Mylitta - Your story seriously gives me some hope! My daughter was also conceived naturally and we had no idea of this "problem" until the repeat miscarriages started happening.
Jaki80 - I keep reading the same things with the injections - all women react differently! I was on 225 and went up to 300 the last two days!!! Holy cow, right?! No side effects though, so no probs. Thinking of you come Monday and all the best for Wednesday!!!
After this first round of PGD, I talked with the geneticist and he thinks it's not my chromosome problem causing the miscarriages - just BAD LUCK! Not sure if that good or bad. good and bad maybe? geez.
Have a good weekend!

Hi ladies, just a quick update. Had EPU yesterday... 15 eggs collected. Of that 13 were injected with sperm and this morning we have 11 'normal embies'. So excited.
Now the next hurdle is them making it to day 5-6 hatching into blasties and the pgd testing.
The average is 50% make it to blasties... Our first cycle we had 0% and our seccond 30%. So this time I'm praying for 50%!! hehe
foxy what is happening with you???????

Hi Jaki and Mia's Mama,
Sorry I haven't been around! I am a terrible forum-poster, I know!
Basically my ovaries responded really poorly to this cycle, and I got freaked out - it didn't look as though I was even going to make it to EPU! I was on 600 units Puregon, so your 300 doesn't seem too bad Mia's Mama! My FSH must be sky-high, which sucks given I'm only 32, nearly 33... Had EPU yesterday, finally, and got 10 eggs, much better than it was looking early on but probably not enough for PGD. I'll hear from the scientists tomorrow; MIVF does PGD on Day 3 embryos so may be a transfer tomorrow or Saturday. I guess 'cause we don't have to do PGD, if there are only 2 embryos, I'll just be putting them back without PGD; 6 embryos (unlikely given my track record, but here's hoping) and we'll do PGD but 3-5 embryos, I'm not sure. I'll have to get their advice I guess. The cost is huge so weighing up cost vs. 1 cycle of fresh embryos and 1 cycle of frozen embryos is hard... What would you ladies do if you didn't have a genetic condition, just failed repeated cycles?
Good luck for your blastocysts and PGD Jaki! 11 embryos is great!!! I hope they find a "normal" one in there, the chances are really good!
Mia's mamma, have you had EPU yet? Good luck!!!

Foxy77 - 600! Wow, I am impressed :). I had 10, 7 were mature and 6 fertilized, they were all tested and all had chromosomal problems. It was a HORRIBLE first result for us. I am 33 and just so surprised about having so many "bad eggs". It's a tough call for you - whether to test or not - think of both possibilities and which would be easier on you. We're also at MIVF and I am very familiar with the $$!
Jaki80 - Good news! I hope they get some good ones for you! 50% would be wonderful.
I'm trying to decide (with help from hubby) whether to do PGD one more time...then, leave it on God. We'll just continue to try naturally until menopause! LOL.

I'm trying not to write to much cause I'm on my iPhone which is annoying in a full size site. Lol
foxy- I really don't know what I would do but I do remember my last cycle I was upsets as I thought I'd have no blasties again and I demanded a transfer with out the pgd. At the very last minute I had 3 embies hatch out. The strongest of my 9 embies which would have been transfered without the pgd was the only one affected with my bad gene. That scared the you know what out of me for future cycles.
But.... Our reasons for pgd are so different.
I hope you get your transfer soon! Make sure you keep us posted!
Mia's mama I don't know what to tell you either, it is alot of money to keep going on. We are lucky in a way because we are forced down this track anyway by my husbands infirtility. I believe in fate, I never wanted children with my desease, I've seen too much suffering in our family already.
Also I want to give a shout out to Ferrals4. I'm not sure if you are checking in on this thread but if you are... I notice your signature says you are underway with another Ivf cycle! Are you doing pgd again??

Just another update... Yesterday got the day 3 embryo update.... I'm totally amazed at the difference between this cycle and my previous 2. We have....
2 embies at the grouping stage so they with hatch early by the looks.
8 embies at 8 cells
1 embie at 7 cells
the embryologist said they are beautiful and she's not seen such good embryo's in a long time!
I'm so used to getting bad reports it's so strange!!!!!
Foxy- did you get a transfer????????????

Jaki, how fantastic are your embies going?! That's great! Are they doing the biopsy and testing today? Will you get the results today as well? I was really impressed that on day 3 we would get a call in the late morning to tell us how many embies were going to get tested, and then a few hours later we would get another call with the results. But I guess it all depends on what is being tested for. Ours was pretty simple and just involved them staining and counting how many of each chromosome were present, so probably a lot quicker than a lot of testing that gets done.
Anyway, all the best over the next few days! I hope these are all healthy little embies and continue to grow well so that you can have a transfer and even have a few little frosty bub's!
EDIT: Oh, I was just going to add that some of my embies that got tested at day 3 were only 5 cells, so it just goes to show how well yours are doing!

Hi, Sydney Ivf will only biopsy blasties so that is day 5 or 6 embies if they hatch out. They believe it is better for the potential baby to take the biopsy from what will become the placenta rather than from the actual genetic material of the baby.
Our test is rather fast too, just a couple of hours and in I go. So hopefully I will get the call tomoz!

Well bad news.
Had 4 embryos yesterday morning, they did PGD and all 4 were chromosomally abnormal. In a way, I'm relieved I don't have to wait out a pointless 2ww or endure another biochemical pregnancy, plus now I know why it hasn't been working so far... but it still sucks. I think we'll try one more IVF/PGD and then probably look at changing sperm donors and/or my female partner will donate me her embryos. So much to think about! And to make matters worse, it's my birthday tomorrow. But my current feeling is more relief than sadness. Have any of you felt this way too?
Jaki - how did you go? Hope you got some good ones!! Wishing you very best of luck for an excellent transfer!
Mia's mama - any more thoughts on another PGD cycle?
-
Foxy I am so sorry. ((((((hug))))) It really sux!!!!!!!
I think using your partners embryos would be so beautiful, that really is coming together and making a child that is really both of yours, in spirit rather than DNA. Her gentic make up with your blood pulsing through it. Totally wonderful in my opinion. And I'm 100% sure you would never feel less of a mother to this child you would carry.
If it were me I'd never hesitate using donor eggs and have actually thought about it as a last resort if needed.
As for the relief feeling I've never had that... But I've also not had 11 transfers like you so I can understand.

Foxy77 - Sorry to hear the news. After being sad and ****ed off, I got the same relief feeling. My 6 PGD tested abnormal embryos, were also six prevented miscarriages. We are thinking to do one more PGD/IVF cycle and that would be it. Maybe we'll get a dog...our daughter has been asking for a sibling, dog or cat! I'm happy she's left us with options! haha.
I agree with Jaki80 about using your partners eggs/embryos. It would be a beautiful thing to do.
Jaki80 - Hoping this is your day for some good news!
-
Update.....
Had 3 embies tested today, all clear of the bad gene.... Which is crazy incredible!!!!!
Strongest embie transfered, a boy. 2 girls frozen.
There are 5 early blasties that could catch up for testing tomoz!
I'd stopped hoping good things could happen so I am toally amazed by this cycle.
Foxy I hope you managed to have a good birthday.

Jaki80- CONGRATS! How surprising and wonderful...and to have 2 frozen + 5 more to test...LOTS of babydust your way...it's your time :)
-
Ok ladies... Last annoying update until pg bt.
Had 4 more blasties tested this morning. And again all 4 were free of my bad gene! Not even any carriers! It's crazy insanely unheard of! I'm actually worried the checked wrong, lol.
One bad strike of luck tho was one of the blasties had latched on to the glass dish and the scientist moving them to the freezer could not get it off safely so we lost it.
But all up we now have 6 in the freezer so I shall not complain :)
-
Wow Jaki!!!!
That's absolutely fantastic and what great news!!!!!
How long until your blood test? GL!!!!!
I've decided to do another PGD cycle after discussion with my FS and so starting on the pill soon. Kind of exciting to be trying again so soon and he doesn't see there's any reason I shouldn't get pregnant eventually!!!
So hope is back...
Let us know how you go Jaki!
-
Jaki80 - Are you driving yourself crazy in the 2ww?!! Hope you are feeling good....
Foxy77 - Nice to hear you back into it again! I really hope the best for you this cycle!
We are thinking to go again (whenever I get my period...maybe in the next week?). Dr. wanted me to take one month off to let my ovaries recover from the stimulation. Part of me wants to try naturally, but I am so freakin' scared of miscarrying again. Sis-in-law had new baby last Friday and gosh, those feelings of wishing, wanting, needing and a bit of jealousy all bubbled up!
