minnie - great news about your scan, very pleased for you! xx
alison - i got 7 embryos to testing, 2 came back normal. i am 34 with no known genetic problems & unexplained infertility. i was told that my result was what they expect to see in a batch of that amount. i hope you get a nice batch for testing, 6 would be a great number. goodluck, ill be stalking.
hi everyone else, hope you are all doing well - cycling or waiting to cycle, waiting for scans etc.
Alison - With my first PGD cycle, I got 9 eggs collected, 8 fertilised, 6 made it to testing, results only conclusive on 2 which were deemed normal with one resulting in DD & the other
It was the first time my clinic had done PGD for this gene & were ecstatic with the result!
AF finally came so I am back on the pill to get everything aligned. The clinic called to say we are booked in for 13 May (& no it's not a Friday - had to check!).let the countdown begin!!!! (Just a little excited )
Thanks for the info girls, so I'm really stressing about not getting enough eggs this collection now, I'm a low responder and only got 3 last time so if I need at least 6 altogether I'm going to need another 3 this time but hopefully more argh! I am full of a cold atm so glad it's now and not in another 2 weeks.
Good luck Joe with your next collection, mine's happening in the week of the 19th of April so getting a little anxious now.
Hi ladies! It's been a while! I have had on and off dramas with this site over the past month - not sure what's going on there?!
I'm so happy to see that everyone is doing well!
Congrats, babymama!
Alison - Best of luck to you for this cycle! I ended up with 6 embryos for biopsy, 4 of which were in good condition post-biopsy. We got extremely lucky with PGD. The 2 embryos that didn't make it post-biopsy were the 1 that was affected and a carrier. 3 of the other 4 embryos came back unaffected/non-carrier (the other one was a carrier and was a hatching blast, the most advanced of all of them)! The embryologist told us they were great PGD results. We got lucky, but there you go, look at what can happen! I hope that helps you in some way xx
minnie - Awesome news!! Isn't it amazing to see that heart flicker when you're so worried that something could be going wrong?! I hope all is continuing to go well for you and that you are feeling ok.
Andie - How are you? What is happening for you at the moment? I hope you're doing really well xx
Does anyone know how Sunbeam is going? I haven't seen her post recently (unless I've missed something?!). Hope she's well.
Hello to everyone else!
AFM - Everything is going well. I have had 2 scans and have seen that gorgeous little heart beat! Most recent was last week at 9 weeks and the HR was 169bpm - we even saw some wriggling and it was so wonderful. I said to my husband, it's like it makes it feel just that much more real. Even after seeing the heart beating, I was in awe of seeing some movement, like our little one seemed more 'alive' or something. Next scan (first trimester screening) is in 2 weeks, at 12 weeks. Finger crossed!! Oh and I have been feeling ill, ill, ill... The computer screen has not been my friend, which is another reason I have been quiet. It's hard to get things done when you feel so blah all the time. Oh well, as long as it's for a good cause...
Hi Elle - congrats that's wonderful news I feel soooooo happy for you. Pooey to feeling blah, I had it 24/7 with my daughter but it's totally worth it to get a sticky one and it's a very good sign of a nice strong pregnancy. I'm saying girl for you, my daughter's hb at that point was 169bpm too and I felt rotten. Thank you also for your information, it has definitely pepped me up a bit, I've been feeling a bit worried since reading the stats for the others so it gives me hope that you just never know. xx
AFM - had my nurses appointment yesterday, picked up all my drugs so as soon as AF comes we're off and racing! I'm hoping it's still a good week away as I'm only CD13 today, I think I'm ovulating at the moment but have noticed some brown tinged when I go to the loo on the paper so hoping it's just ovulation, lower back aches too are pretty strong but I only finished AF a week ago so surely it's not coming even earlier - last month it arrived CD19, not sure what that's all about, it's early for even me! But I'm excited as they're trying me on a new injection this cycle called Menopur, anyone tried it? It's new to Australia apparently but it's meant to be more effective for people like me who are low responders to the Puregon, so fingers crossed it gets me more googies this time!!!!!!
Alison: how are things going with you ? You sound like you are reaching the end of what you can take, fingers crossed for you that you get at least 3 more eggs and get a good number to test
Elle: great to hear from you and that things are going fine, we must be due within a few days of each other i think. Are you going to join a pregnancy buddy group ? I'm still too scared too !!
Afm: I'm 12 weeks today, yay, my next scan is Wednesday and I hope after that I can stop the clexane
Wow Minnie 12 weeks already!! Bet it hasn't flown for you however. Congrats on reaching the milestone. What are you on Clexane for? I have to have it too if I get pregnant, I have an MTHFR gene (blood clotting disorder) which I never knew about until recently - I am super nervous though because back in June I had a sc bleed due to a massive clot and that's the only time I've ever been on Clexane in pregnancy so makes me wonder if that bloomin caused the clot which in turn I miscarried!!!!! I only wonder because the tissue was tested after my D&C (at 9 weeks) and everything came back normal - no chromosomal abnormalities. I'm just waiting for AF so I can start my injections, I don't think I O'd until CD17 in the end going off pain and EWCM so who knows when AF will come. Anxious to get moving though!!!
elle - so glad to hear everything is going well for you, your next scan must be soon? hope you're feeling a bit better lately & the nausea has settled down. i am going well, 24 weeks at the end of this week & seems to be going so quickly now. xx
minnie - 12 weeks, yay! hope your scan went well today & you got some good pic's.
alison - i hope af turns up soon and you can get started. the waiting around is the hardest part sometimes, especially when you are desperate to get going. xx
Hi Girls - well we had to postpone my collection I had a scan and bloods done and AF was looking like another week away and as I was due to go in next Friday they said there's just not enough time - typical, why did I have to ovulate a week later than usual this month argh!!! So I'm now on Provera to hold AF off - I am going to be soooooo cranky and bloated by this time next week and I will stop it this time next week and hope AF shows within a few days. So my collection is now booked in for the 6th May. How long between collection is transfer usually?
Sorry your cycle was cancelled I have never heard of a clinic booking a pickup ahead of time. Every clinic I've heard of arranges pickup to suit your ovulation date (ie. it's booked after all your scans, etc) Is this a possibility with your clinic? Why do they need to book so far in advance? Would you consider changing clinics? It just seems like a really arbitrary way to do it which is adding to your stress
sorry alison, how frustrating. with my pgd cycle i was put on the pill to try and get the timing right for collection. in the end things worked well but i responded quicker than they expected on the stimulation drugs & they moved my pgd forward a couple of days. not sure what sort of testing you are doing, but i had my egg collection, then biopsy done on day 3, testing on day 4 (i think), transfer on day 5. i hope the provera does its job & things go well for you new collection date. xx
n2l - im with mivf and they do book in pgd cycles in advance (never had a regular stim cycle collection pre-booked, at mivf or the other cilnic i went to). something about having a certain amount of spots available for testing/lab work etc. although there must be a bit of flexibility as my collection ended up being a couple of days early. i remember being in my fs's room & listening to her firmly inform the lab staff on the phone that i would be having it done early bc my health (ie didnt want to coast me bc i had responded 'too well') is paramount, not the lab schedule. the lab/nurses didnt want to change my booking date, but in the end did it.
