IVF with PGD #7

Hi ladies,

How is everyone?

Lu how are you feeling?

I spoke with one of the scientists yesterday and they think the test is still a month away - which is still on track for the 8-12 week original estimate. The scientist may also hit the nail on the head sooner than that and we can get going. Either way I am expecting my next AF in about 4-5 weeks so it should be good timing. FS is going away for 2 weeks, but should be back for the EPU, so I guess another FS would just be monitoring my progress from the scans etc?? Easter is in there too so it will be good to have some time off while I'm jabbing.

Pray for me ladies that we are not far off!!

BF - Sorry to ask but will this be your first cycle? Are you in the process of getting genetics to make up your tests?
Lu - I hope everythings going well & your MS is not too bad.

AFM - I'm doing well, it's been a rough week but hubby has been very good & we are organizing finances for round two. We have a follow up 5th March so hopefully FS will have some ways we can improve our chances? Not sure really just trying to be positive :pray:

BF - yup gotta keep at it! Been an awful week one of my mums dogs died in a freak accident, so it's been very somber all round.

Sounds like very exciting/stressful times for you DH, it is such a long road isn't it!? Without wishing our lives away u almost just want to fast forward to the part where your dream is a reality.

I'm sorry JBear about your mum's dog, that's so sad.

Yep, it's a long and winding road alright!!! It's hard to believe it's ever going to happen... which is bad because it means I am not looking after myself as well as I should be, thinking it will still be months off and I still have time.... :rolleyes:

try and stay positive ladies ,,,, i know it sounds hard ..... after 3 failed attemps i was sure that it would never happen again!
anyway im well counting down the sleeps till the 7 week viability scan its killing me!!!! just want to see all is ok!

Thanks Lu I know it will happen for us one day, i'm trying to focus on my health to be as ready for the next cycle as we can be but babies are always on my mind...LOL. Hey it's not long now til your scan, next week isn't it? I hope your keeping well.

BF thank you, it's been a crazy few weeks. Make sure you look after yourself, i know it probably seems like it's taking forever and it is still so far away. For me it went quick because I had the distraction of our wedding & honeymoon but the process does just feel like it drags on for-ev-er! I hope it goes a bit quicker for you...Make sure you take extra good care of yourself xx

I'm well cant complain.....

I did come across some interesting information when i was at my accountants..... i was totally unaware of it and i guess other are too.....

My accountant asked if I had medical expenses over $2000 (we are usually quite private about the ivf so we asked why)
We were told that you can claim 20% of medical expenses including ivf and meds etc over $2000...... so all you do is get a tax statement from medicare for the financial year that you need and a tax statement form the health care fund that you are in and provide them to the accountant! (does take a while for them to send them out but worth it)
Every dollar counts seeing they have cut the rebate for ivf with medicare so much
I wish i would have known earlier!

T9 - 20% tax offset on net medical expenses over the threshold amount

I remember sending an email to someone that had a list of all the stuff I did pre Ivf. Let me know if your interested and I will dig it out and copy it over.

I also never thought I would never get my happy ending. PGD makes it so much harder and can take many more try's but you WILL get there!

That's awesome info! I'll def be going to the accountant after the cycle, should be good timing too, if we cycle just before the end of fin year. Is the medical expenses per financial year or calendar year? Can you claim absolutely everything or just prescription stuff?

hey perscription stuff hun and the excess left by medicare and the health fund....worth chatting with the accountant..... for us this year might mean 1000 back :) to put bakc on the credit card! then next time we did 2 cycles so thats more back!

Hey lovlies!

I'm good had our follow up appt with FS yesterday, confirming we will go for cycle #2 this month! No changes to the last one but hopefully this is the one, it's starting to get relly expensive. Having said that we hit the medicare safety net so we got 80% back from that last appt! I'm also feeling very moody so hoping AF come next week for me too BF...hope we fall around the same time.

Lu - how've you been feeling? You must be super excited for your appt :leap: let us know how it all goes.

I've been following this thread for a while, but haven't been actively involved. I've done 3 tim cycles so far, two stim ones and the last one was with PGD for implantation reasons. We haven't had a BFP yet and have started yet another cycle, also with PGD. My OPU is scheduled for 14 April. I feel like I need the support from you guys as it's getting a bit overwhelming this whole experience. Let me know if you are keen for me to get involved.

IVF #1 BFN
IVF #2 BFN, FET #1 BFN, FET #2 BFN

This thread gets quiet and then picks up depending on what people are experiencing at the time - there's no constraint on who can be involved. There are people here using PGD to avoid a specific problem gene, as well as people who are trying to deal with either recurrent miscarriage or implantation.

Hello just jumping in here. We are doing out first round of ivf and I am just starting on the pill. FS wants us to go with testing if we get a good number of day 5 blasties as in more than 2 as we have had a couple of m/c. If we only get 1 or 2 day 5 we will proceed without testing this round... It makes sense when he explains it! So hope you don't mind me being here even though we are not 100% on whether we are going this path or not.

I am hoping to be back this week with a decent update on our test workup. I need to go and get my referral rewritten this week as it is about to expire. If we had managed to start treatment by now I wouldn't have to but alas, nothing seems to be easy on this particular journey! heheh!

Just a question did anyone here find it difficult to book their nurses appointment and counselling appointment because they are potentially doing testing?? I calked Monday and they said they would call me back... I called today 2 days later and still nothing... I am getting pee'd off because I just want to start and hope I am not wasting my time taking the pill this month for nothing.

Sorry you're having a rough time :(

Do you mean you're calling while the nurses are all occupied doing blood tests? I haven't had that problem, we have a "patient relationship coordinator" who organises everything for us - depends who you're with & the structure of the clinic I guess. :( I hope you get that call back soon!

In terms of being scared - glad you're there with me! For me, it felt like it was never going to happen so I kept pushing it to the back of my mind. Now it's here and I am worried about everything from money to what I eat to the vitamins I'm taking to the exercise I am doing - whether I should be doing more meditation, self massage blah blah blah.... I've given myself an extra cycle and I just need to do the best I can....

Hi all u other ladies!!

Nope she hasn't had to time to check the availability of the counsellor.... It's been 2 days and I am already registered there. I have been calling in the afternoon to avoid peak BT time, she was flustered and told me she has too many appointments to try and book in... Take a number type situation. She is nice don't get me wrong but I am not sure I should have to wait this long just to book a time? I know we have to wait for an appointment but I can't even get past step 1 to book an appointment...
Thanks for reading my vent :) I am more scary than ivf this afternoon!!
