great news, sunbeam... sounds very promising so far! you must be pleased. : )
minnie - epu is 8th nov at this stage (or could be 10th... can't quite remember).
as expected, af arrived today bc I posted the question yesterday...! im actually relieved bc wasn't sure if I'd get it after spotting the whole time. one small win. ; )
well done sunbeam, thats a great number!!
Good luck everyone else xxxxx
sorry forgot to drop the sig now i can't edit it off
Just popping in to wish you the best of luck Sunbeam!!! Go girl and go embies :cheer::bluecheer: xoxoxox
Great result Sunbeam! What a funny dream you had as well, your poor brain is working overtime.
Minnie, we won't do CV it's for higher risk and because we've already done PGD we are not in that category.
Andie & Minnie - Yay for cycle buddies!
AFM - Trying to study but had to pop in to see how Sunbeam went! Hi to everyone else x
Great news Sunbeam. I am a quiet stalker x
feeling ok today, sunbeam? guess they don't give you updates on sunday?!
Hi Girls
Thank you so much for all the good wishes and positive vibes to my embies. All 8 embies got shipped up to Brisbane PGD clinic today and all 8 were still going strong. I should get a call around 11am tomorrow to say how many are good for biopsy. Please grow little embies.
Just in case it happens to anyone else. I woke up this morning and my right eye was all out of focus (with my glasses on it was like my right eye was not seeing any better than without them). I rushed to the optometrist and he checked it out and it's fine, just a side effect of all the hormone changes and fluid changes. It's nearly back to normal tonight. Other than that not feeling too bad just a little crampy when I put the pesseries in.
Hi ladies!
Sorry about the absence - have just moved house (we moved Sunday, the day after EPU - oh what fun that was!) and things have been pretty hectic around here (as well as only just getting internet happening again). So, update on my embies - 7 eggs were collected, 5 mature and able to be injected, 3 fertilised, all 3 behaved themselves very well and were dividing nicely and are now frozen for my next cycle. I honestly didn't know how to feel about it all. The cycle felt up and down and all over the place. I wasn't expecting 7 eggs to be collected so I was pleasantly surprised but then pretty deflated again when I heard that only 3 had fertilised. One thing that made me feel better was that we had called off PGD due to low follicle numbers and that was clearly a good decision as 3 embryos just wouldn't feel like a great PGD number, if that makes any sense (that darn nurse's voice still in my head - 'you guys just keep losing numbers, don't you?'...ugh). So, the next thing for me is that I am obviously hanging out to do my next cycle and actually have an opportunity for a transfer. It has been an odd/kinda sad feeling just letting this cycle go and not even having a chance of transfer (although still very grateful for 3 embies waiting). I have spoken to one of the clinic nurses and will find out this week if there is any chance my FS will consider doing back-to-back cycles. *Fingers crossed* Anyone have any experience with that?
Sunbeam - Yay! Yay! Yay! I was so happy to read about your EPU and your updates - I hope those little embies are behaving themselves and growing nicely for biopsy (and healthy, happy transfer!!). I will be checking in tomorrow for updates - can't wait to hear the good news! *Everything crossed for you*
J.Bear - Wonderful news! What an amazing sight that must have been! Relax and look after yourself and that precious little baby!
Andie, Minnie - How great that it looks like you will be cycle buddies - good luck to you both! Can't wait to hear all of your cycle updates.:D
b*f - Zennnnnnnn... ;) Best of luck for this week, sweetie!
Hi girls
Well I feel like c@#p. The clinic called and although 7 of the 8 are still growing only 3 were ready for biopsy. I feel the same as elle 3 is just not enough for PGD so they are being frozen today and will be added to my fresh ones from my next cycle. I feel horrible about going straight into another stim cycle as the ohss has kicked in and I had to sleep part of the night propped up as the pressure from my bloated tummy was too much. I did back to back stims last time and the ohss was far worse the second time. It feels really sad having nothing to transfer this go just like elle said.
Elle and Sunbeam sorry to hear that ur not able to do a fresh trf this time. That really sucks, PGD really does lower the numbers. From our last cycle we only ended up with one that was balanced and suitable for trf. But all you need is one good one. One of those embies is very likely the one so try not to get to down.
Sunbeam I hope you feel better soon & that u get some relief soon and you don't have a repeat of what happened last time. Sending you both lots of love!
Hi all you lovely ladies,
Sunbeam, sorry to hear you've overstimmed. Be very gentle with yourself, lots of rest and water. Do you start stimming again as soon as you get AF?? That's hardcore girl, I couldn't do it!
JBear, how are you going? You "sound" good!
Elle, moving and IVF, what a mix. Hope you're feeling ok!!
Sorry I am losing track of all the new ladies but know I wish you the very best!
AFM, I'm doing great. I hired a doppler and have been able to listen to my lil baby's heartbeat! I will be back on Thurs to let you all know how my scan goes!!
b*f
Holy guacamole, what a very emotionally up an down day!!!!!!
Okay long version. I felt quite shattered with not being able to do a transfer this cycle. :shakehead: After this mornings call and our decision to freeze the 3 I then spoke to the nurse and said I want to do another stim straight away to add to the 3, she said she thought it would be unlikely that FS would agree to this. :wall: I said I really want to as it will save a heap of money and I really really did not want to have to wait till next year. I later got a call back to say that FS is fine with me doing another stim and we can just fit it in before they close for Christmas, the nurse will call with my dates tomorrow . Another call from the clinic to say number 4 made it to freeze too
I keep thinking if I'd known we had 4 would I have gone ahead with the PGD? I'm so glad I did not have to make that decision and now get the chance to add to the 4! I really don't know if I'm coming or going with my emotions and to add to it its a full moon, I feel like I've had the craziest day :hide:
I get 4 weeks before starting FSH again as I have to get AF then go on the pill for 2 weeks!
B*F - I'm so glad your little bub is ticking along well, can't wait to hear about Thurs scan.
Hey BF so good to hear your doing great, having a Doppler would be a huge reassurance. What a good idea! AFM I'm ok I think! Lol still having days with no symptoms which creates negative thoughts but trying to talk myself outta them & focus on the positives which is working.
Wow Sunbeam you've had an eventful day! That's really good news about having 4 to freeze & that your FS agreed to back to back. Are you feeling better?
sunbeam - how you feeling today, after your whirlwind couple of days? sorry you didn't get to transfer this cycle, sounds common for pgd? (not that it makes it any easier to take, of course). think I should be preparing myself too for that to happen. good news about the 4 frozen though, and being able to do another stim straight away... I hope your feeling a bit less bloated & sore today. xx
elle - sorry you didn't get to transfer this cycle. I have done back to back stims, so it is possible, but I definitely needed a couple months off afterwards. hormones were given a bit of a thrash! not to mention my moods... ; )
afm - scan today showed I am down regulated, so I started puregon jabs this afternoon. still sniffing too, which I really don't like. had consult with another clinic yesterday too, so if I don't have luck this cycle, I think I might switch clinics as the other clinic offers some more aggressive treatments that I would like to try next.
hi to everyone else. : )
Hi Girls
Andie - Whoo let the jabbing begin  Feels so good to actually get started doesn't it.
Elle - Any news as to whether you will get another stim cycle in this year?
AFM - Okay I need advice. I will have the chance to do one more stim this year so I'll be going ahead with that but I won't know till tomorrow whether I will be able to do a fresh transfer from it or have to freeze and do the PGD and transfer next year due to my clinic closing down over Christmas.
Here is my question, should I just freeze anyway and have a nice chilled Christmas away with my parents and a relaxed holiday and a few stress free drinks on New Years etc and come back to it all refreshed next year rather than push to do a fresh transfer and stress all Christmas and potentially have to deal with bad news over the holiday if I don't get a BFP or worse still don't get any good embies????
I know 7 IVF babies and they were all FET, is it just so much easier on your body?
P.S. Thanks to all who asked after me, I'm feeling much better, still a little bloated but no pain and slept through the night last night so I must be on the mend.
sunbeam - last year i had a FET before christmas, BT wasnt until 2 jan or something like that - so still doing progesterone & clexane in the tww over christmas. got af a couple of days before new years. the whole thing sucked. im not a big drinker, but it was annoying having to watch what i ate/drank over christmas period. the side effects of the meds didnt help me to relax either, as well as having to remember to take them etc. im always with family over that period too, so it was horrible to go through the highs/lows in front of everyone (or in a bedroom really!), and not have any privacy to deal with everything. even getting away to do the clexane injections i got 'where are you going? why is dh going with you?' (i guess, you wont get that bc you are brave and do all your injections yourself!). i have arranged this cycle so im not transferring over christmas, so that i can just relax and enjoy some time off. i could probably squeeze in another transfer before christmas if this one doesnt work, but i wont. i know if things had gone according to plan, this is what you would have been doing too... it sucks that you have to making these decisions.
there has been some articles floating around about FET having better success rates than fresh, for the reason you mentioned - thats its easier on the body. but again, i think its one of those things, if its going to work - its going to work, no matter if its fresh or frozen. i have had short lived success with both, but personally feel that my body likes frozen better. not based in any scientific evidence though...!
glad you're feeling better.
Hi ladies!!
Just a quickie.
In all honesty Sunbeam, if you have nearly overstimmed I would give your body a break. I am a believer in frozen over fresh as our strongest embie just couldn't stick around in a fresh but our next transfer worked. I had a few months rest in between, and the very best part of a frozen cycle was I was on pessaries, rather than crinone - crinone sent me to the edge!! Good luck!!
Thanks lovelies I'm about 95% decide to go with freezing and having a nice chilled out Christmas. Thanks for your advice.
Hey Lovelies
Thank you so much for all your advice. I have decided to freeze embies from this next cycle and enjoy a carefree Christmas and then do a FET in Jan I think given my tendency to OHSS it is also a good option.
B*F -I'll be waiting to hear how you go tomorrow.
Hi ladies!
Sorry I haven't been around for a few days - still have very limited (and annoying) internet in our new house.
It looks like there is a lot going on around here. I hope everyone is doing well.
Sunbeam - I'm so sorry that things didn't go so smoothly with your PGD cycle, as you know I can totally empathise. I'm not sure if it helps or not, but you're not alone. It is very disappointing and sad to let the cycle go. Personally (a bit of a silver lining), I do like that we have embies already waiting for our next cycle. To me it feels like it takes the pressure of a little, like we are already on the way. It sounds like you have made a good decision - you seem really comfortable and settled with the idea of a relaxed Christmas and a FET next year. Definitely gives you something wonderful to look forward to for 2013!!
Andie - Yay for jabbing! You are well on your way! Keep us updated.:)
b*f - How did your scan go? Can't wait to hear!
AFM - New cycle started yesterday (2 weeks to the day after trigger) and finally heard from nurse about orders from FS. She didn't want me to go straight into another cycle, so I will be having a few weeks rest. I will have a BT on the 22nd and if my levels are all baseline (hopefully they will be), she will be happy to start then. I am pretty happy with that - really happy to do be able to do another cycle before the Christmas break. If the timing works out similarly to last time, ER will probably be around the 7th(??ish) of December. In other random news, I managed to slice into my hand with a knife yesterday and wound up in surgery for the laceration (crazy day!). Apparently I needed a distraction between cycles, haha...
sunbeam - good decision I reckon! it will be a relaxing way to ease into new year & be in the right frame of mind for transfer in jan. xx
elle - glad you get to squeeze in another stim, hope they can tweak your cycle to get you a couple more eggs. hope your hand is ok, that sounds painful!
minnie - did you end up starting injections yesterday?
afm - still sniffing & jabbing, scan on monday to check progress. getting a bit moody now, wondering if it's the synarel? (or just me?!)
Sunbeam sounds like you made the right decision for you. Like Elle said u will have something exciting to look forward to in 2013!
Andie & Minnie, when will u start jabbing? I'm very excited for u both.
BF, how did your scan go?
Elle OUCH! That sounds super painful, hope ur lil hand is ok.
hi ladies, just a quick one - had scan today and looks like epu will be wednesday/thursday this week. think i've responded quite well this time round, so a bit tender and FS has decreased puregon dose to coast until then. havent had to decrease dose before mid-cycle, anyone else done this and still had ok eggs/embryos?... just having a little worry, nothing to big as there is not much i can do at this point anyway! xx
Hi girls, I'm away & on my phone so I'll be brief
Andie: that all sounds good, I have had my meds stopped 4 days before epu & I have had epu on day 13, that's good you have responded well
Elle: I hope you enjoy your few weeks break & can get back into another cycle before the end of the year
Jbear: I hope things are going well for you :)
Sunbeam: not long til the next cycle starts for you !
Bright future: I hope your scan went well, come in & update us :)
afm: I started injections on fri, I'm on 3 injections a night now & because I'm away I'm not having any monitoring for another week (my nurse nearly had a nervous breakdown about that !) so hopefully everything is going ok
Hi everyone,
minnie, hope everything is travelling nicely in there!
Andie - good luck in your EPU, hope you get heaps of great eggs!!! I didn't do the "coasting" thing but I have read about it a lot, I think it's pretty common.
Elle - how is your hand?? Ouch!! Did you need stitches?
Sunbeam, JBear, hope you're doing well!!
AFM, scan was great, it was the cutest thing ever. Bub is looking as good as possible at this stage and I am finally starting to relax and enjoy the pregnancy and get excited. We had a big family do on the weekend so it was really nice to be "out" with the news by then. Thanks for your good wishes!!
thanks minnie & bf, im confident in my FS and their instructions... just cant help worrying a little along the way.
bf - great news about the scan, how exciting!
minnie - 3 a night... bugger. im trying to dodge bruises with just one a day atm, cant imagine finding the room for 3 a day. hope you enjoy your time away.
hi everyone else. :)
Just sneaking in to say I've coasted Andie and it was all good :)
Good luck everyone!
thanks, n2l! :)
Hey ladies, hope your all well.
Minnie, i hope the jabbing is going well and your getting to enjoy your time away! You must be running outta places to jab.
Andie, how are you feeling? So good to hear your reacting so well to the drugs. Is EPU on schedule then?
Elle, how's your finger? Hope everythings on track for your next cycle.
BF, so glad the scan went well & your staring to relax a bit and enjoy. Have you still got the doppler?
Sunbeam, how are you going? Have you got much planned for your break?
AFM - Nothing much going on aside from a very busy month coming up! Feeling exhausted from studying and running around all weekend. I'm booked in for amnio on the 18th of next month so won't be having another scan until then, don't know how im going to stay sane!!
Hi ladies
Andie - How are you going? Did EPU happen today or is it on for tomorrow? Hope everything is going smoothly for you! Looking forward to hearing how you are.
Minnie - Ooh... I wonder what's going on in there! You must be looking forward to finding out - keep us posted!
b*f - Yay!! That is so great to hear! And double yay for relaxing and enjoying!
J.Bear - Glad to hear things are going well, albeit hectic. Can I ask why you are having the amnio done (I understand it's a personal decision)? Is there something specific you are looking for or are you just being thorough with screening?
Sunbeam - How are you? Hope you're traveling ok...
AFM - Thanks to those of you who asked after my hand - it has been pretty painful and pretty annoying (especially after just moving house when there is so much to be done around here). There are stitches there but I still don't know how many because it's all bandaged up. I have a follow up appt next week so I guess I will find out then. 2 weeks tomorrow until I find out if I am on track for another cycle this year - we shall see (fingers crossed!). I have been feeling pretty out of sorts over the past week. Just wondering if it is my hand & meds/new home/other life stuff or if it could be the hormonal come down after an IVF cycle (or a combination which is probably pretty likely)? Does anyone have any experience of teariness/discomfort in the week/s after a cycle? Is it normal and how long is it likely to take to settle down? Thanks, girls!
Hi Girls,
Andie - How did it go? How many eggies in your basket?
Elle - What a shocking time to hurt your hand with all the unpacking to do!! I hope it heals quickly. We might be cycle buddies soon. I'm sorry you are feeling rough sweetie , I am just now feeling right after me cycle I was very uncomfortable until AF arrived. I was teary for a week or so after but with all you have been through recently I think it would all feel a bit too much at times. Go easy on yourself and try to do some nice things to cheer yourself up.
B*F - I'm so glad to hear everything is going fantastic and you are starting to relax, I hope everything continues perfectly.
JBear - It must be so hard to wait between scans I think I'll be banging on FS door every week when its me!
Minnie - I hope you are having a lovely holiday despite all the jabbing.
AFM- AF arrived yesterday so I think I start the pill again tomorrow but just for 2 weeks! My EPU is Dec 14th so I'll be all done by Christmas apart from being bloated. PGD is booked for the 18th Jan hopefully with a transfer a few days later :D
hi ladies - hope you're all well, thanks for asking after me. epu was this morning, got 13 eggs but wont know how many of those are suitable for biopsy until sunday. hopefully we will get enough, but i am going to prepare myself for a freeze & batch anyway. considering we got 11 eggs collected last stim and only ended up with 2 blasts, we may not end up with very many that are of a quality to be biopsied. fingers crossed though i guess!
jbear - sounds like you need to rest & relax this weekend... ;)
sunbeam - what a quick turnaround (seems to me anyway..!), great you will be finished up a week or so before christmas. wouldnt worry about the bloat - all your friends & family will be bloated over christmas too i imagine. xx
elle - i dont blame you for feeling out of sorts with everything thats been going on lately. prob a combination of things for you, but to answer your question, yes - i do feel a bit over it after a stim, all those hormones trying to regulate themselves again. quite often i visit the naturopath to get some herbs to get things back on track. hope you're feeling a bit better today.
hi minnie,bf. :)
Whoo Andie that's a baker's dozen like I got. I hope you get a fantastic fertilization rate :fertilise: Go eggies go! You doing ICSI?
Lol yes everyone else will be bloated too, (except my brother who has now lost over 50kg!)
thanks, sunbeam. : )
yep, doing icsi. (btw 50kgs... that's impressive!)
Any news on how many embies you got Andie?
Yes my brother had lat band surgery 2 years ago and is 4lb from being the same weight he was at 14! He looks fantastic I'm very proud of him. My dad and him had the surgery together but dad has not done quite as well but still lost a fair bit.
Sneaking in the spread some baby dust to you all and roll andie, MM and sunbeam in some from head to toe! Hope you are all graduating from here soon xx sneaks out.
thanks, joeve. ;)
got call from FS, we have 7 embryos's that look suitable for biopsy at this stage - all 4 cells at day 2. these may not all continue to divide overnight and we could lose some more before they are biopsied tomorrow (my clinic biopsies on day 3). FS was happy with this number, but it just seems so depressing going from 13 to 7. realistically we will lose more overnight, so probably looking at around 3-4? does that sound reasonable? i have a day 2 embryo on ice from a previous stim, so they will thaw that out today and hopefully it will be able to be biopsied too. so maybe 4? if im lucky 5? this waiting bit sucks...
Andie - Best of luck!! I have everything crossed for you that those embies stay strong. Keep us posted (and have a nice Sunday - do something that makes you feel happy!).
Sunbeam - Hope you're feeling well. I think we may be cycle buddies again! Let's see how we go this round...
Minnie, J.Bear, b*f - hope you're all doing well!
AFM - Thanks, ladies. I don't feel quite as much of a basket-case after reading your replies. I think I will just take it easy (and trrrry and relax about all of the stresses).:)
