I really hope that this is the last cycle you need for a BFP.

Hope things are going to look up. As Julie says what really counts is only that you end up with one nice and sticky blastie. And I know that is much easier to say than to experience. Hope the BT shows that E2 numbers have gone up.

Cuddlepie - just wanna add my two cents worth. I had researched (somewhere) that the shorter Orgalutron cycles can sometimes produce less eggs, but it is believed the quality is improved = better outcome. That's why it is good for us 'mature' ladies as we have more of an issue with egg quality. BTW - I had a massive size range in my follies in my last cycle, yet a few of the smaller laggers seemed to catch up. :crossfingers: for you and :goodluck:
Clinic just called, E2 is now up to 21xx which is good. I also checked LH level its around 1.7, they say don't need Pregnyl unless its under 1. Next b/t and u/s is on Thursday. Nurse said that just have to let the two big follicles grow out (20mm and 17mm) and wait for the smaller ones to catch up. So far seems I will only have 6 follicles if I am lucky. I think EPU will be on Sunday at the earliest.

I am really afraid of the call I am getting this arvo. AF turned up yesterday arvo and went for FSH BT this morning.
Since I can't concentrate on work did a calculation on how much I had spent on extras treatments such as IVF drugs and Acupuncture, it's over $2200 so far and that's without most of the supplements, it's amazing how this all adds up! Got a little back from my healthfund but still more than $1600 out-of-pocket. Have just changed over to a better extras policy, should have done that much earlier.

My result is 15.7, it seems to get worse each month - I really don't know anymore what to do :wall:
Sara - I'm so sorry. I know you are taking lots of different things (vitamins, wheat grass, etc.) are you also doing acupuncture.
Also, here's a tale about one of my friends back in NY - she too had FSH of around 20. They monitored it each month - it fluctuated. If it was below 12, they'd do a cycle. She is now a mother of a 1 year old.
It's rough at this age to have to sit a cycle out - believe me, I know - but keep taking care of yourself, doing research on alternative treatments, and getting the FSH measured monthly. In the meantime, give it a spin au natural this month - you never know (I am assuming your FS won't do a cycle with that reading - or will they)

Oh Sara, sorry to hear the result. :hug: I know how much you want to start this month...don't think all the things you've been doing is in vain though, sometimes it can take a while till our body respond, I am sure they are doing the good but we just not seeing it immediately. I think Julie said it, it also fluturates month by month. Keep doing what you've been doing and monitor the level each month...
Did clinic say this month is definitely out?

Thank you very much for your support, I went home balling my eyes out in the car. The nurse said that my FS said if I really wanted to start I could, we'll just check at the first ultrasound and the cycle might get cancelled depending what happened.
I've talked it through with DP and we've decided to start. We both feel we can't dare to wait, in the last few months my FSH got worse each month, there is no guarantee it's going to be any better next month, so we just see what happens.
We can't try naturally as we need to do PGD to avoid the bad gene so IVF is our only option. I've asked my FS to call it and will talk it through with her as well.
Julie: I am thinking of you and hoping that your 4pm phone call gives you good news.

Looks like I won't know anything until 6pm. Oh well - nothing I can do about it.
Sara - I'd make the same decision - at least start (and I apologize for forgetting that you can't try naturally because you need to do PGD). It sounds like you have a flexible FS - I think that's great.
I am glad you that you've made the decision to start Sara.
I remeber when last time talked to my nurse, she said FS would like it to be below 15 and another nurse said below 10. So I think there is a range and your number is not super high to rule out a good response for sure. Remember FSH is just an indicator not definite. I learned from this TTC thing, nothing is really definite, sometime FS don't even know why some of the result.
So I think start and see what the u/s tells you. I hope all will work it out in the end.

Waking up this morning and just feeling really sad, feels like the dream to become a mum is slipping away from me. FS rang yesterday night, she thinks there may only be one follicle or possibly two or three but says lets get started and have a look. Feel like am setting myself up for failure but still think I'll do it as I haven't got another choice.
