I had many meltdowns last week because my hcg levels weren't going up as much as I would like, I was convinced it was all over again, it was not a good week at all & my stress levels were extremely high however I had a scan today and all is looking good, it was measuring 6 weeks 5 days (which corresponds with the clinics due date - although I would think I should be 7 weeks cause epu was 5 weeks ago today ?) and had a of 146bpm :-) so that's a hurdle over, now it hopefully continues
***Sneaking it to say Congrats to Minnie for a great hb. And as for being 2 days out a mm is a day apparently, so its easy to be just off. 2 days is close enough. Good luck with everything.
Hi Minnie - so glad everything is looking great, that's a lovely strong heartbeat xx
Hi BabyMama - whaaat, that's awesome news congrats to you also!!! xx
AFM - I have just finished AF brought on by Provera after my collection, so I have my Day 21 nurses appointment on the 18th and then as soon as AF starts I'm good to go for cycle #2. Hoping I get another 3 at least to test so I can avoid a 3rd collection.
A bit quiet in here! Been on holidays since March 7th and just checking in to see what I have missed and there's been none!
The day before we went on holidys got the news that our PGD feasibility testing has all been completed and they are ready for us to start. Excited is an understatement!!! Now just waiting for AF to arrive so I can start the pill so we can get the timing right for the PGD. Not often you would hear me saying this but bring on AF!
Hi JoeSpratt - I too thought it was quiet in here! That's great news for you, I wish you a very successful cycle fx fx fx!
AFM - well I thought I was all ready to start for cycle #2 only my nurse had been giving me the wrong info. I'm not booked in for my 2nd collection until the week of the 19th April so I have another bloomin month to wait grrrr! I just had my 2nd AF since the first collection and this cycle I was on no drugs and AF arrived on CD19 which is even bloomin early for me gah so sucks. Has anyone else found wacky cycles after being on Provera and having collections? Thing is I can't go on the pill now because I have this MTHFR gene (blood clotting disorder) so I have to go back on the Provera to get my cycles in sync with the collection. 2 years of fertility treatment and I've just about had enough I think, I want my life back so here's hoping by some miracle I get a good egg and a sticky BFP soon or I'm done.
joespratt: good news your testing is done, have you started your cycle now ?
alison: how frustrating you have to wait another cycle, the waiting is so hard
andie: for you with your scare, hope things settle down from here, good to hear bubba is all good
elle: how are you going ? come and update us
babymama: how are things with you ? have you had a scan yet ?
hi to everyone else
afm: i had another scan yesterday, all is looking good, my symptoms decreased on the weekend and i was really worried things were over but bubba was in there measuring 9 weeks and 1 day, next scan is the NT, hopefully all goes well until then

Hi Minnie - so glad everything is going well gosh how scary for you, I imagine we'll all be feeling this way when we finally get our BFP's. Do you plan on finding out bub's sex later on? So excited for you xx
AFM - well turns out I don't have to go on Provera after all, because AF came when it did (albeit it super early) it lines up nicely with my next collection so that's good. Fingers crossed for some extra follies this next one. Has anyone on here done the testing on less than 6 eggs?
Yeah thanks Minnie that's why I guess my specialist is saying no point on less than 6, argh, I was hoping to only pay for the PGD the once hence why I did the batch testing, but i only have 3 from the first collection so I need to get another 3 next one to make it worthwhile. Hmmm......
Alison: my clinic quotes 60-70% will be abnormal so I guess it you look at it on numbers alone if you test 10 you *should* get 3 or 4 normal but I had 10 tested the 2nd time & only got 1 good but they said that was a bad result (no kidding !)
I did my PGD a long time ago (6 years - eep!) when freezing wasn't as reliable. 2 embryos made it to testing (out of 12 eggs), and both were free of my silly gene. Both were transferred, as my FS thought that gave them the best chance. And 1 turned into DS.
At that time testing any embryos you had was standard practice.
It depends a bit on why you are having the PGD - if there is a specific gene you are trying to avoid then it may make sense to test smaller numbers; if you are trying to find the viable embryos in a lot of not so healthy ones then you may need to get a bigger batch.
